  1. I believe I am losing 0.5-1.0 cm each day from my pool due purely to evaporation and a few thirsty birds.
  2. Many a rumour of a guy with a spare set of keys going round to the hotel car park in the early hours years ago.
  3. Slippery buggers......
  4. One of the reasons I gave up doing Songkran was Thai gang fights occurring on Phratamnak near the Thrappaya junction. Big sticks of wood involved and nasty. A few years later I thought we had a corpse at the end of a street near where I live and nervously approached it wondering if I should get involved, just a passed out-drunk Thai kid up against the wall in the rain. It isn't all the serene pouring of water over the old-folks hands.
  5. Great fun as usual.
  6. Patton., shit used already, by ME! The Sting 2
  7. High temperatures forecast.... you may be glad of the water! Probably not though.

I know... I've been keeping an eye on the forecast for uttaradit and it's hitting 41 during this week

  8. You will also have to park a long way from the main building at say the BHP... probably in the multi-storey... so someone to drive and drop you would be better
  9. Well done....I actually drove past yesterday but was already hot and sticky and this weather takes it out of me. I would have been upset had I stopped and then been scooped by you.
  10. Well I have experienced that 3 seat configuration on other carriers, perhaps KLM, whose Biz service on to Manchester is rather poor too. I have also been sat in regular seats and the only differences noticeable are the service and the writing on the cloth stuck to the head rest. Yes I shall post some comments on my flight. As the outward hop is a daytime one I should have a better recollection of it than I do with the usual over-night trips via the Mid-East.
  11. Birdman of Alcatraz
  12. You said 'toll gate'...... is this tunnel going to charge for use? I just don't see that speeding up Sukhumvit traffic!
  13. Phew......afternoon naps back on the schedule.

  14. Well that and your mobility issues seem a lot to handle and risky.
  15. 24hr Hello Dolly
  16. I didn't even know there was a Bangkok Hospital, South Pattaya Branch! I had a bout of food poisoning a month ago... easy this time of year with the heat. I sent my Mrs to go get some 'powders', I was thinking more along the lines of 'Eno's' antacid. She came back with some electrolyte powders which I gave her back... thinking dopey pharmacists! It was only later that I looked them up and realised they were likely a better option than Eno's. Bet mine were cheaper! Glad you recovered.

    Bite Me!

I am guessing he means the black-skinned ones. Pic comes from here...
  18. This place is nearly completed, sorry couldn't be arsed stopping to take pics in 35 degC! Sure went up better than The Harbour Mall...that is a place I have yet to visit and would make a good pictorial review (forcebwithu ???)
  19. That is bad news BigD. Do you really think undertaking a trip from the USA to Thailand is a good idea with this condition....? If you need treatment so frequently, surely the travel time is a great concern, flight delays could be catastrophic. You probably know that you may have to restrict eating while on the flights and arrange dialysis soon after arrival. A six year old thread on Thai Visa Of course everyone will expect the BHP to be able to accommodate you, but the PIH can also help.
  20. I recall in the village the men were sitting around and drinking beer and eating raw pork, which I declined. Not just because I was worried about raw pork, but I was still shaken from hearing the poor beast squealing for 20 minutes as a botch-job of killing it was exercised. My Mrs is particularly fussy and restricts my dining somewhat... no beef, lamb, duck, shellfish and offal. etc etc She avoided ice-cream for years until once sampling mine on a flight, commenting how it tastes good.... she must think I eat these things because they don't!
  21. Excellent information and looks fantastic, sadly I do not have an oven! Be careful, I think this guy is talking degrees Fahrenheit! It would be a waste to turn a nice slab of rib-eye into a cinder-block.
  22. Haha, yes I did Tarom once too, what crap! A lot of fun sitting under armed guard in transit in Bucharest. Not as bad as your experience though! Biman, I recall seeing them listed in Kuwait as I waited, I thought their full name was Biman delayed 7 hours.
  23. That singer guy.... Adam Faith
  24. I guess the dental work has been completed, I hope that went well. Does the Mrs not eat that Thai shrimp dish where it is raw? ( I forget the name)? There are many where it is simply pickled too.
  25. Interesting thoughts on Gulf Butch, I used them a lot when I was working in the Middle East. At that time it was as if they were running a bus service and we often joked how we had visited Muscat, Bahrain, Doha, back to Muscat because some Sheik had called them up and eventually to Dammam! I recall that the seats in economy were small, they were good in business class, and generally good in the air, but on the ground they were terrible Boarding always seemed chaotic. Your Missus may be recalling a past incident where a very inexperienced Gulf Air pilot (local) was attempting to land in Manama and making a pigs ear of it and ultimately crashed. That sure worried me thinking they got some really inexperienced pilots, prior to that the pilot was rarely from the Gulf, many were from Europe, particularly Eastern Europe. I think a lot of Qatar, but I couldn't get a price I liked in Biz Class this year so I am off home via Helsinki this month, trying one of those new A350s.
