  1. I hate to be negative but I do hope these RR engines get a better start than the ones on the A380.
  2. Futureworld.
  3. Easy Rider
  4. What do you mean they have done away with the Pattaya News? After I retuned my TV last week I appear to have all the same channels I used to have. Why do you say poor service to English speaking customers? I appear to have about 16 or 17 English channels, there are only more Thai ones. Sophon costs 3000 baht/year, the satellite much more, and other than access to Prem League I have never seen anything else they offer of interest. Satellite companies also require multiple boxes for multiple TVs. Perhaps the slingbox arrangement with Sky (or wherever) would suit you better, you need a good internet connection, good luck with that!
  5. The Departed.
  6. And the second best sometimes, don't they also play some Fawlty Towers?
  7. I haven't been on one yet. Always book the Biz Class (hey bigbadbaz I never realised Emirates offered a chauffeured car...thought that was just Etihad, is it just ex UK?). I always look for the cheapest of the better airlines which seems to always put me in Etihad or Qatar, Emirates is always 30,000 baht more.... (just too much). Ithink one day I will be on the A380, without planning or extra expense, for now if it gets me there and serves a glass of champers b4 take-off I really do not worry.
  8. Boogie Nights.
  9. Isn't the bar just a double unit?
  10. Matt Dillon
  11. Well there is a bar for sale on the Forum.... both an opportunity and a lesson learned.
  12. If she is an old girl friend I guess you must know her well. The place to start would be her birth village. Many go back 'home'..... and if not some relatives could help you further. But honestly, for all you know she could be living anyplace on earth.
  13. This got posted since...LHR-Colombo-Male return for honeymoon. When we booked as a honeymoon couple we had hoped we would be sat together, this was not the case but was managed by check in staff at heathrow. The plane was old and very tiredd looking, seats were very uncomfortable and cramped. Inflight entertainment was either not working (games, TV, Movies etc) or working poorly. Cabin crew did the minimum to make the long journey feel comfortable and were unapproachable. Food okay OK on the journey out, on the return was poor. No beverages were offered to passengers other than with meals. Would not recommend to anyone!
  14. Ask MM where he gets it for the same price as Heinekin.I buy SML for 35/bottle but by the case. That is a warehouse type beer shop, they are all over the place. Macro charges more so I stopped using them.
  15. I guess you mean about 330ml.... so it is expensive.A difference of 1 baht in 130 isn't 30% though, .
  16. Play Misty For Me
  17. Joe, I think your arguing over the numbers/stats detracts from the fact that Thailand does have an abysmal road deaths record.... probably going up as I type. The 3 who died did so because the bus driver drove dangerously......
  18. Darn, I just made a prick of myself. I phoned a few places and got a 'fully booked sir' response. So I thought, give Agoda a try...... A lot of high prices there for NYE... but there is a reasonable hotel at not too bad a price, and available. So I start the booking process. I am asked to confirm number of guests..... and I think, well you never know, I may just have company, better to keep the option than get hassled for joiner fee or suchlike...so I book for double occupancy. Then I stop looking closely.....big mistake. I confirm and everything and nearly fall out of my chair when I see the total being taken off my card. I have just paid an extra US$285 for Gala Dinner, compulsory, for 2 persons!!!!! So my 2011 ends badly, good riddance. I have paid a fortune for a Gala dinner I don't want to go to! It is too late to cancel and I am unable to moidify. By the way normally if you cancel within 7 days of the booking you lose 1 nights hotel charge , but the booking is only 1 night and it is too late to cancel anyhow. Getting old sucks!
  19. I think Bangkok isn't a factor, a lot of people head out for NYE. There is a lot of live music on in Pattaya this year which brings a lot of Thais into town. Then there is the compulsory 'Gala Dinner' a lot of places force upon you!
  20. Well airfares to the far East were beyond most people over 20 years ago perhaps. The UK went through a spell of property inflation and general improvements in personal wealth..... or was it access to debt. Hard to imagine that airfares have got cheaper of late unless one applies accountancy tricks or the confusing caveat 'in real terms' Taxes have gone from low levels to £300. Weren't oil prices around $20/barrel if one ignores the 1991 spike? Currently $95.
  21. I was up that way yesterday and getting to and from Jomtiem is much improved since the completion of the dual carriageway. Of course it can be pretty slow from Pattaya to/from the flyover but Jomtiem is becoming more attractive, and there sure are some large developments there now. (Amazon, over 700 units!)
  22. Me too..... a friend previously offered me a condo...now he says it isn't available!!!!! I need a room tomorrow........ I just spoke to another friend who arrived today and he seems to think there are plenty of places...... Last year I got a room at 1pm, but by 3 the large (and not great) hotel was full. I wish they had the "NO" "VACANCY" lights that you see in Blackpool!
  23. Probably a single incomer and many splitters without a booster.I don't think they mind in a private residence if you split it for a couple of rooms, but an apartment block is another matter. You could ask sophon to give you an independent feed and pay them direct.
  24. Today in the Mall (BigCX)...... Pattaya is really becoming uncivilised!
  25. No it is still there... listed on my TV as S33 at 399MHz
