  1. Sounds nice! How many square meters? And do they have balconies? Little Roy
  2. Geof: Had another look and find the web site has a lot of info. Rooms start at 550 Baht, but no mention of seasonal rate. Possibly the web site hasn't been up- dated in awhile. Send them an e-mail, or submit a reservation request. And have a thorough look at the web site. Yes, there is a pool. No mention of breakfast, though it is normal to have the usual buffet. They advertise being near Walking Street, so I suspect they are guest friendly. You can ask. Little Roy
  3. Geof: I had a look at the web site. Definitly NOT the ST hotel that is just off of Walking Street. Good web site. On Soi Yensabai, so location not bad. I didn't check on room rates. It's high season now, so it probably won't be inexpensive. I haven't kept up with hotel rates as I have a condo in North Pattaya so don't sweat room reservations any more. I hope someone else responds that has had personal experience with this place. Little Roy
  4. The Empress is a very nice hotel, but a bit of a hike to the Night Market. I have stayed there twice. I recomment the Porn Ping Hotel have stayed there twice also and enjoyed it very much. And it is right next to the market. Just go out the front door, turn left and walk through the parking lot.....and you are there. Little Roy
  5. Do you have an address for that hotel? I know of the Marine Plaza Hotel, which is a ST hotel back in and among the bars. 250 B for 3 hours. I hope you are asking about a different hotel. You have asked about the Marine Plaza INN Hotel...so maybe not the same place. Again, what address do you have? Little Roy
  6. Look at the top of this page. Click onto where it says "Hotels." Easy. Little Roy
  7. I don't really care if they are copies. The price is right. Just like the Nike copies. Some are real Nikes as many are made in Thailand and are simply over-runs. Please don't be so hung up on brand names. You are paying for the logo. If a manufacturer wants me to advertise their brand they can pay me! Little Roy
  8. It's music? So whistle or hum a few bars for me. Sheesh! Little Roy
  9. I had a vasectomy 31 years ago. No horror stories. No pain. You have to wait awhile before you start shooting blanks. Best thing I ever did. I forgot that you can make babies with that thing. For me, it's just for fun! Have gotten rid of a few clingy TG's who wanted to have a baby with me when I explained I can't make a baby but can have fun. I realized they wanted to have a baby so they could get their hooks into me long term. It's part of the game, guys. I have two daughters who are older than the gals I have bonked here. Some gals are even younger than my grandsons! Ain't life grand? Little Roy
  10. Trvlr: Your dental insurance may be better than mine...but, I paid about $500 co-pay a few years ago. And I don't have an HMO. Have heard too many horror stories about the overall quality of care as well as the avoidance of care. Also, the work I had done here included root canal. Maybe that is always done. All work was completed in less than two weeks. My first trip to PIH was a bit over 10 years ago when a Thai lady driving a BMW sidewiped me while on a motorbike on second road. Had injury to head and elbow. LOTS of stitches. The treatment was outstanding! Have been to them since for bronchitis, abrasions, and even NSU. Highly recommend the place. My lady was hospitalized for pneumonia this year. Again, the treatment was professional, kind, and effective. Little Roy
  11. Final cost for my crown and stuff at Pattaya International Hospital was 12,380 B. In dollars thats around 300. Great work. You cannot tell it is a crown. Will definitely go back for any further work. Little Roy
  12. I'm having a crown made at Pattaya International. I broke a tooth last week. Am seeing Dr. Sornam Buddhachart. Will finish up tomorrow when I get the permanent crown. Will be a total of 4 visits. Had a root canal which is usual when having a crown. Am anticipating a final cost of about 15000 B. That's about half of the co-pay if I were to use my dental insurance at home. Excellant service. No pain.....oh yeah! Little Roy
