Etihad Sale Ex Bangkok.

LOL. …… and don't even try to comprehend the Emirates 1st Class decor designer! Almost "tacky" really; fortunately the product is better once you see beyond the garishness!

Well I didn't feel it was too tacky, but remember it is an Arab airline and they may have different tastes to conservative British ones.

Maybe it is the "Hollywood Diva" vanity mirror which you have closed in your photo that "offends" my taste senses !

It doesn't put me off too much though as I am currently half way through my final trip of a block of 4 bookings in a 12 month spell. They have lifted the £3100 return price that was on offer from Glasgow now.

The 1st bar was shut on the DBX - BKK leg last week. Quelle horreur ! Had to "slum it" down the back with the Buisness Class plebs !!!!

I quite enjoy flying with Etihad, that is only if there isn't a long transfer time between terminals or flights.

Last month, flew into Al Ain and flew out of Abu Dhabi. I wasn't too impressed by that little trick!!!!

Where was the flight from that went into Al-Ain?

Very odd, I recall Al Ain from my days in Abu Dhabi back in the 80s, used to drive there to 'take a look', like many of the other Emirates, Nothing there at all back then.

I was wondering if the pilot got lost, or that was where his house was?

4 weeks ago, flew Etihad to AUH, and were meant to land at 7am. Arrived at 7am but flew in circles for 2 hours due to fog. 9am the captain says "we are #8 in the Q, land in 30 mins". 30 mins later Cap comes on and says we cant land in AUH due to a hydraulics problem so we are diverting to Al Ain.

As we landed in Al Ain, there are fire engines chasing us down the runway for some reason. Apparently, we had a hydraulic proble, a serious problem with #3 engine and a undercarriage problem too!! Nothing too serious then. Seemed it was too dangerous to the flight operations of AUH for us to land, incase we had a problem on landing.

Sat on the plane in Al Ain for 2 hours before boarding buses to AUH. Halfway to AUH, all 11 buses pull over at a service station so the drivers can smoke and go for a piss, but, they refused to let a single person off any buses as none of us had any visas for being in the UAE. One passenger rebellion later, and everone gets of the buses for a break.

Finally make it to AUH, to find that they have kept our original flight back for us. Can you imagine a plane full off people who have sat there for over 5 hours waiting for us to turn up. They were fucking fuming. I found it quite funny actually.

Should of landed in BKK at 19.45pm, finally had wheels down in BKK at 01.45am. Not the best journey I have ever had on Etihad, and I will think twice before flying them again!!

Wow, what a shitty mess up.

And I have just booked with them! :D

Like most carriers I think, fine when everything works, but collapse at the slightest problem.

With such a long delay they should have supplied you with food/drinks,did they?

I shall have to see how mine goes, I normally find quality deteriorates after time with these carrers, causing me to switch.

Qatar pissed me off with bad on-board service once during Ramadan and a shitty bus-transit at Doha.

Perhaps Emirates next........!

I recall when I gave up on British airways, my Manchester shuttle couldn't find a parking gate and we sat on the ground for ages, then were forced to exit the secure area at T1 and repeat security checks, then the aircraft at T4 couldn't leave as the jetway couldn't be retracted, had to wait some time to get some oink out there to reset the breaker or whatever on call out bonus! The final straw, was learning that in Biz Class, a shrimp cocktail meant just that, a shrimp! :D

  • 2 weeks later...

I was going to announce that Oman have some nice deals (£656) on 21st Dec flying from Heathrow...but i wouldn't want you rich buggers to catch fleas in economy.

Btw....works quiet at the moment. Does anyone need an extra butler? :P
