  2. Mostly TV stuff...Rhoda and MTM show....I needed the 24 hour rule to come up with... Blame It On Rio
  3. Sounds like they are taking care of themselved these City Hall guys..... they are also the owner of the only multi-storey car park not associated with a Mall.
  4. Little Villa is big enough to climb out of his playpen now!
  5. Well, you will get to experience advanced years I suppose, the alternative isn't so great!
  6. Something different to read about. I have decided against a dog, it is like having a child, they take looking after and restrict your ability to go away for trips. I was also put off at my old house where noisy dogs meant I rarely got a full nights sleep, and even a sundowner beer was disturbed by yelping from some soppy ball of fluff. I also saw a few dogs that were walked (well they have to shit someplace, not infront of their house but infront oif mine works for them).. that I knew would not last long. Western breeds are often totally unsuited to a Thai climate. There goes my neighbours mutt now, 6am and probably spotted one of the dozens of feral mangy soi dogs that wander uncontrolled. Nice to read of someone who will take good care of their animal.
  7. I am guessing only Premiership footballers would go.....
  8. Rode down Pattaya Tai yesterday and there was quite a tailback caused by the usual baht busses parked narrowing the road to one lane and one of those crossings... and traffic was stopping at the red light.... A little further down, another one was being completely ignored....they do seem to have put a lot of these things in... there must have been a great kickback into someone's pocket!

  12. Well the reality is it might not be the same service... Also I pay more than 20% up to go to the airport as my place is hard to find and I want someone who knows where it is. Anyhow dontcha, aren't you a Bell bus type of guy!
  13. First option is the one I normally use.... shorter and I don't like the Bangkok traffic. You have to go over the hills after Kabinburi, not a rainy weather scenario and the police are there to give you a ticket for passing a truck doing 3kph up the hill.. You could also cut the 36/Sukhumvit corner by going down soi siam country club, around the lake and over 36 on 3240 to 331.
  14. I bet it depends on who you talk to and what day of the week it is.Interesting about the jet-ski, as a lawyer was citing this at the Expats club recently. A farang was being squeezed for 'compensation' to a jetski his child rented and crashed into a boat, and compensation for the boat damage too. The lawyer claimed there was no liability on the childs part as he was too young to operate the jet ski, and the owner was liable for illegally letting the kid use it. .
  15. As opposed to unofficially dead?
  16. Originally you were discussing someone buying a condo...... Yes, likely someone selling one, that he bought at 75 baht/£, could come out better off now selling it at 48 baht/£... presuming he can externalise the money...and wants to, as he lives in the UK (PS he might be liable to capital gains tax then!) . Even in the quoted response you claim his condo has gone from a value of 3 mill to 4 million, but then say prices are down 30% . I agree prices are down in the market... could be a good time to buy... for an Australian. I agree the baht has appreciated about 31% in £ terms in the last 5 years..(70 to 48) The reality is those 5 million baht condos that used to be around 3-4 years ago look pretty damned expensive these days.. even to the guy who bought one

  18. Well we used to make jet engines.......
  19. You need to explain this better.... I am unable to grasp what the exchange rate £/baht has got to do with the price of a Pattaya condo (which are always priced in baht). Suredly condos now appear more expensive to British people! The condos are not purely built for a British market...... agreed that the baht's strength will likely have slowed the market down and sellers are reducing baht prices to move them.... But someone whose worth is based in £ sterling will find them more expensive now.....or do you believe prices in baht terms have fallen over 30% ie more than the £/baht fall?
  20. No probs.... I am definitely not a morning person.UTP offers little in terms of available flights. Fine if you must go Bangkok Airways to Samui or Phuket. Since the new bypass from the end of the motorway to Sukhumvit opened it is very easy to use the main airport. There are plans to expand UTP and I believe a flight to Laos will operate soon, but there are also plans to expand Swampy further. My point to the OP is that you do not have to traverse Bangkok to get to the airport from Pattaya...... it is superbly catered for by the motorway (Rt7) on one side, and Rt 3 on the other side.

  22. Hmmm, if they get to him you are correct.
  23. Well they moved the main Bangkok airport late 2006...you didn't know that? What a crock, some-times of day it would take you 40 minutes to get from Walking street to Sukhumvit! And look up the word Klang if you are unsure where central Pattaya is. From Sukhumvit to swampy airport...0 traffic lights, three lane motorway and a bypass. Two hours would be a slow journey. U-Tapao you have to go through Jomtiem, Na Jomtiem and Sattahip, 40 minutes, if you find the place, would not be much less. The guy specifically asked not to go via Manila so I am unsure why you are picking an argument with me.
