  2. Wonderful, some rain this morning.

  3. Probably wise, when you put them down you can never find them again. I have lost many that way......... Anybody ever notice their beer appears to be going down rather quickly?
  4. The pic where there is a tower behind and in front of it is surely a Boeing 747-8?

  6. Kept in waiting for the water truck... those big plastic bottles. Normally arrives about 09.30-10.00 but it was nearer midday when they rattled up the road. Paid the phone bill at the 7-11. ATM out of order so had to run around to another Bangkok bank one ..... don't know why I didn't use the SCB one adjacent to it! Then decided to give my ACs a run as sitting idle does them no good and the damned thing will let you down when you need it ... might be having a guest next month. Bugger me if one isn't working... the inside part seems okay and the outside part (compressor unit), well the fan is running but it isn't blasting out hot air like it should be. Probably compressor itself or out of gas. If out of gas that is a problem as it suggests a leak. Called up my usual guys, they come round after they have done their days work and do a bit of 'moonlighting'. Two arrive spot on 6pm and start taking things apart. Farang brings them a battery drill to get the screws out faster, and I also supply a stubby screwdriver to get at the screws on the back. Embarrass one of the lads as he seems to be incapable of figuring out 'righty-tighty, leftie loosey' is reversed when working on a screw at the back! They aren't too bright around here, but he was smart enough to figure out it was the swelled capacitor stopping the compressor running using substitution. Will I end up with 2 defective units! They find a substitute capacitor, and now the unit works and I double check the other one they were messing with. Well done lads and I send them on their way with 1200 baht and a big cold Leo. Result, I was looking at a new Daikin from Homepro for 18200 baht.... I think I will go on the Walking St tonight. Tried to book my truck in for a service, can't do it until next week on Friday, unusual as normally I can book it in with a day or two notice. Bad enough I have to drive around the tunnel construction to get there! Every cloud has a silver lining though, had to postpone next weeks trip to her village...
  7. Another hot bright start to the day.... another scorcher?

  8. It was not meant as one as I have no experience of Spankys in Bangkok. It may well mean more to those who do, and those who think she is not Thai. I read it in Stick, who is not even in Thailand.
  9. I read she was responsible for Spankys in Bangkok (which was very popular) and has been sent to Pattaya to work her magic here.

  11. Plumbing this morning, fixed a sprinkler valve (ie replaced it and the other blue plastic bits and got glue all over my fingers.) Then had a swim, showered and rode to the barbers. As I sat waiting I watched the barber stick a long cocaine spoon and other implements into this guys ears and remove clumps of wax...... disgusting. The guy also had this strange gunk on his head, which might have been dye but wasn't black. Got my hair cut, neck and ears shaved and eyebrows trimmed etc. Barber took his time, about 1/2 hour, and I paid him far less than the UK minimum wage, sacrilege!!!! Off for a massage too, then bought some more plumbing bits at Homepro, ready for the next failure, also got some G-Clamps, might be useful. Was going to go into Subway for a foot-long but a big fat bastard was coming out as I approached so I changed my mind. Seems quiet around, few motorcycles parked at the side of BigC-X, and didn't have to queue at the checkout in there, unheard of on a Monday. Has it been quiet around town for a while, or did it start today? I have been away a few weeks. A bit of rain, but not much really. New sprinkler valve will be idle though and I shall just 'water' myself with a cold SML.
  12. The skies are currently rumbling, I hope we get some needed rain.

  13. Back in Thailand, rather enjoyed whizzing about on the bike.

Thanks, glad to be back. What a miserable place my homeland is!

  14. I always thought that was you MM!
  15. Bloody cold and wet in the UK, global warming, what utter BS!

  16. I won't, I am in Europe and cannot watch it!
  17. Actually not, been many 'improvements' over the years. Raw sewage used to flow down it.
  18. It also produced a good price on a 1st Class Emirates for me for Manchester BKK. (£1500 less than usual) Biz class regular results.
  19. Well possibly the same as me..... saving £50! There is electrification work on the line I use that I was not aware of....plus Monday strikes were being threatened... on a bank holiday of course. What are we, French! Taxi next week!
  20. Qatar do not, but at the moment British Rail are offering an exercise in frustration, cancellations and tardiness on my particular route.
  21. I see the Dr Belen clinic mentioned above. If that is the one I am thinking of, opposite the side of the 2nd Rd Bangkok Bank, it is no longer there. Anyone know where she moved to?
  22. £450 to upgrade one leg is equivalent of £900 difference for the round trip. Debatable... not really such a bargain in my eyes.. Your choice, but I go for the way you are treated as a passenger in Biz rather than a sheep in economy, The A380 Biz class experience is great. The Qatar-Manchester leg not so great. Only you can decide if the money can be used better elsewhere, especially in Pattaya...... Factor in the Fast Track check in and security. The lounge access at BKK (use the Thai lounges at the ABC concourse end)..a beer or two. Non queue boarding. Welcome champagne and comfy seat etc. Access to the distant premium lounge in Doha with waiter service restaurant.
  23. I get frequent mild cases during the hot-hot season. Rather difficult for her with these local markets in this heat. Since Thailand is in the company in that list of USA (I guess) and India where I have never and definitely had food poisoning respectively I wonder if there is any basis to it. I practice caution but still get it.....
  24. You were fortunate to see such good weather....none of it 'up North'....
  25. Give it a try some time, you may like it. I obviously took pics of a few other things, but they did not turn out very well...... I was thinking to do a report on Qatar Biz Class you see. New transit airport etc I won't bother you with it.
