The 2004 RideHer Cup will take place in Pattaya on 7th and 8th November 2004

For those of you who are not familiar with this world-famous golf match, here is a brief explanation. The RideHer Cup is a team event played between the USA and Europe at one of the golf courses in the Pattaya area. This will be the third year that the event has taken place and the score is currently 1 match apiece. The event is open to any board member that can swing a golf club plus Ben. Players who want to represent the USA must come from the USA but Eirope can be represented by players from anywhere in the world (except the USA). That allows our Aussie mates to play for their old colonial masters that shipped them out there on the prison ships!

This is a golf event where the focus is on having fun - ability is irrelevant! The proceedings start with a launch party at FLB on Sunday 7th November where the captains select their groups of two players and the order of play. This Sunday event starts around 8pm and continues until nobody is left standing or, in the case of the USA team, has gone to bed at 10pm. Players are issued with their T-Shirts and I try to explain the rules.

On Monday 8th November, we will collect all the golfers from a central meeting point in Pattaya - the Residence Gardens Hotel. You are transported to the course in time for a 10.00 am tee off. We play 18 holes - 9 holes as foursomes and 9 holes as a four ball better ball. Don't worry about the fine details - the rules will be published in due course.

After the golf is finished, it is back to your hotels for a shower, shit and shave and then we congregate at FLB Bar at 8.00 pm for what is always the best FLB Party of the year! There is a dinner buffet, prizegiving and we ensure that all the girls are well pissed in time for the legendary dance competition which is judged by the winning team.

The cost will be around Bht 3000 per player. This includes the parties, transport, green fees, caddy fees, a snack at the course, polo shirts and prizes.

We can accomodate any number of players. I just need to know the numbers by the end of September so that we can get the Polo shits printed and the tee times booked. To enter the RideHer Cup, please post a reply to this message. I need to know your handle, which team you want to play for, your handicap and your shirt size - S/M/L/XL/XXL. I would also like to have your email address so that I can send you the rules and team updates by email. Please send a copy of your entry to me at bertiewon@yahoo.co.uk.

I will be posting more information about the Cup on this board so keep checking in.

I look forward to meeting up with old and new players in Pattaya for the third RideHer Cup!

Sorry to hear about the expected event. My condolences to you and your family. I will be pleased to save up a wee one for AM.

Hub

No problem. As long as I know you are playing, just give me the cash on the day.

Regarding the price, Ben and I are hoping that we will attract more players this year so the cost of the party and transport per person should be lower. We are also planning to offer one T shirt instead of two and we are leaving the caddy tips up to the players. That's why we are targetting a price of Bht 3,000 or thereabouts.

Roppongi

I have you down as a definitely, possibly maybe as requested! Hope you can make it.

I will be in Pattaya from 17/9 to 25/9 so I will be up for some golf. I have a mate with me so I will be organising a few rounds. I was planning to book Laem Chabang on either the Tuesday or the Thursday and then Siracha for one of the other days. We will probably play 4 rounds that week with the possibility of doing Khao Kheow on the Sunday afternoon (19/9) as an extra. I guess Pie will be up for some games as well. If you guys are interested, I will put together a programme of 4 or 5 rounds and organise some transport. Please send me an IM and I will reply with my business email address so we can get the ball rolling.

I look forward to meeting up with you for a beer.

Hub, I'm just about to buy a new digital camera (pocket size Canon IXY) for the trip and look forward to putting a few photo shoots together.

Doggie, please let me know what type of program you organize. Back-to-back golf is always tough in Pattas... :D B) :P :nod

Hey Doggie we have just had to change our flights to arrive 18th Sept. Ben told me you would be in by then so lets try and get a practise round in at the venue.

777 and out.

Can't make it for this year but will be around next year. Somehow I think my participation would be an added handicap that the Europeans could do without :D - Now give me a decent handicap - say - 5 strokes per hole and then I might be able to make a useful contribution :beer

Good to hear that you will be back in Pattaya on 18th September. A practice round during the week is a great idea. I think I know a caddy at Phoenix who has got a cellphone. Now, what was that number again? :o

I'll call you sometime on 18th or 19th to fix things up.

Cheers

Doggie,

Originally I wasn't going to bring my clubs this trip as I was expecting to be in Pattaya for just 10 days. However, that's since been extended so count me in for any game from Monday 20th onwards - excluding the Wednesday of course (day after your b'day party at Kittens).

Cheers

OK Pie - I'll count you in.

I agree that the Wednesday should be a day off. With the track record I have drinking with you, we will still be in a bar somewhere when the rest of humanity is teeing off.

I would suggest the following:

Sunday - afternoon round at Khao Kheow. An alternative is Eastern Star with a return via Bang Chang. I have heard of a few bars there where the women have flat heads to rest your beer on!

