Can anyone give me some useful information regarding travelling from BKK airport to Pattaya by bus! (air con) i.e cost, time and comfort!

I have travelled to Buriram from Pattaya by bus! and that took around 8-10 hours! so I think I can handle 2-3 hours by bus to Pattaya! I usually take a taxi costing 1000-1500 baht! but I hear that the cost by bus only costs around 100 baht! so its a saving of around 1200! if you deduct taxi fare to hotel from Pattaya bus station!

Cheers in advance!

Stiffler...

I'm going to try the train on my next trip...It does leave at 07:10 AM and gets in Pattaya at 10:37 AM, for about 140 Baht...Leaves from Makkasan Station...I know that it's hard to get up at 05:30 AM and get a taxi to the station, but I think the train ride will be a fun one....I've gotten tired of the bus and I wanted to try something different...It's on the Eastern Line, if you care to know

You need to get to the Ekamai Bus station on Sukumwit Soi 42.  Buses leave every half hour for Pattaya until about 11:30PM, air conditioned, bathroom-equipted and non-stop the cost is 90THB.  From the airport you can take a taxi there (probably about 300THB including expressway tolls).  Once in Pattaya you'll have to hire a taxi to get you to your hotel (100THB).  So you are looking at about 500THB to get there from the airport and you are adding at least an hour to your total journey time airoprt to Pattaya.

However, if you want to spend a night in Bangkok you can stay on the Sukumwit area, hit the Bangkok nightlife and then the next day take a taxi (50THB) or the Sky Train (30THB) to Ekamai.  Bus takes just under two hours.

If I was not staying in Bangkok first I'd just get a car straight to Pattaya rather than dealing with the bus.  If already in Bangkok, the bus is an easy option.

stiffler,

If your arriving around 0900, 1200, or 1900 you can take the bus run by Thai Limo for 200 baht to Pattaya and if you give the driver another 50 he will take you to your hotel.

I also thought you could catch the bus to Pattaya at the MoChit terminal near the airport.  Taxi to the terminal is 100 baht, around 95 baht to Pattaya and around another 60+ baht to your hotel depending where you stay.  If you take the bus at the bus terminal make sure you get the express.

I forgot to add that the buses don't run late at night.

kiosk for pattaya get a ticket get on the bus when you get to pattaya take a bhat bus to your hotel.it costs

+-110 baht airport to eastern bus station +-100baht

I just saw on another site that the last bus to Pattaya leaves Ekamai at 8:00 PM, not 11:30 as I stated (I just assumed it would be about the same as the last leaving Pattaya for Bkk).

Stiffler.

Used the bus all 8 trips without problem.

It's the A3 bus to Sukhumvit.

Sukhumvit traffic could be heavy at that time.

If you are travelling light, suggest you get off the airport bus at  Nana and catch the skytrain to Ekkamai.

Might save yourself half hour.

The 20 baht bus at Pattaya bus station takes off when full, but doesn't take long.

Normally it goes down Beach Road. However, it did go down Second Road once.  But I guess it won't now cause that's  one way.

I assume you have a map so you know when to get off.

Good luck.

I'm always on the lookout for ways to save cash, but I have always taken the limo Airport > Pty at reduced cost as follows:-

On the plane, at a transit stop, waiting at emmigration or the carrosel be on the lookout for fellow pattaya bound pilgrims - they are not difficult to spot. Appraoch them and say "Going to Pattaya ? Like to share a taxi"

If you team up making four you are going to pay little more than for the bus and enjoy some pattaya chat on the way !
