I just jumped in and bought my Biz Class BKK to Manchester........ Etihad were coming in cheapest (excluding rubbish airlines) and when I took a look recently what was over 98,000 baht last week, was available at 88,060 baht, so I jumped in. Now that it is bought for sure the specials will come pouring out!

Yes TVs,DVDs and Aircons are the only items I am likely to need, but they of course do computers and a big one is mobile phones. There are cameras, fridges, washing machines, ovens, vacuum cleaners, printers. Worked out pretty well for you with a repair on a computer bought outside LOS, but a friend of mine has had a lot of problems with his laptop but keeps taking it back to somewhere in Tukcom.

It is an important factor which should be considered when buying. I have known friends be without their laptop for months as it was 'repaired under warranty' by IT City. Returning things to Big C means you introduce an intermediary, surely they don't fix them themselves. I had a reasonable result with my LG.... bad that it failed soon after purchase from then Carrefour, but I took it to LG on Sukhumvit and had it back fixed for free, in a week. Easier than looking like a twit carrying a 40" TV up the mall escalator! As said, Numchai does have it's own repair shop. Most shops will not replace an item, just arrange repair, leaving you a blank wall to watch. On that note my Numchai bought Samsung has been problem free for 3 years now.(But dam I wish I had bought it later, they are 1/3 the price now!)

I shall be round there tonight as a friend will arriving in town and staying there. The earlier pics look like the older part, formerly The Residence Suites before it all came under the single name of Residence Garden (or is it the other way round?). Anyhow the block nearer to Jomtiem with bigger places. They appear to have been renovated since I last used one and look very good. It will be a little nostalgic for me to visit there as it was always my place of choice for my 1 month R&Rs from working in shit-holes, and I was always quite happy there.

I think that the next trip you do, come to the Expats Club meeting, and ask there. I know a few people who have several properties and live off the income, and seem content. 1) Location is important, but the building very. You need a regulated one with a good management team, that keep it clean and maintain it. It may also work better if your properties are located near to each other for ease of supervision. 2) Studios, cheaper to buy and rent. 3) Success... never a guarantee there. They are building condos like crazy here, you have to wonder will the market be saturated soon. But at the moment, the Russian hoards love the warm climate and are keeping the market buoyant. 4)+5) You need to be here and learn for yourself. Don't trust your money to other people, particularly Realtors (Estate agents), who are commission driven. If your plan entails nipping over here, buying a property, renting it, then going home to earn more for another property, think again. All those I have met obviously live here full time. I want to stress that I do not rent out property here, I feel Pattaya/ Thailand is a great place to retire, not to do business as a foreigner. For every condo you can buy in your name, there is one that can be bought in the same building, for a much cheaper price, by a Thai person, and rented out.
