  1. The truth set you free?
  2. You left out the most important part: researchers have found no definitive evidence of a link between MSG and these symptoms If there is one problem with it, it is sodium. Sodium is everywhere in our diets. Too much sodium can contribute to high blood pressure. There are so many chemicals in our environment that I doubt MSG would be anywhere near the top of the list of concerns.
  3. "MSG has been used as a food additive for decades. Over the years, the FDA has received many anecdotal reports of adverse reactions to foods containing MSG. These reactions — known as MSG symptom complex — include: Headache Flushing Sweating Facial pressure or tightness Numbness, tingling or burning in the face, neck and other areas Rapid, fluttering heartbeats (heart palpitations) Chest pain Nausea Weakness However, researchers have found no definitive evidence of a link between MSG and these symptoms. Researchers acknowledge, though, that a small percentage of people may have short-term reactions to MSG. Symptoms are usually mild and don't require treatment. The only way to prevent a reaction is to avoid foods containing MSG." http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/expert-answers/monosodium-glutamate/faq-20058196 My supermarket used to carry two brands of Polish sausage. One had MSG and the other did not. They stopped selling the one without MSG. I miss it, not because it had no MSG but it actually tasted better than the brand that has MSG. I occasionally get a hankering for Polish sausages and eat the brand with MSG and suffer none of the symptoms attributed to it anecdotally. As to our FDA. They banned cyclamates for being carcinogenic and allowed saccharine. I think that is reversed in Canada. With all of the things we allow in our food here, from dyes to emulsifiers to...the list is endless...I have to agree that our obsession with MSG is over the top.
  4. If anything is going to happen I should think it will be fairly soon.
  5. Sling Blade
  6. They moved from Soi Buakhao did they not? Not sure where they moved to. nm: moved to Jomtien
  7. So far you are 100%
  8. very nicely done.
  9. Sad to hear that but a sign of the times.
  10. harrrrrrrrrrrr
  11. lol, looking at the map it appears I need to scuba dive to get to it.
  12. Does North Korea plan that far in advance?
  13. Not yet but will. Old Ted went to Stanford which was near to where I grew up.
  14. I think you nailed it.
  15. That happened in 1983 and had to do with the former Soviet Union. We are discussing a hot war involving the Korean peninsula. KAL 007 is akin to Egypt Air flight 804, a couple of Malaysian Air flights or Germanwings flight 9525.
  16. I can stick to Chang or as the ladies in the bar say, Beer Chang. I actually prefer it to Heinekens. I am a bit particular (a fucking snob) at home but as long as it isn't wheat beer, I can drink most, ales and lagers, stouts, porters, German lagers, British ales.... It can all be good. I even had a good Filipino beer in the PI that I loved. I prefer hoppie to sweet (malty) and my German heritage demands barley malt, hops, water and yeast (reinheitsgebot 1516 - German Purity Law adopted in Bavaria). As I said a snob. Does not matter to me top or bottom fermentation though. When I travel I discard expectations except in Germany.
  17. Here's proof that you can take something as childish as a nursery rhyme and turn it into a great song: The late Stevie Ray Vaughn
  18. Another of my favorite guitarists is Mark Knopfler. Although he has done some good solo work (and some work I am not particularly a fan of) I think his best work was with Dire Straits. One of my favorites: Rockabilly
  19. There's a wine store on Second Road. Do you have a corkage fee? Just kidding. As to beer, there are fairly mainstream beers in the States that do cost a bit but are found in most supermarkets. My favorite is Torpedo Extra IPA Ale By Sierra Nevada Brewing. Not Cheap. A 24 oz bottle costs about $4.00 here and a six pack of 12 oz bottles goes for about $8.00 on sale. It is 7.2% alcohol. Not cheap even here and they produce a lot of bottles. A great beer. Very hoppy. I am not a fan of most IPAs but this one is special. Would love to find it there.
  20. I knew my joke was a groaner but really!
  21. Many won't get it. Americans should. What do you do with an elephant with three balls? Walk him and pitch to the rhino. I won't give up my day job only because I already did!
  22. Another band I should have mentioned was The Moody Blues, especially some of their intros. Full songs as well. This first song is Question. Great song. T The intro to Peak Hour, Lunch Break, is reminiscent of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Peak Hour follows with one of the best lead guitar solos in rock history, imho. My nipples get hard to that solo. As short as it is, it gives me chills still. edit: Just found this. The first song is a live version of Peak Hour.
  23. Tell it to the magistrate!
  24. The silent ones are the deadly ones. "A passenger on an airliner was arrested today after landing. He was booked on terrorism charges for releasing deadly gas on his flight. The arrested individual claimed it was farts caused by drinking champagne. He is being held without bond pending arraignment."
