Hi anyone know/heard of any cheap flights/ offers for 3rd-28th July with Thai for 2 maybe 3 people, must be with Thai as I am a card holder and need the extra baggage allowance for the return plus they have sent me a free upgrade to business for one way/lounge etc. I heard they were doing 2 for around £600 in June and was hoping that they might have a similar offer for July.

You won't get a cheap flight in July or August, if you can move your departure forward by just a few days to 29 or 30 June you may do better. High season rate starts on 1st July and whether you pay the higher fare or not is governed by your departure date, your return date doesn't matter.

Been looking to book my flights for December and New Year but BA are coming up megabucks. I dont mind 550 - 600 quid but I think for that you should at least get direct flights. :(

Will keep looking I suppose.

I would be wary of Phuket Air as if it is a charter, their legroom will be crap and at an absolute minimum. They may also pass on costs for meals, drinks etc.

For Thai Airways July 3rd to 28th:

Expedia GBP 990

Ebookers GBP 577

Netflights GBP 588

I'd say snap up the Ebookers fare ASAP as I cannot see it coming much cheaper, only more expensive.

Just might be worth a call to Westeast Travel (www.westeasttravel.com) to see about their prices and any multiple ticket discounts.

Cheers guy's, I have used THG 5 times and have paid between £399 and £499 for flights on thai (the 499 included 2 nights hotel in BKK @ jade pavillion soi 22) in April, June, October and November but this year it seems that everything is more expensive, why? I thought July was low season and flights would be at their cheapest and was hoping for a good deal , eg. 2 for £600 approx. if anyone hears of an offer please post it as I and my mate would be very grateful , we've got the blues big time and need our medication before dementia sets in. :beer

Sorry to piss on your bonfire but you're not going to get 2 for GBP 600 or GBP 300 each direct on TG this summer unless something major happens and the moon spins into the earth or something.

If you want and / or need to go at that time, what is already posted will be about the best deal available.

If you want to go before, say on 18th or 19th June, then Qantas / BA can get you there and back for GBP 388.40 direct. Prices go up for outward travel on 20th June. Ask Eva if you want, but Thai are not matching the price.

As stated before, try an IT fare inclusive of accommodation if you want. TG may have some of those.

Taffy,

I believe Thai sent the upgrade/lounge voucher to all their members as well as the members of any other FF programme who were invited to join ROP at the same level they held with their current FF programmes. I would suspect therefore that the chances of getting an upgrade on a Sat in July would be pretty slim.

My own experience with Thai ROP was that both myself and other family members used Thai for many years but when it came to getting an upgrade it could only be done a couple of weeks (3?) before the flight. The reality was that upgrades were available on Mon-Thu flights but Fri-Sun was a no-go. In the end we had to convert all of our mileage to hotel vouchers before the accumulated mileage started to expire.

That said, it is good news that Thai are upgrading their business class product over the next year or so because, other than EVA at present, it lags a long way behind all of the other main operators on the UK-BKK routes. IMHO. :P

Regards,

Tom

Upgrade vouchers ain't worth a wank, if you read the small print then they are only valid on the fully flexible economy return tickets , then only if there is room, then if they have meals available etc and of course a Thai would get first pickings over a falang :D

Mind you the lounge access vouchers are ok .

cheers to the guy's for the sensible replies but I've had a reply today from my usual travel agents (thg) and they have quoted me £499 out on tg917 on 02nd or04th/07/04 return on any other flight I choose, this is only £20 more than I normally pay and it may yet be cheaper, I'll know tomorrow.

Torrenova (a bit sarcastic ain't you :banghead ) the two for £600 was just an example and not set in stone , I hope the moon don't hit the earth, at least not until after I get back. :crying

Cheshire Tom I 'm not bothered about the upgrade but it would be nice to get it, I'm more interested in the extra kilo's and the lounge/check-in has to be a bonus, not everyone got the upgrade tickets as my mate hasn't and he has been with me every trip even though it said in the letter from ROP that every UK member would get them.

Dainorth , Travelhouse is THG , you are correct the last day of low season fares is the 9th , from the 10th my rep in thg says it goes up, thx.

Why not have your friend call Thai customer service in the UK and have them send out a upgrade coupon? I had something similar happen with United and they were very helpful getting another 2 for 1 coupon out for my daughter.

I received the same upgrade vouchers and went to use them and it is only available on the full economy fare, which as I always buy from companies that sell cheaper flights (£350-£600) depending on time of year, the voucher is not worth the paper it is written on. But the lounge voucher was useful to have :)

Which is what I posted further up , it's a shoddy promotion :P

Since Thai's direct competitor on the route, EVA, affords all its silver and above cardholders lounge access at both LHR and BKK the Thai offer seems pretty insignificant, particularly since it only requires two return journeys in Deluxe to attain silver status on EVA.

Tom

p.s. I know BA/Qantas go direct but their product (personal IFE but poor legroom) isn't directly comparable to Thai/EVA (no personal IFE but good legroom).
