Crash landing at Dubai

Recommended Posts

It's going to interesting to find out what caused this. There had to be all sorts of warning lights if the gear wasn't down and locked. Years ago I was on a Navy crash boat crew. I saw several fighter jets belly land. The naval air station foamed the runway and from where we were it looked like normal landings, no sparks, fire or noise. That thick foam is slippery.

Sadly, it seems a firefighter has died.

When the ANA plane crashed at SFO a few years ago, the fuselage broke apart and one of the passengers who had been ejected was covered in foam and run over and killed by a fire truck.

Expect an on the ground eyewitness trip report from the esteemed reporter and member Firth. He was stuck at the airport at the time of the excitement. e has posted a couple on Facebook and said he has a number more taken as his flight taxied past the stricken plane.

Looking forward to seeing them.

I was waiting at Dubai for my connection on Tuesday AM. To be honest my own landing there earlier was a heavy one. Same model (as my previous flight, not the same as the crash landing) ot aircraft landed very smoothly at Manchester.

That foam wasn't spread on the runway. It was from the firefighters. Sad accident for sure.

Slight correction Midlife. The SFO crash was Asiana not ANA.

I was a pilot in my youth and so have always had interest in Aviation.

I follow these threads on Airline pilots forum .com and Prof Pilots rumor network. Interesting threads from pilots.
