  7. Hi, I`ve wrote aobut this hotel earlier but thought I should give it another review. Chin House is locaded on Soi Sala Daeng 1. It`s about a 5 minut walk to the Sala Daeng Skytrain station aswell as the new Subway station ( which I found to be great !!! ) The rooms are very spacious ( my suite is 56 sqm ) and are very new and clean. All suites have their own kitchen with all the works. Don`t worry about the dishes, the maid will do them Wall to roof windows with a great view of the city aswell. They ofcourse have cable tv, stereo, in room safety box, seperate air con units for the bed room and the living room. Internett acces is avaliable aswell, I didn`t check but belive it to be broadband. The breakfast is served in the Chin House 2 building which is right next door and is absolutely superb. The have room service aswell but the stop serving at 2300. The hotel also has a swimming pool, jacuzzi, gym ( with air con ), sauna and a squash court ( whatever the name is, indoor tennis I call it ) 7/11`s is close by aswell as a cheaper laundry service ( the one at the hotel has the most expencive laundry I`ve ever seen ) Being close to Sala Daeng station also means that you`re very close to Patpong. Lumpini Park is also just a 5 minut walk away. And ofcourse, it`s guest friendly. I always go for the 1 bedroom suite which is 3000 Bath a night. Can be booked here http://www.hotelthailand.com/bangkok/chinhouse/ or directly to the hotel siamchin@loxinfo.co.th http://www.chinhouse.com/ And no, the girl does not come with the room.... The view : Mats
  8. Tor, The wifey had to stay back home on this trip Mats
  9. Walkabout Hotel Review This hotel is locaded in downtown Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The hotel has it`s own restaurant and bar which is open 24 / 7. They have 3 or 4 tv`s in the bar, showing all major sports events ( at least thoose found in Cambodian cable ). Let me just say this at once, the bar is filled with girls at any point during the day / night. At night the place really reminded me about how JP`s bar in Pattaya is at 4am. Crowded with girls and punters. The booze is cheap. 1 USD for a beer is a good deal. The girls where a nice mix between the viets and their khemer sisters. No drink preasure as they don`t get a kickback from the bar and the atmosphere was good, even at 6 am one night which is when you can expect people to get abit edgy, but all was good. The bartenders where a good bunch and always had a beer waiting. Remember to ask for a chilled glass. Btw, it`s pay as you drink here so not the same as thailand where you can run up a check bin. Food was priced around 2 - 7 USD. They mainly serve western food like hamburgers, sandwhices, chips, steaks etc. They have cambodian food aswell. I only had one meal there and it was ok. I did see alot of other guys eat so I guess it`s good. They have 2 bars, one downstairs and one upstairs. The upstairs bar has 2 pooltables and there is one table downstairs, I think they both where free to use, but im not sure. Anyway, the girls are hot and the beer is cold in this place. Note, if you want to get to bed early this might not be the place to stay as the music just keeps going 24/7 aswell. The hotel, rooms where rundown ( abit worse then the nana hotel in Bangkok ) and not once during my 4 day stay did they come to clean my room. I had to grab my own towels at the counter downstairs. The guys and girls working the reception ( which in reallity is the bar ) where great and delivered any message I got and always had my key ready before I even asked for it. The room had both an aircon unit + a fan and both worked great. They have 5 different room catagories : Standard Fan Room $8, Standard Air Con Room $10, Superior Air Con Room with inside window $12, Superior Air Con Room with outside window $15, Superior Room with Private Garden Balcony $18. I got the 18 dollar room and let just say that if your legs are weak, stay away from this room. They have no elevator and it`s locaded on the 4`th floor. 4`th floor might not sound so bad, but to get to the room was a challenge each time as you had to cross 2 different floors and basically walk around the entire hotel. Not fun at 7am when your drunk out of your mind. The cable tv was good as it could be, didn`t really watch too much tv actually. The room itself was small ( agian like the size of the nana ) but everything was clean and the water preasure in the shower was good. They also have an airport pickup service for 7 usd. He never showed up to meet me, but it was no hassle getting one at the airport. The private balcony outside of my room : The room, there is even some leftover happy pizza on the bed ;D View from the balcony : Sorry for the lack of pics from the room, but I hope you got some sort of impression from the ones I took. 10. SAS is a very nice choice for us Scandis, but don`t know why you choose to mention the lounge in Stockholm as SAS doesn`t fly to Bangkok from there But yes, it`s a very nice lounge Mats
