  2. I get aggravated by passengers seemingly refusing to turn their phones off. Trying to go sit in a more expensive 'cabin' than their ticket, is just being a pillock (even if someone is laying out on your designated seats).... United are going to be targets of this type of thing for a while.
  3. The Reuben I had at the Golf Club was rather puny compared to what I used to get from a specialized Reuben place in the USA..I too was looking to see how this place compared.
  4. Fantastic that some have a sense of humour about their own deficiencies or disabilities. I talked with one English guy a few times in The old Las Vegas A-Go-Go, on Soi Post office, now called Nevada, who was getting on with his life nevertheless. I believe he had a beer bar in the next street (soi Yamoto), called 'The Legless Arms'.
  5. Garden tools caused them, for what you mention I wear gloves!
  6. You keep going up, there will be takers! If you get takers, there won't be removals by force! The higher 'ceilings' on payouts will also put downward pressure on over-booking. The removed guy was of Vietnamese origin and it reminds me of a couple of them I knew while working in the USA. Strong minded guys and one in particular had some tales to tell of his life both in Vietnam and early days in the USA.
  7. Drainage project at home. Blistered hands. Mrs back Monday.
  8. I suppose a pancake isn't that either. US sandwiches are more of a meal than a snack, whereas a UK sandwich can be quite pathetic... transparent slice of ham and a wipe of butter! I used to work until late in the USA and grabbing a Reuben or Subway 12inch on the way back to the hotel with a 6 pack was a common evening. PS, No man should EVER order a 6 inch sub !
  9. It does seem unlikely that someone paying about £350 is somehow subsidizing someone on the same flight who paid £2500, rather than the other way round. I don't really want to subsidize anyone!

Its in the wash...found a baeball cap though.

  13. Correct on latter point... although USA guys really don't like to check bags. Overhead lockers are always packed.
  14. But of course they will be closed....so 18th, or will 20th work?

  16. Thanks for the update, but sadly about 5 days late for me. I could have saved myself a bloody awful day of being drenched by thunderstorms, trying to kill time and waiting around in crowded areas. Did you actually use it to completion?
  17. There are frequently no-shows so they try to compensate for them and avoid empty seats. I don't know what the penalization for no-show is these days on USA flights. If the guy is offered free flights for life. among other things, as compensation, I hope it is with another carrier. I heard yesterday that seats were given to UA staff, compensation had been offered up to $800, and this guy had been selected at random as there were not enough takers.
  18. I am up to 3 on that one!
  19. To be honest I have, on quite a few occasions, been unhappy with them with Business Class bookings. Once when I missed my connection due to a delayed incoming, non-BA flight, another when I tried to re-route a ticket, after I had been sent to a job in Buenos Aries from Caracas... they really tried to gouge me! My much remembered thought once on a flight was 'when you said 'a shrimp salad', I didn't realize you meant 'a shrimp salad''. They never seemed to be able to get the fucking aircraft away on time from that shit-hole, LHR (BA009-pre Term 5), always some pathetic bloody hitch, followed by a string of lies and excuses, as if I am some sort of idiot. Even had a stewardess try to give me 'tonic' instead of G&T, can't even drink your frustration away. I always dreaded to think what economy was like. They used to be so good many years ago! It is the Emirates or Qatar A380 for me, and I am quite Nationalistic.
  20. Something to be resolved before boarding. I have been in a the situation where flights have been overbooked and ever improving incentives were being offered to get passengers to fly later. I am not sure how they selected this guy, but being forcibly ejected is surely an extreme last resort. An announcement along the lines 'we need (a) volunteer(s) to give up his/her seat due to overbooking and offer a First Class seat on the next available flight or whenever you choose, and $1000 in cash', would likely have emptied the aircraft. I have other suggestions but I have seen United stewardesses.
  21. Well Westworld has turned into a big bore for me despite the odd bit of gratuitous nudity. Surprised to see Anthony Hopkins wasting his abilities. Thanks for keeping me on 'Breaking Bad'. MLC, it has picked up.

  24. As much as I said I prefer these rainy days, what we got this afternoon was a bit much!
