50 most dominant athletes of 2013

Recommended Posts

Link wouldn't work for me.

I heard something about Floyd Mayweathers punishment being delayed by six months as his fight was worth $100 million to the LV economy. That's pretty dominant. Above the law? I reckon it's the right thing to do as it will benefit so many Las Vegans.

No idea why it won't open. It continues to open when I click on the link, so it's a good link.

I opened the link to have a look at one sports writers opinion. All the athletes named are probably amongst the very best in their chosen sports, but I cannot agree they are the most dominant athletes in the world.

The list was compiled by a certain Tony Olivero. Like most sports writers compiling such lists, he his influenced by what sports he prefers and by his background. There is no way any of us can follow all sports in detail and then decide who are the 50 most dominant athletes in the world.

If 100 sports writers compiled similar lists, they would all be different to the nth degree. Some of them could be Norwegian sports writers, covering what their Nordic winter sports athletes accomplished at the Winter Olympics, or African writers following their long distance runners, consistently winning just about every important Marathon year after year and setting incredible world records in the process. What about all those great swimmers. America has dominated swimming for a very long time now. The list of sports not covered by those "experts" is endless.

Agree with Gonz that any multi sport best of list is subjective, unless it's based on a common quantifiable factor like 'dosh'. I don't follow basketball so never heard of half of them.

Actually I think there's something nice about the fact that some of these most dominants could walk down Oxford st and people would only think, "Ooo he's tall!'

I found the article noteworthy (to me) because an American sports publication ranked two football players as #2 and #5 out of all the choices available.

He could have stuck to golf, basketball, American football, baseball, tennis, hockey..etc, typically well-known American sports ...but actually went international in his rankings.
