  5. I have posted my experiences elsewhere on the board... but to recap.Yes, I got a warm beer (SML), then a second warm beer (both returned). A cold one was found for me, but that was it, no more left for a second, so I went onto draft with ice cubes in it. Getting a supply of Leo draft is one thing, getting bottles into a fridge more than an hour or so before opening should not present a challenge.
  6. I think it is difficult to get staff to implement these types of things. The language barrier, stupidity, drunkensess all play a part. For me if draft beer has run out I doubt the place would be doing well, as I was unable to get a cold SML at 135 baht!

  8. I am confused where are this is coming from, suffice to say you are true to form.
  9. I have never laid a finger on her, noxious of you to suggest otherwise when you know little of me.I did not ask you to initialte your shit with me yesterday, but you did, as usual. Perhaps you are the one missing the Mrs. I posted where I saw required items in Pattaya. Other than that, go fuck yourself.
  10. Good, then why are the shelves in Pattaya not back to normal then clever-clogs?Are you denying that there are plenty Bangkok residents here on this holiday or just venting gas? Back to OP, Foodland on Klang, Tesco on Nua. Mind you I bought a chunk of them!

    Etihad

They were certainly at least second to Qatar when I went through there in September, has something better opened there since?Or is this superior terminal somehow a secret? I just followed the signs for transit passengers, crushed through a security check, funnelled through a duty free shopping area and then head for the Biz lounge (up the stairs or lift). There were hardly any seats and I had to go to the bar and ask for a beer. A far cry from the superior service of being taken to a dedicated large premium lounge building in Qatar.
  12. Small world.... they went on my list yesterday (I normally buy a dozen so need them infrequently). Yes in Pattaya some items are sporadic and it can be frustrating coming out of shops without items and wondering whether traipsing off to another place will bear fruit. I stumbled on tonics the other day (BigC X) after looking for a bit but couldn't find small containers of coconut milk. Perhaps the Bangkok shops are being restocked better despite many of their residents beinjg here!
  13. I think it was clear in the post I didn't. But I have edited slightly to make it clearer, thanks. Perhaps my fault, I didn't pursue it further after meeting with a language block..... Perhaps we need to post a card here, I will print it and take it with me next time..... hopefully with Thai on it!
  14. Yes, 1st April. Then the UKwill have the highest APD in the world.I think I will have to reduce my UK visits to 1/year. Prices are getting silly. I wouldn't blame the need for tax increases wholly at Osborne's door, it was expensive before he got there. The highest band/rate will go up from £170 to £184 You can avoid it by flying to Northern Ireland!

    Etihad

Good idea, although after paying £1700 I don't expect to supply my own IFE.I know being Arab does not automatically mean being a Muslim, but being from the Emirates does. My point was that on both Qatar and Etihad, when I have travelled during Ramadan, the service seemed inferior. What is available at the airport in AD is also different then. I tend to fly either Qatar or Etihad and base my choice on the cost of a Biz Class ticket, and I agree with you Etihad are a good airline. But I have had less than satisfactory service with them. I felt there was insufficient service staff out of Bangkok recently. The main meal took ages to arrive and no drinks were offered during the long wait. On the leg out of AD it was much better, but by then I was keen to sleep. A limo waiting at Manchester was fantastic.
  16. I went in last night. The hike to the end of WS might put some off, it isn't the distance, it is negotiating the crowds and touts, trying to pass around the street entertainer crowds. I see we have a white faced mime now, and 2000 seedy guys with printed and laminated cards offering direction to some table tennis tourny. So I get in there and quite a crowd, and am quickly attended to by a wait girl. 'Can I get 2 for one, I am a Pattaya Talk member' 'Vodka Tonic?' 'San Mig Light, yen yen' My bottle arrives, it isn't cold, isn't even cool, warm as the night air, surprised it came out of a fridge. At 135 baht I would like it cold. I send it back, the bar is nearby. It is squeezed and felt by 3 staff members who think I am delusional perhaps. I am offered an alternative, warm too. I am about to ask for a glass of ice when a perfect one is procured from the back of the fridge, thumbs up, get it in a condom as the top is being replaced on my rejected bottle, now, and let us take a look around. Some attractive girls, plenty of them, many stations for various levels of entertainment, seemingly more of an elder expat looking bunch, perhaps all PT BMs doing better than me! Comfy stools at the stage, but someone in need of a bath sits next to me, when he lights a cigarette I have olfactory overload and move to a bench seat. An attempt to buy another SML is declined, they know they don't have cold ones, so I join the crowd and have a glass of draft, and add a glass of ice cubes as is my preference. It is a reasonable sized glass and not too bad, I think it was 59 or 55 baht, cheap enough. I like the place, a big Babydolls and good attitude, I chat to a service girl, a dancer, and it appears anything goes in there, dining options available, at the Y. Three drinks, paid for 3, a cheap bill, plenty change from a 500, don't get that much on WS.

    Etihad

I am glad to hear that Etihad will improve the facilities at AD, they are in need of it.I do not see why the premium cabin IFE can not have capacity to store sufficient entertainment for what must be a regular passenger event, namely flying from Asia to Europe and back again within the same month. I have a memory stick nearby, capable of storing 16GB and it is no bigger than the tip of my thumb. Where is your data coming from that 99.9% of Etihad attendants are non Muslim? I think that is bullshit. Since over 20% of the world's population is Muslim, and Etihad originates from a 100% Muslin country, I would say you are wrong. On my flights alone. Arabic is always represented in the crew, so your 1 in a 1000 is unlikely. The Ramadan effect extends beyond on the plane, if you live in the UAE, you should know that. I certainly experienced it. I do not fly for pleasure, but for necessity,
  18. The problem of flying Biz from Manchester, is there is there was no chance of an upgrade. Now there is something to hope for.

    Etihad

I flew with them in Biz for 4 flights in September (2011). I found the seat a little cramped and the IFS on a couple of the legs not good. By the last leg I had seen all the films I wanted to see on their system. The lounge in Abu Dhabi is too small and sometimes you can't get a seat, compare it to the Qatar one which is large. Impressed by the free Limo though, but sadly couldn't use it on 3/4 legs (they don't go free to Pattaya). I also contend don't fly with them during Ramadan, service seems to deteriorate.
  23. Errrr.......Jack Lemmon.
  24. That is good feedback, although I do not use that particular broker.Another broker reported April had failed to pay out on 3 instances he had heard of. As stated tha admin is hopeless, hardly inspiring confidence, and when I sent payment (where I had to create a bank transfer in USD, I started with GBP, and it was going to France where Euros should be used), I got into a pissing match over some grasping bank taking another $30 piece of my money. I had paid charges already at my end. Glad they worked well for you, perhaps my broker is more at issue! I see above a post deriding AXA..... Bazle may just be right. I have spent many 100,000s baht on insurance and nevery yet needed it, nor tested it. Wonderful if you are wheeled to the impressive long row of ATMs every day at the BPH!
