  1. Yes, it happens in Chrome for me if I access from a google search. I use Avast for my antivirus and not sure if it is involved. I don't think it is though, as with Avast I get loud bell sounds, if it thinks there is a problem. With Chrome I have no addon toolbar.
  2. I have had that warning on Chrome and I try it again and I do not get the warning.
  3. Yes, Segal was great in that role. The movie was pretty fair to the book.
  4. King Rat was the best Clavell novel imho.
  5. I would hate to be standing there during a storm.
  6. A very pretty stretch of coastline. Thanks. I used the google earth and wow that is way down the road.
  7. I wish also wish to laude firth1974 for his wonderful reports but he should not be allowed to return to Pattaya until he has at least done photo trip reports of every SE asian nation and tourist destination!
  8. I was surfing transport options to and from BKK to Pattaya and came upon this website. The first photo at the top. Where is that? http://www.bangkok.com/pattaya/gettingthere.htm#promo
  9. I love Sumatran beans. I drink that coffee at home. African coffee beans are good too. Kona isn't too bad either.
  10. Is this a road widening project? Does the traffic situation justify the work? Or is this just a make work project? The Thai unemployment rate is under 1 percent. http://www.tradingeconomics.com/thailand/unemployment-rate
  11. I agree about punishing Brady but the draft choice and monetary punishment to the team and its ownership is excessive.
  12. Those who think Americans are pushy and inconsiderate should fly asian airlines cattle class.
  13. I don't disagree that these mandated regulations save lives. Why do people climb mountains, or base jump off of them? Why do people skydive? The threat of danger is very liberating and exhilarating. Our society gets safer and safer and we continue to try to remove all potential risk to our lives. I was on a motorbike taxi who jumped into Second Road traffic from a side soi. First, we don't have motorbike taxis here, they are too dangerous. Second, surviving the moment was exhilarating.
  14. Good catch. They had others on the site that are similar but I don't see them today. We all know the score. The bottom line for me is that there is more risk to life in Thailand and the government doesn't feel the need to fforce to people to do things for "their own good" as much as in the sterilized USA. As a kid one could ride in the back of a pickup truck here. There were no seatbelts in cars and motorcycle riders almost never were seen wearing helmets. Now the former is illegal, and the other two are mandatory and subject to tickets and fines for not doing so. I understand that it
  15. I got a similar screen when I was investigating a ticket solely on the Thai Air website.
  16. I saw some photos on the Cherry Book Facebook page that remind of why I love going to Thailand. It is just so wonderfully different than our way of life. These are not my photos and there was no credit given on the Cherry Bar Facebook page.
  17. I started looking to book a flight yesterday and I found no airlines from the US west coast that had a BKK landing during daylight hours. I used to fly EVA because of that. It appears to have changed. Thai Air was the only other I know of that landed in daylight hours from LAX, SFO or Seattle.
  18. oh yah! That is just part of the charm! But you need to be careful there, for sure. I will walk a little farther as my dashing days are rapidly diminishing. I think my days of sprinting across Second Road are over too. I might need a motorbike taxi to cross three lanes of traffic. I will see it in just over 5 months!
  19. yes, where you go off the wide walk and around the corner of the building before you get on the small sidewalk just before WS. That is still the case, is it not? Or did they take a chunk out of the building there? Are we on the same page? Thanks for the added info btw.
  20. There is nothing that can be done about the bottleneck at South Pattaya and Beach Road short of destroying a whole bunch of buildings. Coming from our overly practical system here, it is refreshing to go to Thailand. I can understand why expats there might not agree with me but it is rather liberating from my perspective. I can't wait to go through the drainage mess when I come back in January. At least I won't be the one driving.
