My kasikorn savings account only gives online statements back as far as 3 months. I'd like to go back a little further (say 8 months).

Not sure if i can do this on my next trip in branch...or whether i can get my passbook updated? It hasn't been updated since Nov 2012, so not sure if they would go back that far with all transactions listed?

Yes they will, just go in and ask them, they will give you a print out of any month from any year you have had an account. You can try updating your book, but if it has been a while since last time, it may skip a few months and just bunch up the total transactions into one line. If this is not enough info for you, they will give you a complete print out of the time since last update.

Probably a passbook update will just have some consolidated entry and lack the details you want.

I hate the 3 month historical statements online as well but I guess it's better than nothing. Siam Commercial gives you 6 months. I have both a business and savings account at both banks and updating the passbook gives you every single transaction, even if the bank book hasn't been updated in a while. I just did it with my personal savings account as it hadn't been updated since Febuary 2013.

Depending on the amount of transactions you have made, you might want to go to the branch you opened your account along with you passport as they will issue you a new bank book if you run out of pages.

That is absolutely correct in terms of getting a print out. Personally, I've never had any bank in Thailand skip a few months or bunch together transactions when not updating a bank book for a while. I remember updating my Bangkok Bank bank book one time after 5 years, it had every transaction although that particular account did not have much activity.

I recall updating my Bangkok Bank Savings account passbook and getting a 'consolidated' line for the older stuff that just updated the total, then listed the more recent stuff item by item. Bit of a nuisance really as I wanted to see the 6 month interest and tax amounts from much earlier in the year.

I did the same as you and then asked them for a print out for the months that had been consolidated. They printed it out for me no problems.

Yeah, I was trying to figure out the tax on my interest for the year, as the amount seemed to be more than 15%....and it was!

I had gone into the next bracket!

Yes apparently, you can 'earn' up to 20,000 tax free and I do know some who go through the rigmarole to get back some tax.

I believe you have to obtain a Thai tax registration number, and then a statement from the bank and you can claim back up to 3 years worth.

I decided the less any government's revenue department knew about me the better, loss of some thousands of baht notwithstanding.

Thanks for this information guys. I think there's a token charge for depositing money in a different branch of kasikorn (or is it for a branch in a different area...say Bangkok). I think it was 15baht. Wondering if thats a fixed amount regardless of how much you pay in?

Not sure whether to pay cash in on arrival or wait till i get to pattaya.

I vaguely remember the exchange booths in Suvarnabhumi give worse rates than downtown bankok? Having said that, i'm arriving relatively late, so that might be my only option?

We were told there'd be a one or two hundred baht charge for a print out of interest payments from the bank for 2013.

They can go back but I'm not sure about past a year.

The Kasikorn booth at Suvarnabhumi gives the same rate as the other branches nationwide. From their website ...

I missed out there. I cashed £200 in on the baggage collection side. No kasikorn booths on that side.

Actually, the Airport rail link is a bit of a hike isn't it? My friends wouldn't have been up for waiting for me (we arrived early evening....so we needed to crack on to make the most of our first night)

My passbook did not update that far back when I used the ATM like machine outside their office by Tukcom. The update went back 3 months when I updated it in the machine. So, go inside and see if it goes back further than 3 months is what I'd do next time.
