Well when I asked the eaten card question I specifically meant a foreign card, so I could wait 3 weeks too. Seriously I have 2 cards that could present problems. One doesn't have my name on it at all, another, they have mis-spelt it.... and I never have my passport with me.

Yes, I have worked in many places on a tourist stamp over the years, Thailand too.

I have often wondered... to get an ATM card back from a hungry machine, by chatting to the lovely ladies inside, are you required to prove identity or anything? I actually have an ATM card where my name is not on the card... it works, I just keep using it.

Copying 'programs' is a bit awkward.... there are complications to removing it and re-installing it unless the program came with a disk or utility already.Extra space can be achieved by removing photos, (copying to a disk or external drive) for example, stuff normally found under 'Users/Username' Personal music is another possibility. Also try a disk cleanup (Computer, Right-click on C Drive, Properties, Disc Cleanup ....)

Me too....and less chance of rogue gadgetry and cameras too. I have taken to using my left hand for cover as I tap out my pin.

Actually I haven't renewed my 5 year yet...... due this year sometime methinks. When I renewed my 1 year (to a 5 year) I don't recall doing anything!

Not sure you need the medical certificate... I hear of people renewing without it.This is the list off the Expats Club Site, I suppose it is best to have everything. Documents needed for renewal of Thai driving license: 1. Passport + 1 signed copy of each - (a) 'face' page, ( non-immigration visa page, © current TM6 card & latest entry stamp page. 2. Photos are no longer required as they use digital photo images engraved on a hard 'credit-card' style permit. Ladies - please note that you must have your shoulders covered for official photos. 3. Letter of 'Fit-to-drive' from Doctor - 200 baht (must be less than 30 days old). 4. 1 residence certificate from Pattaya Immigration (dated within 30 days of renewal). 5. Money 665 (500+55) baht for car - 365 baht for motor-cycle. 6. Your old Thai driving license(s). (A 'TM6 card' refers to the Immigration Departure card attached to your passport during your stay in Thailand. It has a reference number (TM6) that tells where & when you entered Thailand) (The letter of 'Fit-to-drive' from a Doctor is again required) I transferred my residence stuff from an old passport into a new one recently... had all these copies and the form all filled in... they didn't want any of that crap. Just took the 2 passports and told me to come back tomorrow after 10, all done and free..... just too easy sometimes!

Expats should have a local account and transfer money into it. A way to avoid the 150 baht charge. Then there is never a problem getting 20k... and I believe one can and I have got 25k. If I use my foreign ATM card, 15k is my limit, but I only use the Aeon machines, to avoid the 150 baht charge.

Dr Belem, just up from the Bangkok bank. Head down second, turn right at the bank (just before soi 6/1)... about 50m on the right. Last one I did was 100 baht. The place to get the licence is on Rt 36. Down Sukhumvit to the 36 junction, right turn towards Rayong. Up there just before the Regents school and the motorway junction (Rt 7), on right side. If you are driving take the first U-Turn after the school, come back, pass the school then it is first left.

I saw a Thai cook lady have her diaper wearing kid sitting on her preparation counter...... made me go elsewhere. -
It's a thought.... I doubt my insurance is valid for someone without a full licence.

My worst was seeing a member of the kitchen staff emerge carrying a rat they had just killed in the kitchen.... he didn't wash his hands before going back in there either....NOT THAILAND! -
I seem to recall excellent bottles of scotch in duty free at Duba being super cheap, perhaps longer than 20 years ago. They once had to come and get me out of the bar to get me on the plane some 30 years back too.... KLM I think, Melbourne via Columbo...again in Columbo. But it is nice to have an opportunity to buy a beer in Dubai, at whatever price, than to be refused by BA on the direct flight....because you have had two already!
-
Yes, I just did a price check myself on a flight originating from BKK. Singapore soon got tossed, Etihad cheapest.

Right, now we need someone to vouch for you......not Paul!

Well as an afterthought perhaps a mask and gloves will deter the other great Thai passtime of picking ones nose. -

I prefer that they keep their head covered, I prefer that they are clean shaven. Masks and gloves seems to be OTT. (Do they change/wash the gloves, or ensure a mask is put back on the correct way around?) -
How's the spare look!

I would be very surprised that Mochit did not have coach services to Buriram. Possibly you get off the Ubon bus. There is a train service too which could be a slower but reasonable alternative, easily boarded at Don Muang.

Some of the beach areas are a fair way from Naklua Rd.Can you get a regular baht bus from say central Wong Amat beach. I always feel it is a bad start to a holiday when you are stuck in the middle of nowhere, forced to pay songtaews a lot to get back and forth. I shudder when I see one packed to the gills heading down Sukhumvit from Ambassador City, carrying more than a Bangkok Skytrain at 08.30.
