Eva and KLM have the only direct flights from Schipol,EVA have flights 9 Jan return 28 Feb 2018 for 601euro,9Jan is a Tuesday,it's the same price for those dates as this year, you won't get it cheaper for a direct flight.

The one rule about booking early is that you should never look and second guess the thing. You make a decision and make the booking and then leave the subject alone. It can be depressing if you could

You arent going to get Consolidators or airlines to tell you how they do deals matey. I used to buy from Consolidators and from 2 airlines direct. They werent allowed to sell to me direct but I was se

You are looking far too far ahead. No flight allocations have even been considerd for those dates yet so the prices you will see wull be the standard fare. Apart from the fact that those dates you show are high season.

OK but I prefer to fly direct and book with the airline and 600 is as good as it gets, that's my experience of flying from Schipol to Bangkok over the last 25 years, you can get cheaper I think I saw aeroflop for 420E last year via Moscow, some of the ultra cheap flights have 20-30 hour time duration,

When I go shopping for food I don't care about the price on the goods I look at the kilo price the same with flights I look at the duration.

I would suggest you are getting ripped off. You should never book direct with the airline as they will sell you the standard fare whenever you book. Also as I said you will never get a decent fare booking that far ahead as none of the Airlines have even started thinking about their seat allocations so you will always pay top whack.

But its your money sir.

As I say only KLM does a daily flight to Bangkok from Schipol,(I live 25km from Schipol) EVA three times a week, I only want to travel direct, booking direct with EVA cuts out the booking costs a CC fees

that travel agents charge that will add up to 50 euro to the final tally, now then I feel ripped of.

I normally book June July time and 600 is a good price.

I picked up MAN-BKK in May with Qatar for £339 booking 5 months in advance...... Less than a week later the price had already shot up and on a recent search wasn't showing any cheap ticket availability at all on the flights we've booked.

Are you looking at the airlines own websites? or going through an agent? I am looking at a trip next year BUT from bKK so god knows how much of a diff there will be against uk-bkk-uk

So where would you suggest i look for the best pricing? will be flying from BKK i imagine, and any chance booking a one way ticket each way would be beneficial (to maybe take advantage of cheaper from the uk) and looking at June 2018

Most of the time I book through the airlines websites, but my next trip was done via an on-line agent.

Buying 2 one way tickets could be a lot more expensive, but there's no harm in checking... try https://www.skyscanner.net/

OK last bit first. I would suggest that, for June 2018 you start looking around December/January.

Now the problem you have is that most UK agents dont have the right to sell discounted tickets from destinations outside the UK. They CAN sell them but the price will probably be higher than you could get having a wander around the agents in Bangkok. You could try Skyscanner around November time.

And just a point. UNless you have a lot of money or a FF membership I would never ever buy from an airlines website as they will always be around £30 more expensive (and thats the price of a girl for a night)

Well i dont actually live in Bangkok,or even Thailand for that matter lol, but we will be in Thailand till sometime in June, that inbound flight is already booked for May.

I was thinking about skyscanner but have no real experience with them as i always just book my own flights around south east asia myself.

That's not true when I book with EVA the price they show is the price I pay,no booking fees or credit card surcharge,if I book through an agent I pay 30 euro booking fee plus CC fee about 10 euro.

I don't pay either in the UK so I suspect that the business models in the UK and Netherlands are different.

My comments were relevant to the UK, not the Netherlands.

Booking direct with airlines in the UK will always get you a higher price in the UK than booking with an agent.

One example at the moment is Qatar. Agent prices are £30+ cheaper than their website prices.

Eva Air website 5 minutes ago offering departures from 01MAR-13JUL17 / 14AUG-07DEC17 at £465

Skyscanner showing the dates I want in October/November with 22 deals from £435.That price will come down by at least £30 as well.

No booking charges. Now saving £30 to me is something I consider important.

A few weeks back Eva were dumping certain departure dates for £375 !!

Booking direct with an Airline in the UK will ALWAYS be more expensive, unless you have Frequent Flyer priviledges.

If it wasnt cheaper with Agents, there would be no agents, no point.

I would suggest Eva are consolidating their fares to agents at around £380 at the moment, so agents will put on the profit they want or the market will tolerate.

What do they charge during January-february high season? That's after the Christmas new year peak,

the 600euro that I checked was jan9 to Feb 27.

I cant get accurate prices ex Schipol, and as I stated previously they havent even released the fare rates for January February yet so the prices you will see are the standard full fares.

Youll need to wait till at least June for them to start even considering 2018 discounted fares.

As suspected Qatar have started dumping seats and prices in May from £384 on Skyscanner, I suspect that they may drop down another £30 at least

Incredible bargain. I bet you would pay that much and more in 'taxes' for a 'free' airmiles ticket in Biz!

Just checked, my one way was £176 in taxes!

Yes its daft isnt it?

Long Haul ticket prices are cheaper now than they were in the mid 80's.

If I fly out 11 Jan return 8 March next year eva have flights 584euro that's the lowest I have ever seen for that time of the year.ams-bkk return.

It's tempting but want to wait and see how my finances are and how the Euro stands, probably need to wait till the German electionson September 24.

You really are going to pay top whack for any tickets for January 2018 none of the airlines or big travel companies are even bothering thinking about January yet and they wont even send in their projected allocation untill probably September.

November through to mid February is high season (from the UK anyways) and also brings in Chinese new year (give or take) so you will be quoted the standard rated fares.

Saying that, Qatar and Eva are showing as £445 ex UK for those dates.

You have to understand I live near Schipol so that's

where I will fly from,I prefer to fly direct so I have two choices EVA tue /thu/sat KLM fly seven days

a week.the price I have just seen is actually 575euro not 584,the EVA flight leaving in January will be full there may be the odd empty seat on the return flight in March,if I wanted to have a stopover I am spoiled for choice Serbia air are offering flights for 495euro+,Turkish 516+budgetary.nl have the EVA fight for with booking fees for 575 and the Turkish flight for 516 with booking fees didn't check to see if they have a CC charge.flying on the 11January instead of 9 January

saves 30 euro I think till January 10 is peak season for Thailand after that it's only high season.

I did see a really cheap Turkish air flight from a Brussels airport but the out flight was 32 hours, also cheaper flights from some German airports.like I say the cheapest I have ever paid was 600 euro with China air the 575 from eva is seriously good and they won't get cheaper bearing in mind they only fly 3 Days a week.

Yep big Holiday companies will start sending back unbooked seat allocations around a month before any departure dates so most airlines will start discounting.

I note Qatar, for departures at the end of October are now slowly slipping down. Now at around £405 whilst Thai who have been filling their A380 flights from LHR have gone way back up to £545 but even they will drop later to fill any empty seats.