  13. Thanks aj. Very comforting info. I am hoping the family will like it. I took my lady to the restaurant one night about three years ago. Used the glass elevator. For those who haven't been there, when you enter it you are surrounded by cement, but when you get up about three floors you suddenly find yourself in the open. Freaked my lady out. Up to that point I didn't know she was afraid of being up high. Had a nice meal, but she wouldn't sit near the windows. And we returned to the lobby on one of the interior elevators. Even then she had chill bumps. Since then we have flown to Chiang Mai twice, Udon Thani once, and the U.S. once. Handles things better now, though on the first flight of her life, which was to Chiang Mai, she was so nervous she put salt in her coffee. Got a bit off subject there, didn't I? Anyway, thanks again! Little Roy
  14. Thanks for the replies! Soi 7's comments make me feel better....but..Ting Tong's friends experience regarding the overbooking is bothersome. Will walk in and confirm the internet booking I made. The family will arrive at the hotel at maybe 2:30 AM one morning. Sure as hell don't need some night clerk playing dumb! Thanks again. Little Roy
  15. The last review of the Markland is two years old. Anyone stay there recently? Have booked my daughter, her husband, and my 11 year old grandson in there for 8 days in Jan. Hope I haven't made a mistake. I stayed there when it first opened in about '95 or 6. It was very good at that time. Advice? Little Roy
  16. Rain showers...no steady rain as in the areas affected by the monsoons...which miss Pattaya. Besides.....it's only water! Little Roy
  17. Emil...good point! Walked by there last night. There are two bars on the Soi 4 side with pool tables. Must have been an opening as the place was packed. Some noise, but not too bad. Really couldn't hear it down Soi 4 a ways. The bars fronting Second Rd. shouldn't be a problem noise-wise. I'll check out the Soi 5 place, but the noise from the Northshore Condo. project is still sometimes outrageous. By January maybe it will be gone, but I doubt it as there is still a lot of work to be done there. Little Roy
  18. I tried for a reservation for a small suite for the 2nd and 3rd weeks in Jan. for my daughter, her husband, and my 11 year old grandson. Received notice today that they are fully booked. Will try a walk-in to see if anything has been held back. The good places are getting booked up, guys! Little Roy
  19. November 16 is the full moon. For the past two years the Beach Rd. walk was so fucked up it really took a lot away from the enjoyment of the festival. In past years vendors would set up all along the walkway selling krahtongs, food, and whatever. And many ladies in full costume to be enjoyed and photographed. Unless there is a miracle on Beach Rd. and the holes are filled in in time for the festival this year, I would be tempted to go somewhere else to enjoy the holiday. Little Roy
  20. Piero, you mentioned the Thai Palace on Soi 4. Nope, not on Soi 4. You have me curious now. Just where is it? The advice to just take a walk and have a look is good advice. Little Roy
  21. The time it will take is varied depending on the night of the week and the time of year. Sat or Sun nights will take a bit longer. In high season there is more traffic. And if it rains you could have a BIG problem. I always allow extra time "just in case." And if you are going to the airport from Pattaya, you should also build in extra time. Only once have I had a problem, but leaving early allowed me to get there in time. I don't mind an extra wait at the airport. People watching can be entertaining. Little Roy
  22. I don't think so, Winnie. He was too young and too skinny. Little Roy
  23. I shared a ride once. Just for the hell of it. Had a good conversation and the trip really went by quickly. Would do it again if my arrival date and time coincided with someone elses. As a side note....while waiting for my ride mate at the airport I was approached by a guy wanting to share. I thought it would be OK, but when the scheduled guy showed up, the new guy said he wanted to ride for free! I blew him off. Don't know how he got to Pattaya. If he was that low on funds he shouldn't have made the trip in the first place. Little Roy
  24. I have had my ticket for my return trip to LOS on Sept. 20 for several weeks. I return to the States on Dec. 4. I also have my ticket for my next trip on Jan.7 with return in April. So buying early has it's benefits. If you don't have your tickets yet you can expect to pay premium prices. Call EARLY tomorrow...or pay more later. Good luck! Little Roy
  25. The ear plugs will also come in handy on Soi 8, in Marine Plaza, or any of the discos. Little Roy
