Pattaya Talk infected with virus / ongoing now a few years

Recommended Posts

Martin, no problem with being redirected, but...logged in today for the first time in two days and find I can't use 'greenies' or 'reds'. In some threads it's like I had already 'voted', but obviously I had not. Would this be a part of the problem?

I found and removed the malware (again) about a week ago.   In the last two days it had come back, and this time was totally different in its signature, so finding it was not possible using the tec

I had the same problem with the sudden disappearance of red-green buttons Monday evening and now they are back. Thanks!   Evil

That's another problem...I'll look into it and post here shortly.

Bugger, Martin! I know you are working really hard to sort all this out, and I haven't said much about the issues. However everyone else has noticed the same issues and there have been other statements about them, and you have quickly reacted and are slowly overcoming them. Thanks for all the hard work - we really appreciate it.

This one has caused me to lose most of my hair in the last years.

Next step is for it to turn grey.

I think we're getting close...

I need volunteers to keep periodically checking to see if the redirect occurs.

I can't get it to happen at the moment but it will probably come back, and when it does, we (Frostfire and I...mostly Frostfire :P ) are gonna catch it!

Made it 4 days that time.....

Tried it an hour or so ago and all was well but tried again a few minutes ago and got redirected.

We're working on it!

Okay, virus removed again, and hopefully the code that reinfects has been found and neutralized as well.

Please try accessing ptalk from google search to see if you get redirected again.

I did five separate Google searches to access Pattaya Talk and no redirects, even when using bad-mojo words as my search term. But the URL4SHORT redirects have never been a problem for me. Whether that depends on luck or my anti-virus protection, I don't know.

"The Market" link redirected a few minutes ago. Flag lowered to half-mast for your frustration.

Thanks, BB.

Once again, back to the drawing board!

Darn near a month now and no redirect, so either I'm golden or whatever y'all did, did.

Maybe they got tired of reinfecting the site...one can hope.

Actually, Frostfire did a great job of finding what we thought was the vector that reinfected the site after a few days, deleted it (it was actually in the mysql database hidden in a "blob", for those who know about that stuff), and we thought we had it.

Then it happened one more time. I deleted the infection, Frostfire confirmed that the code he'd deleted was still gone, and it's not happened (to my knowledge) again.

I can't say it's 100% certain that it's gone, but this is the longest stretch of not showing up that I can remember, so fingers crossed.

Thanks for staying on top of it! :chogdee2:

Just read the above and tried 3 different links with no redirect using Chrome.

Sorry...I should have mentioned that I cleaned the redirect after I was informed it came back...once it's been cleaned it's a while before the bugger comes back again.

Keep trying though. As soon as it's reported, I can clean it.
