It's dependent on how long you expect to keep it. Firstly I expect you have a Thai driving licence and a long-term visa that will allow you to own a vehicle... after that it is a matter of working it out. A top of the range truck will be up to say a million baht, insurance, maintenance and tax each year on top. If your rental is 115k each trip it will be 8-9 years before covering those expenses.... not including any resale value on the truck. I used to rent a motorcycle for 1800/month, and the TGF persuaded me it was a waste of money. At first I was sceptical as a 55,000 baht outlay looked more of a commitment than a saving. I still have the same bike after 9 years and obviously saved a bundle! And still have the bike running and looking good... one bad accident could have changed all that though.

To be honest I would look to lodgings off the LK Metro St unless you plan on keeping similar hours.

Well most of the time I was calling from the UK and needing to talk to Thailand. I also think that likely I would get better English understanding from India. Perhaps Expedia will come through yet, it is just that you do get screwed around from pillar to post and a sense of being fobbed off.

I did actually get a call from Expedia saying I would get a refund in 10-12 weeks! But until I see the money ... we shall have to see. Thinking about it the UK taxes on an Ex-UK Biz Class flight are probably quite a lot, and since I did not take the flight they should be refunded.... I have already paid some more taxes on a booking and flight taken later.
