A couple of years ago Emirates business class included free taxi under 100 miles as part of the deal.... I can't find any reference to it on their website ...Is it part of your deal..???

I may or may not be correct but when I was intending to fly back this year it appeared that Qatar allowed you to book a seat in advance for free but Brexit exchange rate put the kybosh on those plans so I stopped investigating...

There is a bloke I've seen cycling around soi Buakhao with a coconut tree on the back of his bike...When the tree gets too big he replaces it with a new coconut plant ......I absolutely love sitting in quiet bars during the day watching the weird go by !!!!! -
Under 300 Baht ... And Good! (updated July 4, 2022)
Bullfrog replied to Evil Penevil's topic in Restaurants and food
Things may have changed there but I went in 3 times, on different days of the week, each time before 12 Noon. to grab a takeaway and was told "Chef too busy. Only breakfast" ...Oddly 2 weeks ago I was having the "Scottish breakfast" in there and somebody was having the kebab special at 09:30 but I suspect he was a regular because it was brought to him without him ordering....Strange... -
The last time I really enjoyed flying BA was in the early '90s Biz class when I flew regularly LHR to Beijing for 2 years. Upper deck, non smoking, brilliant food, wine and service when the trolley dollies had time (and were allowed) to have a laugh and a chat... My last, final, never again flight was about 2 years ago . I had paid 25 quid for a prebooked seat (centre aisle). I did a final confirmation before leaving home and pretty much dawdled along knowing that everything was gonna be OK....Until I was ushered to the self check in machines !!! ... "but I have a prebooked seat!!!" The bastards had changed aircraft to one with a different seating layout!! Bastards I thought but then OK I'll select centre aisle on the machine - all booked - Bastards....So I asked at the desk...No sir you can't change, fully booked and no time bla bla bla but we will refund your money ...."Send your complaint to customer service" .... BASTARDS

What is your Exchange rate "tipping point"?.
Bullfrog replied to Butch's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Yes it is mate ....My state pension kicks in just as my Health Insurance starts to ramp up too so all is OK here with me nowadays as long as Nightwish etc don't influence the prices on soi Honey and "the poon" like they did on soi 6 that is... -

I thought I should mention that there is building work going on at the back of the clinic. Looks like it could be an actual hospital under construction..... Also a new clinic near the Pattaya Tai baht bus start point (on the slip road to Big C)should be openning soon..... -
What is your Exchange rate "tipping point"?.
Bullfrog replied to Butch's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Totally agree! but these were my two extremes... -
I have just checked Loungebuddy for my sons and LHR lounges are now nearer 40 quid than the 25 quid I mentioned in my earlier reply - I'd have to drink ALOT of wine to pay that much...!!!!

What is your Exchange rate "tipping point"?.
Bullfrog replied to Butch's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
This is something that I had never really thought about. Let's take my 2 extremes.. Upper limit: In the '90s for 2 years I never went below 16,000 quid a month (pure profit, no overheads). My best month was 32,000 quid. Let's use 84 baht to the pound = 2,688,000 Baht a Month. 1,000 all night. 0.037%. Multiple girls most nights. Lower limit (today): Currently living off my Army pension of 600 quid a Month at 37 baht to the pound = 22,200 Baht a Month. 3,000 all night. 13.5%. Never Again!!!! Frightening difference really....I wish I hadn't done that calculation now.... -

Tree Town on Soi Bukhao
Bullfrog replied to Evil Penevil's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
It is difficult to do the laundry in a van. If I am ever out at night I will go there rather than an empty bar anyway ..... -
I head West from LHR along the M4. I found loungebuddy to be very good since I stopped flying up front (and took everything for granted). Last time I flew out I went onto the Suvarnabhumi website and checked the history of departures to see what gates my flights left from and chose a lounge nearest staggering distance to the plane...There was a choice of buffet and a chef was available for fresh cooked food. Wine was self service from the fridge but when the girl saw me getting up and down she basically filled my glass for me every time I emptied it..All for 20 quid! .Same same for LHR but of course only self service and for 25 quid. Both would have cost me much much more in the restaurents and pubs...... But read the reviews carefully before choosing!!

Of course you are correct as the subject title is "when you are out" ...My Bad.... Does Mr Egg's place still do wine from the bottle? Most others is box..

Matt used to have a single shop lot t'other side of the bridge and we'd sit and chat...well he'd chat and I'd listen .... about this dream he had of doing something different.. more classical more theatre..I thought he was just another dreamer...Then things seemed to happen at once...He started AW - Thaksin got elected and put restrictions on attire...Gspot put prices up to cope.......but Matt took costumes to the police and got them cleared as being OK...At the same time the wanker sprog manager of Dollhouse in Clinton Plaza banned me for taking a girl's top off FFS. It was timed perfectly for an Entrepeneur. I know I go against the flow by saying that Ricky did nothing there except be temporary Manager despite what his CV said. Matt needed a break and Ricky was experienced enough to step in...but was so fucking out of place with the initial concept of AW....I am glad Ricky did well in FLB etc so no problems there ...

I am a little unsure of this "day or 2" concept with bottles....Did you mean to say "hour or 2".. One thing that should be celebrated is that my local 7/11 that serves me 24/7 even on Bhudda days now have Concha y toro Cassilero del Diablo at 699 a bottle.. Way out of my budget but it becomes so tempting after a night out sniffing girls' perfume and heading home for a wank!!!
-
I now look at things from a different perspective... - Due to National coaches availability I will only fly into LHR T2/T3 before 1600 so bang goes EVA and BA.. - My preference after that is to fly PE and pay 20 quid with loungebuddy at each departure lounge.. But no PE within my budget to T2/T3 so economy it is. - So for my next flight home it will be a price decision between Emirates or Qatar. Getting tanked up with scoff and wine in the lounge for 20 quid and with 2 short flights of 7 or so hours they won't have time to refuse me drinks unless I vomit... - Austrian/Swiss/Lufthansa are coming in at good prices but I am sure they will stop serving me wine after the 6 or 7 hour mark which is totally unacceptable....
-
Best wine in a bar is now Sportsman on Soi 13...If you sit at the bar and chat to the girls it is possible to "encourage" them to put a drop extra in... A large glass for 150.... Boxed wine is bloody expensive nowadays... but a place I use does 3 litres for 920 baht ... 1 box with 2 x Cheers Xtra is 1002 baht...!!!

Perhaps the person that redded this comment would like to comment himself on why he thinks that global News coverage is warranted in this case with direct comparison with the far greater flooding in Bangladesh which is regularly ignored by the News organisations..?? In fact, don't bother replying cos I won't be on the board again to read it..
-
I wish the TV cameras and live reporting were just as intensive during monsoon flooding in Bangladesh. I wonder how TV companies calculate public interest.?..1 dead cowboy's horse = 5,000 dead Bangladeshis?? Sorry but I find the disparity too distateful for words
