  1. Time to shop for summer...
  2. Nice, thank you!
  3. The Merlin charged you a joiner fee? I missed that, thought you were referring to the Hard Rock. Merlin never charged any of us a joiner fee (perhaps part of the Navy package). One time when I showed up last moment and the Merlin was booked solid I stayed at the place just south, Montien perhaps? They hit me with a joiner fee. First I had heard of the term/concept. Was quite incensed. Fortunately was able to wiggle into the Merlin withing 2-3 days
  4. The Merlin was my first hotel when I began visiting Pattaya in late 96. Stayed many times till they closed to become Hard Rock. Was a nice place. Decent pool area. Affordable, I got the US Navy rate which was just over $20 including an awesome breakfast, all you can eat if memory serves me correctly. They would usually give me an upper floor on the water side, nice views. Awesome security staff who took pretty good care of us. Almost got the pooh beat out of me by a Russian mobster once because in a drunken stupor I became infatuated with his incredibly beautiful Russian girlfriend at the pool. Really missed it when they closed...believe I switched to the Flipper House around then for 2-3 years.....which of course brings back memories of the wild and crazy days of Soi 8. The typical walk from the Flipper to 2nd was one of the loudest, most exhilarating strolls I have ever been on. An ongoing kaleidoscope of random debauched imagery that boggled ones mind....
  5. After a long illness, a woman died and arrived at the Gates of Heaven. While she was waiting for Saint Peter to greet her, she peeked through the Gates. She saw a beautiful banquet table. Sitting all around were her parents and all the other people she had loved and who had died before her. They saw her and began calling greetings to her - "Hello" "How are you! We've been waiting for you!" "Good to see you". When Saint Peter came by, the woman said to him "This is such a wonderful place! How do I get in?" "You have to spell a word", Saint Peter told her. "Which word?" the woman asked. "Love." The woman correctly spelled "Love" and Saint Peter welcomed her into Heaven. About six months later, Saint Peter came to the woman and asked her to watch the Gates of Heaven for him that day. While the woman was guarding the Gates of Heaven, her husband arrived. "I'm surprised to see you", the woman said. "How have you been?" "Oh, I've been doing pretty well since you died," her husband told her. "I married the beautiful young nurse who took care of you while you were ill. And then I won the lottery. I sold the little house you and I lived in and bought a big mansion. And my wife and I traveled all around the world. We were on vacation and I went water skiing today. I fell, the ski hit my head, and here I am. How do I get in?" "You have to spell a word", the woman told him. "Which word?", her husband asked. "Czechoslovakia."
  6. A New York attorney representing a wealthy art collector called his client and said to him, "Saul, I have some good news and I have some bad news." The art collector replied, "I've had an awful day; let's hear the good news first." The attorney said, "Well, I met with your wife today, and she informed me that she invested $5,000 in two pictures that she thinks will bring a minimum of $15-20 million. I think she could be right." Saul replied enthusiastically, "Well done! My wife is a brilliant businesswoman! You've just made my day. Now I know I can handle the bad news. What is it?" The attorney replied, "The pictures are of you with your secretary."

  12. ??? ???? ???? ????????? ????? | How songwriting spouses Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann joined with Phil Spector and the Righteous Brothers to create one of the most-played songs in history, “You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'.” | Fifty-eight years ago this summer, songwriting spouses Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann wrote "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" with Phil Spector. Today, the song is No. 1 on BMI's list of most-played songs on radio and TV since the royalty-collection agency's founding in 1939. (Ascap, the other major royalty organization, doesn't track such data.) | …. “Mr. Mann: One night in early '65, our phone rang at 3 a.m. Ms. Weil: It was Brian Wilson calling from L.A. He said, “Your song is the greatest record ever. I was ready to quit the music business, but this has inspired me to write again. I want to write with you guys.” Half asleep, all I could say was, “Now?”
