I have always admired Gerrard. In last night's game he looked tired and spent right from the start.

He's been up every night drinking coffee and watching the World Cup…..

Group of death lol. Try group G for a real challenge.   Looks like the lowest ranked team will win the group.

Hi,   The World Cup is in a very glamorous setting this year, Brazil. I’m sure some on here find Brazilian women almost as hot as our Thai ladies so there are a few reasons to go if one has the mone

Saintly Mrs Gonzo was smart enough to have a good sleep last night instead of watching the poor games shown. She seems to know more about football than I do. One thing is for sure, if it would not hav

Hi,

My mates have took the day off so I've done the same in sympathy. They hoped they'd be celebrating a victory with a long weekend. Alas.... The drinking has started early and we are likely to be here until the Honduras and Equador decide who goes through. :party :gulp

Hi there, there is still a slim chance for England making the last 16. Thanks for starting this thread. It has kept me busy. :thumbup

I am now looking forward for the Costa Rica - Italy game in an hour's time. I would like to see Costa Rica win, which could be difficult against the experienced Italians. :ninja:

Costa Rica is doing ok vs Italy early in the match 0-0. Go Costa Rica!

I apologize to my English friends and their hopes for slipping through the group with the Italian wins in the next two matches, but I've got a soft spot for little Costa Rica, my first foreign mongering destination.

I was there during the 2006 World Cup and the country came to a standstill while the matches were on. Last time I checked, I believe they have only 6 million population, but they have pride in this game beyond their meager numbers.

Well done, scoring the first goal.

P.S. I really don't like Balotelli either.

Costa Rica scores!!! 1-0. At 45'

No fear! Cost Rica treated Italy with contempt and deserve their 1:0 lead at half time. I hope it will be more of the same in the second half.

This is the game I enjoyed the most so far, Minnows Costa Rica beating Italy 1:0. No need for coffee to help me stay awake,

I never took Costa Riva seriously until last night's game. I hope they will continue to play they way they beat Italy and I think they will. It would be nice if a small country won the WC, instead of Brazil, Italy or Germany. That would truly make football the "world game".

Now I am a bit worried about Germany playing Ghana tonight. Just because the USA did so well against them, does not mean it will be easy for Germany. Ghana have a team with a lot of talent. :lurking

  • I cannot understand the ill feelings between the members of the UK. Most European countries seem to be able to settle their disputes peacefully these days. I only have a bit of an issue with Greece. Germany pumped billions of Euros into their economy to save their arse (ass) caused by mismanagement and corruption. German pensioners are getting short changed because of that. Greece keeps asking for more, saying the deserve more, thanks to the damage inflicted to their country in WW2 by the Germans by a previous generation of Germans. I don't believe in collective guilt.
  • Now I am going back to football. I will try to have a bit of a sleep soon to prepare myself for the Ghana - Germany game at 2 AM tomorrow morning.

Hi,

Costa Rica really put it up to the Italians. They were 50/1 to win the group and 10/1 to qualify for the next round. Great show from France.

I am as nervous as hell about Germany playing Ghana tonight at 2 AM. I have tried to sleep, fat chance. In tonight's game there will be two brothers playing against each other. Bayern's Jerome Boateng (Bayern Munich) at left back will be up against against half brother Kevin Prince Boateng, who plays for Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga. Jerome has been a great player for Bayern and was born in Germany. His is one year younger than Kevin Prince Boateng, who was born in Ghana.

Hi,

I have a friend from Ghana and he is shellshocked after their first defeat. Can't see them getting anything tonight either.

I just think that it is great that every 4 years the Americans discover the meaning of a World Series.

It would be nice if Ghana kicked the ass out of the Germans today!

They almost did. 2:2 was a fair result, after both teams playing well, you German hater.

I was waiting all morning for your comments about the Germany V Ghana match. What a slugfest that was!

Ghana played hard, fast, and well. Germany just barely managed to even the score.

Another WC 2014 upset result.
