Ibis Hotel on Soi 1 near 2nd Road

Recommended Posts

I searched and did not find a report, only old references. Has anyone stayed there that can give a yay or nay? I got a good deal for May at $30 ttl per night,so I booked it. The location looks good to me and is near Huge C if I need to do some shopping. I know it's on the north end of things but baht buses run nearby.

Good ahead and flame away if I made a bad choice.

I normally stay at the Sabai Wing in a deluxe pool view for round about 1200 per night, I know the hotel you mean as it's just over on Soi 1 Rd whereas the Wing is on the Alley.

Not heard any negatives about it to be honest, seems to be a run of the mill decent hotel offering good facilities.

Baht buses are a pain anyway, but the advantage being at the top end of town they are often empty and will stop more readily for a single farang rather than just carry on looking for a group of Russians (which I found was a problem when I stayed on Soi 8). Not sure if they are guest friendly, but would expect that they are. Perhaps worth dropping an email to ascertain.

I think you've made a good choice, if in any doubt check the Sabai Wing / Empress (google Sabai group) for comparison, you'll find you're well within the expected ball park for May.

Have a good trip, May's not far away mate.

Thanks for that,Butch. I saw it listed on GoogleMaps adjacent to mine. That is a good price if it's the total price. Did you book directly to get that rate? All hail low season rates! This trip was an add-on since Phnom Penh was the reason I was going. I figured I might as well add some time there since it's been a few years.

FWIW,I'll also accrue points which can't hurt.

Hi,

Yep, I always book directly with the sabai when staying there because I request a specific room and they're pretty helpful, but saying that, the Agoda rate for my second choice if the Sabai was booked , the lk Metropole, was the same as the website even after adding the taxes etc.

Seems low season prices are pretty good for this year, no one has increased them by the looks of things. I'd be interested to see what expected occupancy numbers are for this upcoming season.

Yep, all hail the low season!.

I've stayed at two different Ibis hotels in Phuket. The rooms were nearly identical if not exactly identical. Both hotels were guest friendly, but you might want to call as their parent company, Accor, does have hotels which are NOT guest friendly.

I liked the hotel enough to stay at another in the chain, but I disliked it enough that I looked elsewhere first before booking there again. The biggest issue is the size of the room is TINY. And they have the smallest shower that I've experienced in a hotel.

I agree with BeeryBelly. I have stayed in a couple of Ibis hotels in Australia and the bathrooms have been drop in modules that are quite 'squeezy', while the bedrooms are way too tiny for me. That is why I have never stayed in one in LOS.

4wheels, if it doesn't work out or you feel like cancelling then the Sabai Wing are currently offering a deal for April onwards , a deluxe pool view is around 1150 baht without a breakfast (which although is a good breakfast, I never bother with it, as there is a Subway bang opposite the top of Soi 1 on the "Big C" side of second road).

That's pretty good value mate, worth thinking about should you change your mind.
