  1. I recall Thailand being named and wondering if it would affect my living here. The EU and USA likely wants to know all about it's nationals banking activities in Thailand........ using 'terrorism' as an excuse to get such information. The quote above only suggests my Thai CCs will be restricted to use in LOS.... well at the moment that is the case except when buying flight tickets. I made a medium sized transfer into my Thai account from overseas last month and all went normally. (Is that really the guy's name!!!!!!!)
  2. It was edited some days later....the OP did not.
  3. I like it her in Oz.You give several reasons why Pattaya is better, which I could readily add to, not difficult. Then you lose all cred by claiming Phuket isn't more expensive than Pattaya. How much is a baht bus?.
  4. How do you know that?I think it is quite an honour to be used to upholster an nice Bentley Continental.
  5. I am inclined to think he just doesn't give a flying fuxk.
  6. He left his wallet in a bar I think. And it was handed in.
  7. We all had a go at spelling it a while back. I think I mentioned it 'quickened my pace'....... Limmatquai 80 Bar.
  8. Karl Malden
  9. Yes I was slightly confused by the 300 baht price and a tab of 800, and presumed it was for 2, with a drink or 3.I still think these 'rock lobsters' look like something out of an Indiana Jones film that crawls all over the bad guys, the Oz term bugs works. I have never tried the horseshoe crabs for the same reason, seen plenty at the Chonburi seafood market, but they remind me of the creature in Alien that was suffocating John Hurt. 2 slices short's claim above that some of the over the water places on WS 'replace' lobster flesh with something else is very disconcerting, those lobster strips made from monk fish perhaps.
  10. It is a small world, full of coincidences. After dinner last night I went to the fair/fete/festival at Nong Ket Yai Wat, and there they were on sale. I bought the TGF a white one, I tasted it and found it overly sweet.... she said it tasted like a kids drink (mind you she has long forsaken coolers for Regency brandy and soda and is adapting to my less sweet-toothed tastes, so we gave it to the kid ) Again coincidentally, it is named Full Moon, and last night, it was.
  11. Burt Lancaster
  12. 105 baht or 119 baht Gabor?Good looking scallop shells, but rock lobster... well they look like cockroaches, and certainly not like lobster. Not keen on the addition of the word 'rock' to something, a bit of a con, does it actually taste like a rock? Neat you can pop out pics for everything in your past.
  13. Keep it up guys, pretending you can't quite remember the name.
  14. Frank Sinatra
  15. You are paying for 12M/1M and the router is showing a max of 7/0,5. Your SNR margin is pretty low at 6.6 / 5.6...mine is 19/19 db, I really don't know enough to be sure but it looks like your line is rather poor.... is this your home or the bar? If the bar it would not surprise me... wet lines with a lot of neon lights nearby. You need to go to the office and have a bitching session... I send the TGF, she is a Tasmanian devil in a frock.
  16. Have you seen how they are hanging off the back these days, many do not seem to have those bars actually wrapped around them....It would only take a chrome bar slippery from say sun-tan lotion for a one handed grip to fail. I have stopped using them, the Russians don't seem to want to shuffle up and let one sit and I do not want to become a grisly picture on a Pattaya rag.
  17. Certainly Pattaya does not need empty taxis cruising around choking up traffic.... the baht buses are an issue in that respect. Interesting that the taxis get prime parking opposite the shopping centres, where the baht buses permit it. I think the baht buses are doing quite well these days, down beach Rd and coming from Jomtiem they are full and expect people to dangerously hang off the back. As you say they are a strong mafia and the man supposedly at the top defers to them, similarly per his ineptitude or unwillingness in stamping out the jet-ski scammers.
  18. Found this on the internet... Remove the stings and pincers from the scorpions. Marinate for 30 minutes in white wine, honey and lemon. Bake in a 250°C oven for 5 minutes. Stir-fry the endives, together with garlic, pepper and salt. Serve them hot on plates and add 50 g of herb cheese, allowing it to melt. Top each plate with a few scorpions. If you must, you must.
  19. Thanks for letting me know what middens are!If indeed you do get them, giant prawns and scallops (a favourite of mine), at 300 that is still pretty good..... do they ration these expensive items? Perhaps when Gabor went it was one of these basic pork BBQs where you cook your own entrails and can dump lettuce and cabbage in the soup...... crap. I do a seafood meal weekly and 2 persons with a big Leo for me normally just under 1000 or just over. That is outside town, I gave up on the over the sea tourist traps when they started taking the piss, and 10 baht for a cold wipe.
  20. Where did you hear that?It seems more likely that they hope to make more than the standard meter charge. It also offers an opportunity to fiddle the records of takings. My experience is that they would NOT like to turn them on....... now you have me nervous that if he does we will be mobbed by angry baht bus drivers.
  21. Yes, a tip would have been a good move. My main wallet gets left at home when I go out!
  22. Well of course being Irish you would have a selection of potatoes in your pocket. Be careful though, looking closely at the mechanism in mine, it appears you only need to make a catch jump as you try to turn the knob, which appears to be what the guy is doing. It is gravity dependent. I have it fixed it in a location where you struggle to get near it. There was also quite a few safes broken into in a Pattaya hotel not so long ago. I am thinking a crowbar would suffice......link
  23. I have never seen these in the shops. At a guess, there is sometimes a stall selling Thai 'wine' in the Malls. I see them often at Big C South, and sometimes at Big C Xtra. Perhaps there. My TGF always liked 'Cooler Club' but I gave up on them as they were hard to find. Spy is crap.
  24. You make some good points lovedog but I might opine...1) If you mean the UTube video of opening a safe with a potato I am cynical that this really works...... It sure is more convenient to have a safe in the room. 2) Normally a 'front desk' security box key has a tab with the number on it! Hopefully front desk will not provide access to someone else. 3) Putting your wallet away at night really only suit an in room safe. I have had a front desk security box broken into... admittedly not the 2 key type. I have been fortunate with in-room safes.
  25. Agreed, I use it a lot, although when the sun is on it you can't see the screen, also being outside in that sun isn't my idea of fun this time of year! Plus it is the opposite end of town for me. I do okay in Tesco on Nua..... but my own stupid fault if I go early in the month.
