Where to rent a bicycle in pattaya?

Recommended Posts

Why do people by mountain bikes to ride on concrete trails?

Pick one up at Big C for about 3000 baht. Use it for a month, then donate it. Average cost per day, $3.00.

Given the bad condition of the roads around here, it's makes sense to ride a mountain bike vs a road bike. I have both, but unless I'm going on a long ride (>50km) I'll use my mountain bike.

Another source for rental bikes is S.V. Bikes on the corner of Soi 8 and Thepprasit Road.

A lot will depend on how much you intend to ride.

A few years ago, I bought one of the best mountain style bikes at Big C and in less than a month most of the moving parts became wobbly from wear. Now I just use that bike as a shield in the motorcycle parking lot of my condo to protect my better bikes.

There are a couple of bike shops on Thepprasit Road that sell good quality new and used bikes. If you intend to ride regularly and want to have a decent bike, I'd recommend buying a used bike at one of these shops and then reselling it to them at the end of your trip. Within the purchase price they will fit and maintain for free for the lifetime you own the bike (except for new tires and tube replacement).

Enjoy the ride and be safe.

A few years ago my now wife asked me to buy her a bike. I told her that if I bought her a bike it was because I wanted her to die.

End of discussion. And we have been together for almost 13 years now.

It doesn't matter how good a bike rider you are. You ride in Pattaya you are asking for trouble.

Well mine wanted one for some exercise and as a way of going to and from the nearby market. No major roads involved so danger not an issue.

The novelty soon wears off! Now she complains too hot, sun on my face, hard work, rain, need to carry big bottle of water............and a multitude of other excuses to take the motorcycle instead.

I have known many friends who went on cycling rides to keep fit, but on the East side of Sukhumvit, other than there being a spell of muggings (some bikes are expensive) they were okay.