Monday - Phoenix

Tuesday - Sports Day at Laem Chabang

Thursday - Siracha (subject to the work on the course being completed)

Let me know if this is OK. Looks like Roppongi will be joining us plus I have a mate from UK who will be playing. He has told his wife I am taking him on a golfing holiday to Cyprus so we have to find him some of these curly slippers to take home!!

If anyone else wants to team up, let me know and I'll get things organised for the transport and tee times.

How long you going to stay in Pattaya Pie?

Cheers

Hey! Great to hear guys

Glad to see our team are well into training for this years RIDEHER CUP, probably more the drinking training rather than the golf training, but it is a good start. :eyecrazy

I am also going to do my hot weather, drinking and shagging training, oh and golf training in 2 weeks time for 7 nights in LOS I arrive on 5th Sept :eyecrazy :eyecrazy

I was a bit disapointed that could not make it later with you guys, but I am sure we will all catch up for a drink or 2 or 3 in November.

Not that we Euros are taking in seriously this year :nod :nod :nod

Cheers :beer

Doggie,

I would like to enter a plea of not guilty, yer honour. I seem to recall that the last time as I drifted off to my cot you were still firmly planted at the bar at 0530. I am blameless as you well know. :D

Sadly I'll have to miss the Sunday round as I've made lunch arrangements for that day. Otherwise your proposed schedule looks great - looking forward to it especially Laem Chabang. I'll have a word with Robert and see if he wants to play one of more of those days. If Siracha doesn't work out and you fancy a repeat at Khao Kheow then I'd be up for that - always enjoy that course.

Deuce - shame that you aren't with us on the one hand but on the other hand it's probably good for me in that you won't have witnessed my golf so I might still get "selected" for the REAL Rideher Cup :D. Catch you in November. ch)

Cheers

Pie

P.S. Doggie - I'm in town until the 5th.

Hi Everyone,

Cheryl and I will be there again this year for The RideHer Cup III to help represent Team USA. Hopefully, Cheryl will make it to the game this year and not end up in the Hospital again. . . even if it was a great hospital. The Pattaya International Hospital on Soi # 5 and Second Road is the best and thanks to Hilly, AM, and the Hospital Staff my wife, Cheryl, got great treatment and at a reasonable price.

Also, I have got to say the staff at The Residence Garden hotel where we stayed provided extra special care and attention during her illness before :puke and after <huh her stint in the hospital. . .The Residence Garden is a great place to stay.

I am confident that Team USA will make it 2 for Team USA and still (the controversial) 1 for Team Europe. As everyone knows :cussing Team Europe :cussing had several plants placed on Team USA in The RideHer Cup I and doing so they may have swung the odds in their favor giving them the win?? I know if Team USA’s secret weapon plays this year, and is not hospitalized again, the only chance that Team Europe will have is AM but Mr. Hilly will offset that advantage. And of course Doggie with his knickers always around his ankles :rotflmao (can't hit is ball past the ladies tee box) will help to drag Team Europe down, too. LOL

Cheryl and I are both looking forward to seeing all of you again this year for the greatest International Golf Tournament in the world The RideHer Cup III. Everyone please check your guns at the door and have a great time enjoying the golf. I will be more than happy to buy a few pints of ale for Team Europe player at the rules meeting on the Sunday night before the golf tournament.

Just 71 days 21 hour 27 minutes and 21 seconds before wheels-up and off to the LOS.

Regards,

:devil

Doggie:

Count me and my good friend, newbie to Thailand, and new board member Fornicator in for the American team. With how we play golf America is at a distinct disadvantage. Our handicap it is that we try to play golf at all, in fact we figure our score by how many balls per hole we use. As for the size of the shirts - if you remember Ray W's car bottoming out when you, he, Ben, and I played last year I think more then XXL is needed for both my friend and myself. Get four shirts with as many X's as you can and we will be glad to reimburse the additional expense.

Will be in town starting on 4/11 till 16/11 and would love to get together for a few additional rounds especialy if you put together the trip to Kanchanaburi. Seeing the Bridge over the river Kwai has been a life long quest for my friend. Looking forward to sharing a pint with you. See you at our party at the FLB on Friday the 5th.

Big Kev <huh :rotflmao :cussing :cussing :devil :puke :D :D :D :beer

p.s.

Have you figured out who the fuck Alice is yet? :D :D :D

Welcome aboard Kev and your mate.

Ben will take on the challenge of getting shirts to fit you - I remember the last time we played your dress code was slightly non-conformist. I have emailed you a photo as a souvenir of that day!

I never did figure out who the fuck is Alice!

Cheers
