Well if you cannot get a tourist visa, which would be my recommendation, you may have to bring evidence of a throwaway ticket/booking with you. It is possible you may be asked to show travel bookings out of Thailand prior to the expiration of the 30 day visa exempt stamp to check-in for your flight. It is also possible (slim chance) immigration in Thailand would want to see something similar. I suggest something you could cancel and get a refund for... then a 1800 baht extension at immigration becomes an easier option than the flight in and out.. (or a land crossing). Note a land crossing will only get you 15 days.

Pity Qatar do not offer a limo to the airport for Biz Class. At 70 miles limit (Manchester) would you qualify for that? Allowance irrelevant to me, normally exit LOS with an empty suitcase. I bet your missus could fill a container.

It's dependent on how long you expect to keep it. Firstly I expect you have a Thai driving licence and a long-term visa that will allow you to own a vehicle... after that it is a matter of working it out. A top of the range truck will be up to say a million baht, insurance, maintenance and tax each year on top. If your rental is 115k each trip it will be 8-9 years before covering those expenses.... not including any resale value on the truck. I used to rent a motorcycle for 1800/month, and the TGF persuaded me it was a waste of money. At first I was sceptical as a 55,000 baht outlay looked more of a commitment than a saving. I still have the same bike after 9 years and obviously saved a bundle! And still have the bike running and looking good... one bad accident could have changed all that though.
