Displayed prices are for multiple nights. Check the site for price per night. I see hostels starting at 200b/day and hotels from 500b/day on agoda.

Driver's Licensing - foreigner without a current license
jacko replied to Wannabe's topic in Transport in Thailand
OP states he does not. Most guys who do this actually do have a home licence, I should not imagine the driving test to be too difficult but some say there is a questions and answers session that can fox you... but they let you have another go. -
Welcome back.... the vultures will be circling.

Try Tropical Berts or The Queen Vic... see hotel reviews. Although they may break your 1000 baht limit a little. No pools though. Book ahead if you can. Plenty of action on Soi 6 but close enough to other centres of entertainment. (Walking St, Soi LK Metro etc) Places do not restrict you to their girls. What to pay...haha plenty of threads on that.

Kw are units of power, not energy. The cost is 7 baht/kwh. You said it works out at about which over a month would be equivalent to 150x30=4500baht at 7/kwh or about 640 kwh. That is a lot of energy for an apartment.

Unless the owner is Scottish... then flags become obligatory and all pervasive. You have a point, but bars seem to need to to have a pull and nationalism and spending time with like minded souls from your own country is a common theme. As is English Premier League. It is also decoration that costs little and is easily modified. I have recollections of a beer bar that transormed itself to the inside of a cave, like The Cavern Go-GO , it really cost a lot and didn't work out. Surely a nightmare to clean too. Any suggestions?

I think it is more common in a lot of scenarios.I have many many times, felt that the Thai customers get preferential treatment in restaurants. I even had a case where I remonstrated in Tesco after the assistant seemed to ignore me and serve two Thai ladies who walked up after me (weigh and price tagging). But perhaps there is another thread there.

The few times I have needed to obtain service by Sophon, it has always happened quite efficiently. Of course I get the TGF to call. I doubt they employ both technically and English language proficient people to answer their phones. You can normally manage with English if you go to the office. Are True better in that respect?

I hate to be negative but I do hope these RR engines get a better start than the ones on the A380.

What do you mean they have done away with the Pattaya News? After I retuned my TV last week I appear to have all the same channels I used to have. Why do you say poor service to English speaking customers? I appear to have about 16 or 17 English channels, there are only more Thai ones. Sophon costs 3000 baht/year, the satellite much more, and other than access to Prem League I have never seen anything else they offer of interest. Satellite companies also require multiple boxes for multiple TVs. Perhaps the slingbox arrangement with Sky (or wherever) would suit you better, you need a good internet connection, good luck with that!

And the second best sometimes, don't they also play some Fawlty Towers?

I haven't been on one yet. Always book the Biz Class (hey bigbadbaz I never realised Emirates offered a chauffeured car...thought that was just Etihad, is it just ex UK?). I always look for the cheapest of the better airlines which seems to always put me in Etihad or Qatar, Emirates is always 30,000 baht more.... (just too much). Ithink one day I will be on the A380, without planning or extra expense, for now if it gets me there and serves a glass of champers b4 take-off I really do not worry.

Isn't the bar just a double unit?

Well there is a bar for sale on the Forum.... both an opportunity and a lesson learned.

If she is an old girl friend I guess you must know her well. The place to start would be her birth village. Many go back 'home'..... and if not some relatives could help you further. But honestly, for all you know she could be living anyplace on earth.

This got posted since...LHR-Colombo-Male return for honeymoon. When we booked as a honeymoon couple we had hoped we would be sat together, this was not the case but was managed by check in staff at heathrow. The plane was old and very tiredd looking, seats were very uncomfortable and cramped. Inflight entertainment was either not working (games, TV, Movies etc) or working poorly. Cabin crew did the minimum to make the long journey feel comfortable and were unapproachable. Food okay OK on the journey out, on the return was poor. No beverages were offered to passengers other than with meals. Would not recommend to anyone!

Ask MM where he gets it for the same price as Heinekin.I buy SML for 35/bottle but by the case. That is a warehouse type beer shop, they are all over the place. Macro charges more so I stopped using them.

I guess you mean about 330ml.... so it is expensive.A difference of 1 baht in 130 isn't 30% though, .

UK Channel 4 Report on Thailand's Roads
jacko replied to CheshireTom's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Joe, I think your arguing over the numbers/stats detracts from the fact that Thailand does have an abysmal road deaths record.... probably going up as I type. The 3 who died did so because the bus driver drove dangerously...... -
Guesthouses/ Hotels full for New Years Eve?
jacko replied to m_holmes's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Darn, I just made a prick of myself. I phoned a few places and got a 'fully booked sir' response. So I thought, give Agoda a try...... A lot of high prices there for NYE... but there is a reasonable hotel at not too bad a price, and available. So I start the booking process. I am asked to confirm number of guests..... and I think, well you never know, I may just have company, better to keep the option than get hassled for joiner fee or suchlike...so I book for double occupancy. Then I stop looking closely.....big mistake. I confirm and everything and nearly fall out of my chair when I see the total being taken off my card. I have just paid an extra US$285 for Gala Dinner, compulsory, for 2 persons!!!!! So my 2011 ends badly, good riddance. I have paid a fortune for a Gala dinner I don't want to go to! It is too late to cancel and I am unable to moidify. By the way normally if you cancel within 7 days of the booking you lose 1 nights hotel charge , but the booking is only 1 night and it is too late to cancel anyhow. Getting old sucks!
