On my short visit I thought the dining area was very clean but thought that if the 30 or so people checking in all went at the same time there would be insufficient seating...with perhaps overspill into the bar area which was also very clean.... Other points worth a mention:- There was a record deck with some old LPs which looked as if it still played and 3 or 4 internet stations in the bar area... -
Under 300 Baht ... And Good! (updated July 4, 2022)

"A big, big problem is that a lot of Thai cooks don't know how farang food is supposed to taste. They prepare dishes according to recipes or instructions, but don't have a real sense of what they are supposed to be sending out to customers." The same can be said of Issan food cooked by "Chonburi chefs" ...... -
You should try reading it again...but imagine it to be the Monty Python RAF Banter sketch ...It doesn't make it easier, just more entertaining....

Steroid shots for the knee
Bullfrog replied to midlifecrisis's topic in Doctors, Dentists, Clinics and Hospitals
I use Ibuman-plus, which is Ibubrofen 400mg and Paracetemal 325mg for my hips and back. I walk 2 hours a day 3x a week. Other days it is at least one hour a day. I guess I go through a pack of 10 every 6 - 8 weeks. When the pain gets too great I plop one (sometimes 2) and in 30 minutes I'm off again. Great stuff..... The cheapest place in town, at 40 baht a pack, is turn right outside Areca, passed Robins Nest , passed a tourist booth and it's on your left. If it's not 40 baht you're in the wrong shop.. I know this doesn't answer your question directly but thought it may give you an op -

It might have been both...but I meant from this side to the other side looking at it front to back in an Easterly direction. When I had cirumnavigated it the new this side to the new otherside from the new front to the new back in a Westerly direction it was still 2m.. -

Here is another thing that crossed my mind this morning...Did you know that the Areca has expanded and has it's own access to soi 15 behind "The Avenue"..??? -

I'm wrong! It isn't blocked but it is a dirt track which today had a 2m puddle, amongst other smaller puddles, stretching accross the track....somewhat resembling a farm track without the cow shit.. Lovely hotel though! but I couldn't check a room because there were about 30 or so people checking in who had bizarelly walked in from Second road dragging their suitcases....No idea why.. -

I've just checked the location on Booking.com (which is sometimes wrong,of course) and I am not sure whether the road it is shown to be on is accessible from both ends or if you have to walk all the way around to get to the baht bus on soi buakhao if your destination is Lengkee/Dianna or NP etc.. For going to WS you'd have to walk along soi 15, cross 2nd road and you'd be so far down beach road you might aswell walk all the way... The reason I'm thinking this is I am unsure whether the R-Con blue swimming pool blocks off the road shown on the map or not.... I shall take a walk either today -

Natureview was on the list of places that my sons gave me to check out for them. It was fully booked when I visited so I didn't see the rooms but they decided not to stay there when I told them there was no shaded areas by the pool and it seemed not enough chairs for those that did want to sunbathe.....Areca was a far better choice for this particular aspect of accommodation..... Note: My son's wife is ginger haired so the shade was probably more important to them than other guests though... -
On my walk to the QV this morning I noticed a new Pizza place "opening soon" on soi 6....might do a good trade in delivery to bars...

I don't know when the last time that you stayed at the Areca was but one thing may interest you about the place, being as you have shown an interest in English footie.. The small beer garden out front now has a big screen that (last season) showed the footie. When my sons visited last April and stayed there we also used the hotel outside bar which had quite competitive beer prices IIRC... -
Yep..that is my plan too... Regarding using a credit card in an exchange booth - I saw a sign in the TG Booth at the junction of Second road and Soi 9 this morning saying cards welcome so I stopped and asked ....minimum 5,000 with a charge + 6%........I also noticed that 10s and 20s were 43.1 but 50s were 43.2...

I'm sure somebody on here has posted that TT no longer pay a different rate for 50s .....On the video (I think by Valentino) it showed different rates downstairs at the airport though... If you know of another that still has the best rates and that will give an even better for 50s then let us know and I'll take a walk there and ask..

I plan on being through immigration and sitting in the lounge with a large wine in my hand at 4pm...but I guess 4pm is when rock stars like you are just getting out of bed on a Sunday...
