If you are tired, make sure you don't slip on the wet tiles and break your neck, like I did two years ago. :lsmile

Yes I often think of your accident when I get up in the night for a pee……… No saintly Mrs Gonzo living with me.

Group of death lol. Try group G for a real challenge.   Looks like the lowest ranked team will win the group.

Why, I just got a guy signing for the deaf for 4 minutes?

I was just as annoyed after watching the video as you were, so I thought stupidly I might as well share it. I am sorry for wasting four minutes of your life. :shame:

Saintly Mrs Gonzo was smart enough to have a good sleep last night instead of watching the poor games shown. She seems to know more about football than I do. One thing is for sure, if it would not have been for her two years ago, I would be a cripple now or dead. Going for a piss at night should never be a problem. Slipping on wet tiles can be.That what happened to me in broad daylight coming back from the pool. Shit happens, but I am now back in near mint condition, except for not being able to go to sleep from all the coffee I drank to watch the football for the last few days.

Hi,

Russia finish strongly against the Koreans. Belgium played like they were on tranquilizers in the first half but improved with the introduction of the lampshade(Fellaini) I think he is good if played to his strengths. Moyes didn't play him up the field supporting the attack.

Here are some good statistics. More than 50% of players in this World Cup come from the Premier League (England), La Liga (Spain) Serie A (Italy) and the Bundesliga (Germany). Kevin de Bruyne from Belgium plays for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

Great game by the Aussies against the potential world champions Holland. A good goal from Robben in the 20.min and a great equalizer by Tim Cahill one minute later.

Australia put up a very strong performance when they lost to the super stars from the Netherlands 3:2. The Aussies deserved a draw. Well played Australia, the lowest ranked team in the competition. :thumbup

Chile are leading Spain 2:0 at half time. I think it will be curtains for the 2010 WC champions. They look like a ghost of their former selves.

The reign of Spain has dribbled down the drain……...

But thanks for the memories.

The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain. I used to be in love with Eliza Doolittle as well. :lsmile

Croatia 4 Cameroon 0. Croatia need a draw against Mexico to qualify for the last 16. Croatia had Ivan Olic from VFL Wolfsburg (VW subsidiary) and Mario Mandzukic (Bayern München) playing for them.

She's my claim to infamy….. I grew up in the old 'Charles Street', site of the Georgian Fever Dens and later the famous child prostitution scandal involving 13yr old Eliza Armstrong, who was sold by her mother for 5 pounds to a man called Stead. He was actually a 'do gooder' and promptly collected her from the brothel and delivered the girl to the Salvation Army…… Nevertheless he was given a 3 month sentence for his trouble. It was a famous scandal at the time and Shaw is said to have used Lisson Grove's notoriety as the most sordid, drunken and violent part of London to establish Eliza's credentials as a tough choice for his 5 pound wager, (note the amount).

By the time baby atlas2 came along, due to all the publicity 'Charles Street's' name had been changed to 'Ranston street'. It's still in one of the poorest Wards in London. Last time I visited there were so many Burka's around it got dark a half-hour earlier.

It seems funny to us now how Eliza's use of 'Bloody' was shocking to a theatre audience. So to bring things up to date………And back on track….

………."Tonight Wayne Rooney……Move your fucking arse."

Thanks for sharing your story. I could tell a few things about my early youth, which was not always pretty as well.

I am sure England's "old men" Lampard ,Gerrard, Rooney and England's exiting new young guns will take care of Uruguay. With a beat of luck Germany and England will meet in the last 16 again. There will be no hard feelings, win or loose.

I am proud of how Australia, the country which adopted me such a long time ago, played against the Netherlands last night. I am certain that Klinsmann will show the replays to his USA team, to show how the minnows of the game should handle the giants of the game. Chile surprised me. The must be amongst the favourites to win the World Cup 2014 now.

Absolutely a pat on the back for Australia. Football must be 4th choice invasion sport over there after Rugby league, Union and Aussie Rules….also coming below cricket in popularity……But NO Australian team ever goes down without a fight. Let's see if a spent Spain can match them in the last game.

Hi,

The King of Spain abdicates and the European and World champions do the same. England could be on a AIG flight with them if they dont win tonight. Willie Walsh would love the publicity. Chile look good and Croatia deserve to qualify after being robbed in the first game against the Brazilians.

I am sure England will do all right tonight. I had no problems with Spain's departure, but I don't want to see England to depart as well. I don't want to see another great Euro team to be taken out of the WC against the South American countries playing in their own backyard.Cheers

Hi,

Been around London today and lots of flags everywhere, bit like the time they played Germany(heavy loss). Hope Hodgson plays all the young players and plans for the future. There will be claret all over the manor if Uruguay beat them tonight. :fight

Another South American team qualified for the last 16. Columbia beat Ivory Coast 2:1. Three goals within a few minutes late in the game stopped me from falling asleep in the chair.

Now I am waiting in great anticipation for the England game against Uruguay. Good luck England.

It would have been nice if Rooney's header would have gone in in the 32.min instead of hitting the corner post. He is out of form and all of the England team looked too tense right from the start. They played better against Italy and I hope they will do so again in the second half of the game.

Don't bet against Suarez.

Composed on a mobile phone.

Suarez made all the difference. Ironically, he plays in the Premier Division for Liverpool in England.

"Well bugger my buggery boots!"

When Pandora lifted the lid…. and out flew pestilence and all the rest…... the last to escape the jar was Elpis better known as, 'hope'. It sometimes feels like hope is as big a bastard as the others and really only flew out to torment us!!

Even now I can feel it fluttering………'We're not out yet…. there's still hope……. slim as it is.'

Maybe it can all go right for us in the coming games. Can only hope so now.

No recriminations or excuses…….At least there was nothing lucky about Suarez's clinical goals……….Gerrard flicks balls on to him every week.
