In the particular case of the one you read perhaps, but since I used a plural that wasn't what I was referring specifically to was it.

It is linked in my first post... I hope HE read it! -
3 Day entertainment venue closure announced
jacko replied to MM's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
This was the reason for the postponement of the music festival, and I guess the authorities want to clear the way for a jai-dee songkran. -
Get a cheap unlocked phone. A True Move Inter SIM card costs 120 baht (with 5 baht credit....wow). Calls to a UK landline are 1 baht/min, a mobile is 6 baht. Or consider Skype or Yahoo Messenger in the comfort of an internet cafe.

Should we put off travel due to floods?
jacko replied to ozinpatts's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Darn, bad thing to read early in a morning. Young at 51...... -
Yep, was a post on it a month or so back that I can't be be bothered searching out..... I wasn't sure myself prior to that as I kept looking for the place and was unable to spot it when I went down Threpasit. (No surprise there, I whizzed past the Ford dealers 3 times too as I went for the service). The location always surprised me too, like it was ignoring the tourist custom stuck out there.

Retirement Visa from USA.... need input from those who have them.

I did mine in 2 days.... one day of prep, getting the bank letter, making copies of stuff, next day sat in immigration doing it. Walked out with it same day.One requirement for the extension is financial means. You have to prove you either have income (a pension), necessitating the Embassy letter. The embassies are very familiar with doing, and charging for this service. Alternatively a letter off the bank confirming 800k baht on deposit for at least 3 months. This is my preferred option. Be aware, if you arrive with a single entry Non-Imm O, you have 90 days to get things organised. If you arrive with a single entry tourist visa, you have 60 days + potential 30 day extension. I believe if you are not in Thailand, you simply need an exit-reentry permit, then can return before the retirement extension expires. I personally have not done the visa-waiver/ tourist visa conversion to a Non-Imm O (in Thailand), with the aim of a retirement extension, but it would sound simpler to arrive with the Non-Imm O if you can. Further info on visas start here.. -

Sorry Nev, BS. I called in at 9.00pm last night and 2 for 1 was not available on a bottle of Heinekin! It seemed to be there only for a selection of 3 mixed well drinks. I read a poster over the bar... one item was 'covered' but I was informed that was Gin. You had better reiterate what is on offer because what I quoted isn't it. I hate having my time wasted...... it is a moderate trek from the entrance to WS to the ghosts of GGs past at the far end there!

It is one of the 3 choices I suppose, along with usufruct and Thai wife/GF's name and 30 year lease. They all hold a risk and that very limitation should make people consider renting. Quite a few 'wives' get a hard on and leave a man homeless!

It often depends on the time of day... they rarely employ 2 good cooks so if the primary one is out back eating somtam and yakking on his/her phone, you get the girl who normally sweeps up doing the steak, and she doesn't even know what it is. I have also found generally in Thailand, instructions you give to the waiter, well you might as well tell the cat!

Many a house is lived in under this guise. Doing it for a condo is taken negatively because it is unnecessary, you can own a condo outright. These legal 'articles' are often sponsored by those selling condos!

Airbus and Boeing products running behind schedule
jacko replied to BigDUSA's topic in Idle Chit Chat
The comment was really about illegal subsidies. You have been very vocal on this subject in relation to Airbus here in the past. Care to comment on Boeing and them having their snouts in there too? -
Get it taken back quick...... I got my crappy one from then Carrefour!I haven't tried connecting mine to the PC, my problem was opposite, damn thing would shut itself off! I had good results at the service centre.

Reasonabley priced storage of luggage

If you return back to the same hotel from the trips I have often found the hotel more than willing to store a bag for you. -
Any bus service after 6pm from BKK airport to Pattaya?
jacko replied to Angelo02's topic in Transport in Thailand
Why?The airport is 12 km out of Bangkok and on the main Highway between Pattaya and Bangkok. It takes about 2 hours max to Pattaya at that time, you could go out for a few hours on arrival. -
Texans over-rate themselves. I have had some pretty crap steaks in Texas.Best I had ever, Kansas City Mo, but depends on the restaurant.