  11. Hey sinkorswim ie all, Here is my report on the place. From July this year. Forget about the small room guys, it`s just that... Really small and the toilet is extremely narrow + the room does not have any window. In the reception area they have an 24 hour ADSL internet shop at 1 bath a minut ( minmum 10 bath ) and the connection is great. Works out great when you stagger home at 0500 drunk as a skund and decided that you want to post some shit on the net There is also a foot massage parlour connected to the hotel but as I never got the chance to use that service I can`t comment. Their cable tv is massive, not the tv but the cable. I think I must have had over 60 channels Air con worked just fine and it`s up 2 you if you want to turn it off when you leave the room ( although there is a note saying that you please turn it off ) The room was ofcourse cleaned every day to my satisfaction, but here is the great part : if you like to sleep in a bit late there is no problem having them come and clean your room at at 8 pm But most important guys.... It`s a 30 seconds walk to soi 6 A few notes : No pool Pooltable outside ( 10 bath a game ) Laundry service Locaded next door to the Tourist police ( real nice guys btw ) 7/11 just around the corner aswell as an ATM machine. Large fridge ( mini bar on request ) Kitchen facilities ( only in big rooms ) Here is a few pics from the big room : Mats
  12. London, I would say. Mats
  13. 1000 bath, for a DVD player ? wow, that`s cheap... where can one get one of those ? Mats
  14. Stayed there a few times, but if you`re looking for someplace nice to stay I wouldn`t recommend the place at all. Rooms are small, no in room safe, but the location is just superb ! Smack right in the middle of walking street. Here is a pic of the place. Mats
  15. Bazza, 1. No, not at all. There are some beer bars around the corner which sometimes can get a bit noisy when they crack the stereo up. But I never had a problem with it and they only play music from 8pm - 2 am, a time Im usually not in the room anyway. 2. Absolutely nothing Cheers Mats
  16. jtiger... No, it`s not the shower. I think they planned to build it there but then decided agianst it... thanks god Mats
  17. Hi all, I recently stayed at this hotel / guesthouse and here is the review : They only have 8 rooms in total and here are the prices : Small Room @ 450 a night Medium Room @ 550 a night Large Room @ 650 a night Apartment Two Room @ 1000 a night. During low season the prices are negotiable althoug you have to stay there for a certain amoutn of time. Forget about the small room guys, it`s just that... Really small and the toilet is extremely narrow + the room does not have any window. In the reception area they have an 24 hour ADSL internet shop at 1 bath a minut ( minmum 10 bath ) and the connection is great. 18. Partyanimal, "Do you guys think it's more important to upgrade on the flight over or the return flight? " I always upgrade on the return leg, at least there is something to look forward to on your way back home Going to los I could be sitting in cargo for all I care, Im just too excided to get to los to care about business or economy seat... Mats
  19. Hi Partyanimal, I don`t know the answer to all of your questions, but this is what I know : Yes, you can use your China miles on a Delta flight. 20 K is for a one way upgrade so 40 K would get you a roundtrip upgrade. As for using your miles for an upgrade at the airport, usually not a problem as long as it "just" dynasty class you`re upgrading to, but with business class it can be more difficult due to food ( or lack of food ) etc. As far as I remember, in Dynasty class you get economy food so that shouldn`t be a problem. But ofcourse, they are in their full right to decline you any upgrade if you haven`t booked it in advance so you take your choices. Here in Norway we have to do it 7 days in advance. For info on Dynasty class, check out China Airlines web site: http://www.china-airlines.com/en/check/service-3-1-2.htm Hope this helps, Mats Btw, I would take the free upgrade any day. Damn near impossible to get a free miles trip on the dates that I want to travel.

    Question

Taxes depends on which airline you`re flying, which airports you have a stopover in etc. To Bangkok with SAS I pay about 350 NOK in taxes, to Santo Domingo with KLM I pay about 1200 NOK in taxes... Here is an example on the taxes from Oslo to Miami with Continental, all prices in NOK : ZN: 112.00, Security Service Fee: 51.00, U.S. International Transportation Tax: 184.00, U.S. APHIS User Fee: 21.00, U.S. Immigration User Fee: 47.00, U.S. Customs User Fee: 34.00, Passenger Facility Charge: 20.00 What is "Passenger Facility Charge" Mats
  21. Hi Vanilla, Here are the pics I promised to post. Sorry but this is all the pics I have from the Sunshine... Picture of the room. The kitchen ( really small btw ) My bad self on the balcony trying to look cool The construction going on just outside the hotel. The bathroom at the excecutive rooms are real nice, they have seperate bathtub and shower. Another + for the Sunshine is the close location to the Sabai massages parlours and just across the streat is the Welcome inn Mats
  22. Hi Vanilla, Nope, couldn`t see the sea. There is a new hotel which blocked the view Might be different in one of the higher end floors. I`m at work right now, but will find a few pics for you tommorow Mats
  23. vanilla73, Try these two :info@sunshinevista.com sunshinevista@yahoo.com http://www.sunshinevista.com/ Ask if the construction is still going on as last month it was some heavy noice comming from it. Stayed in a executive studio myself and it was great. Once they finish the construction I will be back. Mats
