There are very solid wooden desks available, I think it was in-front of Homeworks South Pattaya I saw them. They are hard wood and weigh about 3 tons. Actually the craftsmanship lets the wood down on close inspection... they also cost a fair bit. They must be possible to get from the Northern areas, Chiangmai, as the name suggests.

I used to do 4 week breaks in Pattaya, I found after the initial week of running wild I got into a routine and a more relaxed lifestyle. With your normal routine of exercising and going to the beach, well that is very much available in Pattaya, more so than other places. Plenty to do here, or nothing if you prefer that. A side trip for 2 or 3 days may break any boredom (Koh Chang, Samet eg).

Well Index would be out.... there are a couple of places I have used on roads that connect to Sukhumvit. One on Klang, on your left as you head Sukhumvit. There is one about soi 6, just b4 foodland, another bigger one right on the corner of the slip road onto Suk. Anoither place on the small rd to suk off Yume, turn right after the cooked food market (36/1), again left side just ahead of Suk. Second hand places are everywhere, but don't be surprised if the prices are close to new, send the TGF in after you have looked. Another option is to go to the auctions....Link

Well thanks for the information.A fun read. I thought I spotted a lurker in Mistys when I saw Andy and PSP using these E-cigs. It must have been the doctor supervising them.

As you head to the Lukdod shop, ie turn left at BigC-Xtra, Soi Yume, immediately behind the Mall there is a tourist shopping place which, although not cheap, is convenient, everything in one place and air-conditioned. It seems to be aimed at the Russians and they seem to think others aren't allowed in... but it is on my normal route homeward so easy to pop in.

I most certainly have seen them being used....... not by many I might add.No knowledge of them being banned here.... but would it matter if they were? Good luck quitting.

What is more expensive in Pattaya
jacko replied to harro1's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Well of course having copy (read free) operating system will knock the price down, but I think a home premium legitimate will only add about 5000 baht. I added Office too for 2800 baht.I certainly paid more for my new Vaio in Thailand, than your 18k, but it was cheaper than something similar in the UK...they have 20% VAT over there! -
You see, we have something to thank Clinton for after all.... he created the forgive-me wail!(Although I think Jimmy Swaggart started it all off)

Agreed, they are certainly not very accepting of being painted in a bad light.

I was often sent home to get my hair cut.... once because I had to read a sermon that evening. This 'affront' the Thais feel really does show them up..... If the Thais don't like their image then they should work at changing it rather than whining when someone mentions the reality. It is pathetic this 'it's okay if nobody mentions it'.....

I wouldn't know, I have only ever booked via email, and to a 'Toom'.I do have the habit of using a particular driver to go to the airport, as I know he can find my house. The return from the airport is the cheaper Toom ride.

You seem to be criticising the guy based on a bad experience. Fine, I would too and never use him again. Make a complaint to him about that particular driver and stay away from him (T or Toom, not sure).Personally Toom has not given me a bad experience in many rides, everything has worked out fine. My worst experience was one of those 900 baht deals from some tout in Pattaya..... and sounds so much like yours. I think your driver was up all night drinking lao khao waiting for his 6am pickup.... hence the surly attitude! As to the problem with the girlfriend, perhaps she should have been left with the responsibility of paying him, after being suitably dropped off.

All the way..... and at Sukhumvit you even have a choice of going left (south) for Klang and Tai or there are traffic lights to allow you to turn right,(North) towards Nua. Just ahead of that junction is an exit that will get you on the Southward side of the railway bypass rd to go towards Soi Siam CC road and the darkside.

In these times of austerity we all have to learn to make sacrifices. Leave the wife and kids behind! (a jest sir).

I was pleased at first as I felt yippee, no need to water the garden. Ten minutes later, stood there getting drenched and blown around trying to sweep the broken glass away to prevent it getting washed into my pool, I was not so pleased. The TGF was at the market and had gone there on her pedal bike..... she said stall umbrellas were being blown off to Laem Chabang and the runner beans were really on the move.

I ask because where I am, about 15 km North East of Pattaya, yesterday at about 4.30pm, the heavens opened out here. There was a lot of wind and it was pretty lively. Horizontal rain and gusty winds. It filled my pool up, blew a clock off my wall and broke a few palm leaves. My Sophon cable went out but my electricity and internet stayed on..... My water is off this morning too. The storm came in from the West, and I can't believe it didn't do a bit of damage some-place. Likely it stayed North of town.
