There is a realism about the way they look, although I wonder if I would do better seeing them on something other than my computer screen. Although it appears the sun is out the blueness of the sky looks too dark. I also get an impression of the sun as being low in the sky

I am still angered by the way the Nana and Ambassador coffee shops put up the price of a bottle of beer to match the GGBs in the Plaza way back when! Oh for the days when I could grab a beer from the mini bar at a similar cost to Friendship. Now I have to be severely impaired to need one of them there $8 beers!

Yes of course they do....... but perhaps customers are sometimes a little surprised by how much.

I am sorry, but I don't expect inferior standards purely because I am a visitor. In some other countries I would find superior service than at 'home'... but if it is a business, in the service industry, a certain level and standard is expected and must be maintained. I shouldn't have to be giving staff a break or cutting them some slack, beyond perhaps language difficulties and unforeseen problems.I don't mean the PBG by this but some establishments in Thailand are absolutely hopeless.

I would often like to see the drinks menu when a 'lunch special' is offered. Sure, 380 nett for a buffet at a 5 star hotel sounds like a good deal..... but I was at a neighbouring hotel and had 2 beers with the food and that was about 380 nett too. Now I have spent 760 baht and am dithering over the fact I could 'go another'.....

Well £49 is a LOT more than £12...... and you know one of those courses will be the bread roll! I did look up Wetherspoons and it was a very reasonable £7.25 including drink though. A turkey isn't so common here and a bit of a treat.....they are bargain basement in the UK this time of year. And there are many more diversions around the DD than in a cold and dreary UK town centre on a Christmas day, where you will be charged triple taxi fare by a surly driver from Pakistan!

£12....in Thailand, I looked a few up in the UK, and £30 in Glasgow, £20 for 2 courses, £25 for 3 in NW England. I didn't even consider London. Are you considering a cheap curry or something?

I thought I had reasonable 'cod' in Goosie's once. A lot of other places you might not know what 'fish' is in the fish and chips and its rather a difficult question to get across to the staff. Often you get a thin fish (it might be large but no thickness) which is soft and I really don't like it. I believe many UK chippys are substituting their cod with something else too.

I believe so.I hear various Fish and Chip shops or places for Fish and Chips being recommended but to be honest it is a meal 'off my list' now for some time. For exactly the reason you suggested.....good old cod, or grouper is expensive and something cheap gets substituted in many places and you end up with some insipid mush inside the batter. I like the meaty flakes of grouper, but even at my Thai restaurant, where I used to have a freshly killed whole one steamed I am less likely to order it due to the way the price has gone. The snapper is inferior.

Well I was thinking more along the lines of pickles, relish, cheese, ketchup and the likes. I appreciate that minced beef in the USA is good stuff ground up, rather than how it is in the UK..... often fat and trimmings get tossed in. Likely the local meat is fed differently, although the odd burger I have had here I haven't had an issue....I liberally add Lea and Perrins!

My last UK one was a 'Sunday lunchtime special'........I thought it strange thing to have instead of roast lamb and mint sauce but it was a social gathering. It was a good price...any starter....any main...one bread or rice extra thing, excepting prawn dishes.It seemed reasonable I think at about £15/head, but the beer wasn't cheap and they certainly gave you plenty of time to drink it. Packed with kids too.... rather have the roast lamb and then go down the pub.

Most burgers I had in the USA there was so much other shit in there I couldn't taste the meat!

I am guessing he wasn't there at the time.I wouldn't consider the PBG as a breakfast place. I am also sure it is difficult to get good staff here, and they have a penchant for just not turning up when they don't feel like it. They also don't react well to criticism. I don't envy Pete trying to run this business, bad reputation comes instantly and good has to be built up slowly. Every now and again a bad report for PBG comes in and Pattaya Pete gets back to herding cats.
