Road Rage and Its Aftermath
midlifecrisis replied to Evil Penevil's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
In Manila, over near the US embassy, waiting to cross at the light, a cooter stopped on the almost red light and was rear ended by a car behind. Not major. The guy on the scooter looked back at the guy in the car very briefly, just a clance, without any attitude. More about surprised. Turned around and waited for the light to turn green. In california the two would have been discussing it in the street, blocking traffic. Perhaps angrily. Jack Nicholson with a golf club. -

Yes the same with the NHL. Even golf has many international stars here. The other thing is that I don't think many here really care that the men are out of the World Cup. The women's team is very well known and respected. Top players get endorsement contracts. I don't see the American men getting any. However, Beckham is well known. I suppose being married to a Spice Girl helps with that too. A famous couple. I think the US men's team is in for hard times for years to come. I think Robby Mustoe is correct in his analysis. Bruce Arena has resignes as coach but what about president S

So much truth in that Roy.

Thanks wac! I always appreciate your knowledgable insights on this.

Robby Mustoe was taalking about how 11 of the members of the US men's team were over 30 and how the 23 and younger team has not qualified for the last two Olympics. The USA is an old team with no youth movement. US athletes have too many choices. The majority of the very best athletes end up in the big money sports. In much of the world the best players end up in soccer. Even in Carribean countries, the choice is basically down to two sports, soccer and baseball. The USA has so many sports and leagues that it dilutes the talent pool. So, what next? How do we encourage the youth to play

Very true. My boss was younger than me and was a workaholic. Although I had contemplated early retirement, his illness and death from cancer did a got me to make up my mind for me and actually retire.

Watford beating Arsenal was the big surprise for me. I thought Wenger would be sacked after last season. What are the tabloids writing today?

I was watching some program about Germany years ago and this German guy was a real workaholic. He said about the difference between the Germans and the French, "The Germans live to work, the French work to live." Despite being Prussian on my mother's side, I prefer the French manner.

In the first 60 minutes it looks like ManU would be content with one point. However, they have played conservatively before only to come on at the end.

Best time of year to go to Pattaya?
midlifecrisis replied to Tucker_69er's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Sometimes are hotter than others. Sometimes are wetter than others but it is always great. Sometimes are it is more expensive for hotels as it is the busiest time. November and December and most of January has pretty nice weather. Less rain and the winds come from the north so very comfortable. I have been when it is really hot and humid. You just feel wet all of the time. You don't stop having fun and so many places have aircon. -
What I did before retirement was to stack as much vacation time as I could until I hit the max allowed by the company. I strategically used what would be lost with partial days off. That was over 350 hours they had to pay me when I quit. No layoff in my group or for me. They did not give us a payout for unused sick leave, which I rarely used in all of those years. That would have been a small fortune. If I could I worked holidays at double time. Banked as much as I could. You seem to have a solid plan.

crazy motherfuckers -
What's this topic about? Ageing? Is there a topic for second childhood?
-
Great joke. Didn't see it coming.
-
Not yet but you are now scaring me.
-
Surprising with so many teams in London that there are so many fans for the other two teams.

lol, I just posted on another topic and the spell check function wasn't working. Thank God for online dictionaries. I think the biggest frustration with aging for me is spelling, not aches and pains. I was a pretty good speller in my youth and now I am a terrible speller. I read this is quite common. It does not manifest in other areas. My memory is fine in all othe ways. Just spelling. Is there a pill for this?
-
Spelling is becoming a growing problem as I age. Live with it. I do. Thank God for spell checkers.
