Jürgen Klinsmann has been been living in California since since 1998. That makes him an American, in m opinion.

Group of death lol. Try group G for a real challenge.   Looks like the lowest ranked team will win the group.

Hi,   The World Cup is in a very glamorous setting this year, Brazil. I’m sure some on here find Brazilian women almost as hot as our Thai ladies so there are a few reasons to go if one has the mone

He's taken a 'vow of silence'…….. The mystery for me is that his acolyte, 'Fatboyfat's' last post on the 19th march coincides with Tom's entry into holy orders.

Maybe it's just a case of, 'two great minds'…………? :thumbup

A Tale of Two Cities…...

http://youtu.be/HHhalSLHgf8

The cheering, the support from the Uruguayan President down. The sympathetic cuddles. The outrage at FIFA from Maradona, who had a longer ban for illegal drugs……. The feeling of injustice and of trying to off-load blame to the European and in particular the English press. The seeming absence for attributing any blame or responsibility to Suarez himself is sickening.

Contrast it to what Beckham, the county's darling went through when he got sent off and out of the World Cup……..

Here's the crime: Notice the clout in the back and the heavy landing on top from Simeone and the theatrical fall……. But Nonetheless Beck's was pilloried by the country for seeing RED.

Here's a quote from 'Wiki'

"In the second round (last 16) of that competition, he received a red card in England's match against Argentina.[159] Beckham, after having been fouled by Diego Simeone, kicked Simeone while lying on the floor, striking him on the calf muscle.[159] Sports Illustrated was critical of the Argentinians' theatrics in that incident, stating that Simeone first delivered a "heavy-handed challenge" on Beckham and then "fell like a ton of bricks" when Beckham retaliated.[160] Simeone later admitted to trying to get Beckham sent off by over-reacting to the kick and then, along with other members of his team, urging the referee to send Beckham off.[161] The match finished in a draw and England were eliminated in a penalty shootout. Many supporters and journalists blamed him for England's elimination and he became the target of criticism and abuse, including the hanging of an effigy outside a London pub, and the Daily Mirror printing a dartboard with a picture of him centred on the bullseye. Beckham also received death threats after the World Cup.[162]

The abuse that Beckham was receiving from English supporters peaked during England's 3–2 defeat by Portugal in Euro 2000, a match where Beckham set up two goals, when a group of England supporters taunted him throughout the match.[163] Beckham responded by raising his middle finger and, while the gesture attracted……."

Getting our 'Stars' sent off is a common approach.

Seemingly they are always on a quite short fuse.

Ronaldo did it too.

That also makes me feel the English sides are not a team, but always presented as one 'star' and 10 others.

Like Uruguay and Portugal you mean? …….Possibly Argentina too... One of the opposing coaches said of Argentina…… "There are some good players that come from Argentina but Messi is from Jupiter!"

Yes, but I understand the rhetoric of the English press much better!

Hi,

Italy and England were knocked out by Suarez. Brazil are afraid that Uruguay will win the cup in Brazil again. They all had an agenda against Uruguay and Suarez. England would have scored at least 3 goals in their last game if Suarez was on their team instead of Sturridge, who is not a bad player. God damn you, Tony Blair.

I missed the goal Suarez scored against Italy……. must have been when I went to the fridge!!? I'm sure Brazil wouldn't want Uruguay to win the world-cup in Brazil. Any other country is OK though, right?

The last sentence……? I really hadn't thought of blaming Tony Blair for Suarez's country of birth not being England.

Brazil playing Chile in less than 5 hours time here in Thailand. Should be an interesting match.

What a battle between Brazil and Chile! I'm exhausted just watching them play through two extra times.
Chile gave it a good try, and with Howard Webb's phantom handball call, Brazil was denied a 2-1 score in the second half.
For his sake, it's a good thing Brazil won, because he was a marked man if they didn't.

Edit in..

After arriving home and seeing the close up shots and the repeat of the event, Howard Webb did get it right. That still wouldn't have helped him if Brazil had lost...just like Suarez didn't bite if you're from Uruguay.

Sad to see Uruagay go out……….I've just learnt how to spell it.

Let's see if they take the exit door in a sporting fashion.

Hi,

Brazil v Chile was a great game, could have gone either way. All the money was for Columbia in the other game as no one fancied Uruguay without Suarez. Columbia have a fair chance to beat Brazil IMO.

The Greeks deservedly equalized in the last minute of normal time (1:1). They were the better team. Only most Greek surnames end with an "s". The player with the most famous name playing for Greece is Sokrates. The game will now go into 30 min. extra time, with the winner playing in the Quarter Finals. Yes, go and get a life.
