  1. Great photos and report FBWY. I was talking with someone yesterday who thought the tunnel was scheduled to open next March. That seems optimistic and really only just over 2 years from when this thread started. Can't recall when work actually started but I do recall nothing much seemed to be happening for quite a long time.... it was getting equipment there and erecting barriers, and goofing around trying to make up their minds wrt traffic directions around the area. I drive through it most Sundays in both directions and it seemed particularly slow progress yesterday. Vehicles coming in and out of the construction area, pavement construction along Sukhumvit, and about 15 coaches of Chinese U-turning and then queueing to get into Rubber World. Even when I used North Rd the other day I wondered why the Police have built a little tented area with a desk and chairs near the Gems Gallery which seems to serve no other purpose than bottle necking the traffic. Oh well, when it does get finished they only have to move the equipment 2km up the road to the Tai junction and start digging there.
  2. Prolonged dry spell again... need more rain.

  3. Here is a list..... Can't find the one in Naklua I used many years ago. Used to lie you down, stick needles into you and then attach connectors from some electrical gadget. Then left you for an hour while you twitched at random and became decidedly uncomfortable. Probably for the best as it didn't alleviate my issue. After 5 treatments without benefit I quit and was told 'oh you need at least 10'.... I was being lead on.
  4. I might just be on it.... although getting to the airport at 8am-ish .... maybe not.

  9. I don't believe ANY pool changes the water, perhaps you are thinking of a jacuzzi or bath! It is recirculated through filters and usually chlorine or salt added with chlorine created. Generally the appearance of the pool is a good indicator.
  10. Seriously? I would be happier to get 50+. How our expectations have changed!

  14. £ just bumped up yesterday. If you plan on sending money obviously look at the SCB or Bangkok bank sites. The cash rate at say the TT exchange places normally looks a tiny bit better, and the bank takes B500 off me as well.

  18. I only have the 'TT' rate off the SCB site showing 43.5 baht/£, date 23/04/2013 as my minimum, but I wasn't in the habit of recording it daily. It soon started to recover from that. A little more 'action' in the UK might move it back up. Coincidentally, looking at Biz Class airfares on Emirates ex Manchester yesterday shows they have gone down in £! Low season I know but I thought less than last year.
  19. Yes it sure is! And Butch had a point too.
  20. Perhaps I should sell my Thai house and take the profit in £ terms and go live back in the UK? ......No I don't think so. According to my graph, back below 45/£ today.... that is nearly as low as it got in April 2013. That one was caused by the EU/Euro crisis. It isn't recovering any-time soon, but, during my recent trip to UK very little was being mentioned of this and family members were still going off on overseas holidays despite the weak £.
  21. That said, I was there yesterday and was looking back across the street from Fra Pattaya, and thinking my ancient memory of the place was of it being closer to Beach Rd. Did it ever move a few shop-houses East?
  22. Better weather lately, cloudier, cooler with nightime thunderstorms.
