Just a quick question, has anyone here had experience with staying at the Queen Victoria Hotel on Soi 6? I am slated to be there in the penthouse for 19 days, does anyone have anything good or bad to say about the place?

Davieboy,

I've stayed there twice before.  I like the Hotel, very clean, nice staff and great food, they even have an inroom safe.  There is their website: www.queenvictoria-inn.com.  They do not do ID checks however.  Also the Queen Victoia inn is located on Soi Yodsak in the middle of the indoor beerbars. ;D ;D  Soi 6 is behind the hotel.  A friendly word of advice; if you barfine a girl from a bar on soi yodsak, use soi 6 to get back to your hotel, these girls all have fighter pilot eyes.  There are alleys that connect soi 6 and soi yodsak.  There is a good internet cafe across the street.  It is a great hotel, it's a little small so you'll have to book a little in advance.  Also they have two styles of rooms, the bigger rooms go faster, they are newer.

good luck

KJ

Well thank you for your rapid answer to my question. I have a reservation for the 19 days in August for the penthouse, so its all confirmed. I like that idea about using the alley to get around the girls cross hairs. This will be a trip to remember, and the first one at that. Thanks KJ Vegas :( :o :o :o[flash=200,200]

Stayed here in March for 3 nights. 500 baht.

The first room on the first floor.

The room was small but no problem.

Like many hotels, don't like the all in one shower toilet where everything gets wet. At least  the toilet paper holder was covered.

The floors are tiled which did cause a problem. Late one night( or was it early in the morning) a resident trying to enter his room must have dropped his keys on the floor more than once and it sounded like a gun shot.

On another occasion there was so much pounding from the room above( I assume on the bed) I thought the ceiling was going to cave in.

Also reception prefers you to leave the safe deposit key with them when out.

After 2am, entry is via the back door.

I do agree, the staff are very nice.

I would stay here again, but only for a few nights.

chico, woof woof  8) :(

Chinco + Davieboy,

The last time I was there I talked to the owner, he said the new wing at the Queen Victoria is complete. Those are the bigger rooms and it cost only 700 baht.   Agian soi 6 is great. ;D  ;D

They pulled the old bait and switch on me last January.  They showed me a nice room and said it would be available the next day but  I'd have to pay a deposit to hold it.  I came back but the room they tried to give me was half the size and was pretty crappy looking and I was not impressed with it.  Of course they would not repay the deposit even after waiting and talking with the manager of the place.  I didn't feel like playing the games with the tourist police so I let it go but they will NEVER get any more money from me again.

The original room they showed me looked nice and it was a good price but just beware that the workers and management are crooks and will try to fuck you if you give them a chance.

Just this morning I received an email from Queen Victoria Hotel, telling me my reservations have been cancelled and that I would be better off in another hotel. Shit, all I asked the Queen Victoria Hotel is if they do ID checks and Bert e-mailed me back saying that my reservations have been cancelled and that I would be better off at another hotel. Well fuck me upside down if they treat me like this even before I go, you think I will even want to se this little place let alone stay there. Now I need to find another place for my Bro and me in August. Are there many tourists in Pattaya now, do I need to concern myself with a reservation? Or can I just stroll up and ask, hey what is the rate now?

In august you will have no trouble finding a decent hotel. I like the Flipper Lodge and Eastiny both on Soi 8. About 700 per night.    www.flipperlodge.com

Will go to PTY in 3 days, have already booked QVH, is there any decent / reasonable hotel in the same soi for back up ?

Not the same soi, but just a short distance away on Soi 4, I stayed at Mikes Beach Resort this past June for 16 nights for 600 a night.

Bear I've never stayed there.  One reason is no pool, but I do like the area and have stayed at the Eastiny Place many times.  I read that your going to be at the Yensabai Condos soon.  If you get a chance could you stop by the Marine Yensabai Mansion and see if they have any rooms available on the 20th of August.  Heard rumor that they were booked solid, but would like to verify.

for me, no pool in QVI is a turn off. I'd give this one a go ::

Little Duck Pattaya - 336/22 Moo 9 Central Pattaya Rd

not really so great a hotel, but for 600 baht you get a large room,  tiny pool & a disco down-stairs that opens until 4am.  IMO, the restaurant is rather pricy though.
