  1. Not too much detail in open area please guys.
  2. They line up on 2nd Rd just past Tai and you can negotiate with them, they will take you any-place you want. Or you could just jump on, pay the 10 baht each and get off at Soi Diana and walk through from there, it would be a churlish girl who thought this too strenuous. Stop at beer bar on way. Option 3, girl with own motorbike... it happens! From Soi 6 it would be more messing about. Get a 3up motorcycle taxi!
  3. I think it was over ten years since I last went in, it looks the same! First taken in by a TG, heaven knows how long back that was, I bet over 20 years. Once off it was a place for very good fast Thai dishes, I often went for their duck curry. One day in the past I took a look inside and it had lost that 'Thainess' atmosphere. Next door but 2 or 3 was The Berlin Cafe where I often had lunch, their soups (particularly Hungarian Goulash) with fresh baguette hit the spot. They seemed to have an excellent selection of cakes, no fairy cakes though, they did the serving. Thanks for the memories.
  4. In Thailand, hot, cloudy, and a marked improvement over UK.

  5. Lou Diamond Phillips
  6. Jeff Goldblum

  8. Just booked via Mr Toom and usual quick response (within an hour actually). Perhaps someone went to visit Mama at Mr T.
  9. One of my earlier domestic flights in the USA I was astounded to be given something similar on quite a long flight. Perhaps it was a bag of nuts. That was perhaps in the old days when BA were better......I often relate the tale of when I was flying Club Class and commented to the trolley dolly, 'Oh, when it said Shrimp salad, I didn't realise it was a shrimp, with salad' I once used to look forward to my BA flights to Heathrow, stilton and a glass of port! Glad you explained what a 'FUN sized chocolate bar' is, this is also supposed to be for our benefit to stop us eating too much sweets. I remember when a Yorkie bar or a Marathon Bar used to be a good snack, now it isn't worth bothering, but costs the same. I too noticed my Emirates puff pouch (in Biz) was only given on the overnight leg, but it was a pretty good one. For reference.

  17. Seriously I went into the town centre yesterday, a trip of just over a mile, a quid return! Pity it isn't really worth going, beggars dotted around who all look able bodied, the police don't seem to worry about them. Shops are mostly charity shops, gambling shops and Pound Shops! No police about, but plenty traffic wardens. If it were not for a rather good Wetherspoons......
  18. Perhaps 4 years of chaos ir we are lucky! Pattaya tunnel behind schedule, more delays expected, Pattaya Mail
  19. Our Starter will be...... Fight Club
  20. New start as a dead end reached! Rules Reminder. The first post will be a MOVIE The next person posts the name of an actor/actress in that movie Then the next post is a different movie starring that actor/actress Then repeat in that sequence. DO not use the internet to find the answer. If a day (24 hours) goes by without an answer, then it's fair game to use the internet to find an answer. Actor/actress must be credited & the movie should not be a direct to video or TV movie. New Rule, please note! If an actor has been named for a particular movie in the thread, that actor cannot be used again for that specific movie. (This will avoid repeats and make it harder. Please use quote function so that answers include the original question to help this to be checked.)
  21. Well done......
  22. Shopping Around for my return trip I came across a surprise contender for Manchester to Bangkok, Business Class return. (Outward this month, return Sept-Oct.) Cathay Pacific coming in £200-300 less than Emirates (they are about £2090). Mixed in with their usual horrific price is the bargain with 'few' seats left so be flexible on your dates by a few days. This is a good carrier (77XWB ouward), Hong Kong is a good transit place and I liked both departure and arrival times. Layover in HKG outward short, but beware, they try to stick you with a long wait on the return leg, but you can scroll down and select a better one, with later BKK departure. Don't go thinking the travel time is any longer as it really isn't. I didn't try Economy but it may be worth a look. Beats a Helsinki transfer! I will probably be on Emirates...love the A380 and Limo service.
  23. My UK town centre was busy as anything yesterday. The buses offer cheap special prices in and out. Pity most of them were foreigners who appeared to be mooching.
  24. I was waiting at Dubai for my connection on Tuesday AM. To be honest my own landing there earlier was a heavy one. Same model (as my previous flight, not the same as the crash landing) ot aircraft landed very smoothly at Manchester.
