  1. Will be great to see you again D_D.
  2. Thursday 18th? You WILL be joining in with the Darkside crawl first though won't you?
  3. Not even this one?
  4. Originally instigated in Chiang Mai, the Volunteer force has expanded to Pattaya & Phuket. “These volunteers are not here to fight crime. They are here to serve as an intermediary between tourists and the Thai culture and police. They translate between various languages and Thai, they teach our tourist police to speak English, they tell tourists where to find certain things, or what to do under various situations. We stress the importance of calling for backup and of never getting involved in a dangerous situation, and they always patrol in pairs.” Each volunteer can choose to work as a translator, teacher, sit behind the police desk and offer advice, or pound the streets. Some volunteers work one to two hours per week, others spend days in uniform. It is a very informal arrangement.
  5. Only 3 points off the playoff zone and 6 points off the league leaders now. A great start.
  6. Press Assoc. - Wednesday, October 3 07:02 am A pot of burning chillies sparked fears of a chemical attack on a busy shopping street, reports said. Police closed off three roads and evacuated homes in central London as a cloud of noxious smoke filled the air. But the source turned out to be some fiery food left cooking on a restaurant stove. Firefighters wearing protective breathing apparatus were called to D'Arblay Street, Soho on Monday evening as members of the public were shepherded away. The specialist crews then broke down the door of the Thai Cottage restaurant. They emerged around 7pm with a 9lb pot of chillies. Staff at the restaurant said they were surprised by the reaction of the emergency services. Chef Chalemchai Tangjariyapoon told The Times: "I was making a spicy dip with extra-hot chillies that are deliberately burnt. "To us it smells like burnt chilli and it is slightly unusual. I can understand why people who weren't Thai would not know what it was. But it doesn't smell like chemicals. I'm a bit confused." He was preparing Nam Prik Pao, a red-hot Thai dip served with prawn crackers, the paper said. The dip is prepared with garlic, shrimp paste, dried shrimp and vegetable oil. A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "The street was closed off for three hours while we were trying to discover the source of the odour."
  7. Avatar Girl is Ann (#30) from TQ2. (She had a few days working at Sisterz, but has now returned I'm informed)
  8. Oh my aching head If anyone has any information as to what time I left the bar last night and a clue as to how I got home, I'd be very interested to know. MANY MANY 'thanks?' to all the BM's that turned out last night and got me extremely mau. The copious shots of sang som from the obviously rigged spin the bottle contest also had something to do with it I suspect
  9. For a Wednesday lunchtime, wake up and then take a short 'constitutional' to Jade. Out of the hotel, turn left and turn left again opposite the Hotel California. Go through the white arches and it's on the right. You pay 200 baht for a very good barbecue and this gives you a 200 baht discount voucher against your checkbin. Lots of ladies working on a Wednesday and the all in price for a short time I believe is now is around 1000 baht.
  10. Serves you right for being out ogling 'avatar girl' in Sisterz last night Good to see you at Cherry Bar earlier in the night though and I hop your mates appreciate all the 'hard work' that you put in to make their night fun.
  11. Got a text from BM LordFlash last night "Mate, Ann #30 is now working in Sisterz. Looking good." 'avatar girl' certainly ain't "chubby" (I would guess that there will be an opportunity to see the place next week as it MUST be a very strong candidate for a visit by the FLB GoGo Bar Crawl on the 27th)
  12. True poetry was on 4th March 1972 in a game where Leeds completely destroyed Southampton and made them look like kids in the park on a Sunday afternoon instead of a top flight football team. Yes, they were the 'glory days', but the club will return to the top flight in the near future I'm sure.
  13. NO WAY! Just 3 more points will see us clear of the relegation area and then the next target is the play off area which is but a further 6 points away. Here we go with Leeds United We're gonna give the boys a hand Stand up and sing for Leeds United They are the greatest in the land Every day, we're all gonna say We love you Leeds - Leeds - Leeds Everywhere, we're gonna be there We love you Leeds - Leeds - Leeds Marching on together We're gonna see you win (na, na, na, na, na, na) We are so proud We shout it out loud We love you Leeds - Leeds - Leeds We've been through it all together And we've had our up's and down's We're gonna stay with you forever At least until the world stops going 'round Every day, we're all gonna say We love you Leeds - Leeds - Leeds Everywhere, we're gonna be there We love you Leeds - Leeds - Leeds Marching on together We're gonna see you win (na, na, na, na, na, na) We are so proud We shout it out loud We love you Leeds - Leeds - Leeds We are so proud We shout it out loud We love you Leeds - Leeds - Leeds
  14. This would be the case whether you connected from home or via a free wi-fi hotspot. I find it a little worrying that there are many people happily using technologies that they do not understand and therefore unable to determine the associated risk. Over the Internet, it is possible for data packets being sent from a host to be captured. Whether it can be deciphered and be of use to someone is a different matter.
  15. I asked Ricky about a website last week and it seems that nothing has been done yet. Opening night is tonight, so I'm guessing that once the bar crawl concludes, there'll be a few guys paying a visit.
  16. Popped in there for breakfast once which was good grub and reasonably priced. Went back in on the last trip just for a Coke (and to use the loo). The pool table is in very good order and the pub has a pool team that has done very well over recent years. The place was extremely clean and the staff very efficient on both visits. As stated, not what I'd think to be a real 'mongers' pad.
  17. My visit was most enjoyable thank you.
  18. Cheers Adam I'll be there between 20:00 and 02:00. I'm looking forward to meeting a few BM's, so if you're in the area, please drop in and say "Hi".
  19. "I not go wid customer" No way Alf. Just the once; 'for the experience' I just have to make sure that I do get home.
  20. I fully accept that outside catering is commonplace. Will it be a single 'sitdown' time at The Rockhouse or will it be similar to Noi's where you order when you want to eat. At Noi's, Chef has facilities to prepare your naan bread and poppadums when you order, so a set time is not essential.
  21. I have only made it to one of the curry nights, but can confirm that the food was very tasty. My only concern is that I am sure that I have read in several posts by Mulphy that The Rockhouse doesn't have a kitchen, so I am intrigued as to how the event is to work. Can we be let in on the secret?
  22. OMG - Free shooters and Volsfan's jellies. I predict carnage
  23. Embarassingly myself and Casper were also beaten on the Wii playing 10 pin bowling by our ladies. Thanks for an enjoyable night Lee & crew.
