  1. I believe I was in a training course in the USA when that happened... (the explosion), and someone came into the lab and announced it. Most of the guys were Americans and were quite shocked. That was in Pittsburgh PA, when Americans owned American companies (Westinghouse). Later the HQ went to Orlando FL and having a Spaceshuttle fly over with the accompanying double sonic boom was quite commonplace.
  2. Does that include say Fascinos? I always thought they were above board.
  3. And all that nitpicking and semantics has no relevance to the OP getting stuck in traffic due to revellers who think that they are enjoying songkran water throwing festivities, despite having being told not so by you!
  4. That would be minus six on the Jude Law comment.... (knocking one's own head) The Diary of Anne Frank.
  5. I don't believe Jude law was in the 1966 Alfie, he would have been minus 6 years old????? Alfie (1966)
  6. Well it could be posted in another section I suppose, but I see some fun in this!!
  7. The nearest bank used to be TMB on Phratumnak Rd, opposite Soi VC, and a Bangkok Bank around there. (TMB is Kasikoen now I think), but new banks are popping up all over the place. ATMs are also found outside convenience stores.English pretty widely spoken, particularly Bank staff. Banks will exchange money, in fact the exchange kiosks are often at the front of a bank branch. You can cut through Soi 16 to get to FLB, or go via the next one (forget name), or even Soi Diamond, no need to go as far as Soi 15. I doubt it is 2 km, maybe a little over one. Use this....
  8. I don't regard a simple arguments aside as much of a 'tude. As for our Michael Caine.... Alfie (old one of course)
  9. No it doesn't. Naklua will have it's 'wan lai' festival day on the 18th. I normally avoid the area but I recall the TGF got stuck in traffic that very day last year. Likely just North Rd choked but that would impact the rest of town. I might be tempted to have a night or two in Bangkok.
  10. You couldn't if you tried!
  11. Well perhaps over 57, not necessarily so old, but a better memory than mine.
  12. Arguments aside.....The Eagle Has Landed....
  13. The Eagle Has Landed.

  15. You Only Live Twice.
  16. Perhaps to take us to pastures new.......Gordon Jackson
  17. Sir Richard Attenborough
  18. The Master of Disguise.
  19. Waynes World
  20. So I Married an Axe Murderer
  21. My Left Foot.
  22. Twenty degC this AM and still a little overcast. But brighter than yesterday. I put a jacket on when I went out on the motorbike yesterday, I think the first time ever in LOS! Had dinner indoors last night....... The forecast has it warming up tomorrow, but personally I am enjoying this refreshing spell in late March.
  23. When an old bugger like me remembers it as The Merlin, it is hard to take the place seriously. There are plenty of cheaper good options that don't carry branding around town. If you thought it expensive you obviously felt you got less than you paid for. What you mostly paid for was the newer name.
  24. The Last September
