Thoughts on swimming in the water

Yeah, keep your mouth closed if you want to take the chance.... I went swimming just down the coast from Pattaya once, and immediately almost ingested a used condom, tied up at the neck. Never again! That same day, I must have had about 5 plastic bags wrap around my ankles as the tide was going out.

When I read Rawhide's post earlier that very thought came to me, but I felt it just too yucky to mention!

There must be many of them being swept down the hotel sewers in the early hours.

I don't think its worth the risk. If you go swimming in it, maybe in this case the risk is more than the reward. I would stick with hotel pools, or exercise on gym equipment with low impact on the body.

I too avoid swimming in the Gulf. There are plenty of pristine swimming pools to get your exercise. The sea is pretty good at cleaning itself but the Pattaya and Jomtien areas have overwhelmed mother nature.
