  7. There is one right on WS near Soi Diamond, landside. There are 'Love Hotels all over the place too, one down soi Bongkhot near Pirates GC.
  8. Well it would be going onto my laptop as that is what I use. Must check the scrolling message when I get back to Pattaya to see if it is being recommended. Currently still running 16.1 I think it is, Jarvis, works well. Sometimes need to switch in a VPN.
  9. I fill an idle 25 minutes with an episode of 'The Office' (USA version) ...... a lot of episodes. Prior to that I was watching 'Shameless'... I do miss Game of Thrones.....

  18. Yes I have flown them several times and found them okay. My only gripe was that I always landed and took off from different terminals in Abu Dhabi and the transit was a bit of a zoo. I too am directed by price, although having so many daily flights between Manchester and BKK, Emirates (and their A380) have been winning out.
  19. Well the title specifically excluded wind-up by stating 'electric' as did the first post......perhaps a sun dial with a wind-up as back-up for cloudy days?
  20. Perhaps they did not wish to appear pedantic?

  22. Well, other than us not really knowing what the rules could be in the future (they seem to change), it is not too difficult. You need to be over 50 years of age. You could try to obtain a Non Imm O visa in your own country, or even arrive with a retirement visa already, Non-Imm O-A. I suggest you simply look up the requirements/qualifications for these on your local Thai Embassy website. Most will arrive with the former, or even with a visa waiver or tourist visa, and convert it locally to a Non-Imm O within Thailand, then apply for an extension of stay, based on retirement. There are a few different ways to proceed from here but, most straight forward, is to put 800,000 Thai baht (currently) in a Thai bank account, and do not let the balance fall below that for 2 months (known as seasoning), then you can apply to immigration for a one year extension based on retirement, various copies of passport, bank books etc will be required. Check this out...
  23. Cool and breezy this morning.

  24. Similarly the booze shop attached to Best Supermarket at the NE corner Dolphin roundabout. I bought a litre bottle last time I passed through Dubai and put it on my UK credit card. When the total came through I was shocked as it was about the same as what 2 pint bottles in the UK supermarket. Anyone passing through Swampy should make a note of King Power prices and I will compare to local shop prices.
