I have dropped in at the PBG a few times this week and the vibe is very relaxed and the meals excellent. Pete, maybe have a printed sheet or a laminated menu where the punter can just tick or circle his food preferences? These could even be left with the punter rather than staff hanging around waiting for the patron to decide what they want. This would take pressure off the the service people, who I must say have been smiling, fast and corteous.

Soi 7 at about 9pm last night. Sorry about the crap quality of the pic. Does this make up for it? A couple of ladies enjoying refreshing cups of tea on a non-alcohol election eve. Oh and I still hope number 3 gets up. Even some food carts were advertising for him!

Man was walking street a weird scene tonight. Lots of zombies.. me included wandering around with little purpose. I didnt think the lack of alcohol would affect things THAT much! If i was anyones first night in Pattaya, they would be wondering what the fuss is about. Opinions seem to vary on what time the booze flows tomorrow.

I agree that the Raming Lodge is in great spot. Walked past it about 20 mins ago. Just have to see what works with you budget. I think you will be here in the middle of low season Dr Mick so shouldnt be a problem.

Any surgery is a bit of a lottery. I walked out of hospital 2 hours after a medial tear but was in agony for 2 days then recovered quickly. Same with hip replacement. 1 friend was ok in a few weeks. the other with an identical op was ratshit for 6 months!

well, my advice would be.. toronto to london or manchester to bkk or toronto to vancouver to hong kong or singaore to bkk. either way is a hell of a long trip. an around the world fare using either 'star alliance' or 'one world' airline partners may end up just as cheap. google them to find out which airlines may suit you. if you are travelling that far, pick up all the the flying miles you can. have a great trip, you wont regret it.

well i am in my mid 40's which makes me a tad too old to put up with childish, purile shit. songkran in pattaya is not representitive of what goes on in the rest of Thailand. i will simply exercise my right to not be in pattaya for songkran again. if you enjoy it, good luck , up to you!

The Eastinny on soi 7 has what you want although the in-room internet connection is via an ethernet cable that the hotel can supply. It ran ok and i never got booted. One thing that you may want to consider. Doesnt the time you are planning to return to Pats coincide with Songkran this year? I was there for it in 2007, never again! (thats just me though)

This might explain why i am having trouble calling my TGF in Pooket! I use a calling card and believe the card uses a voip connection. If the net is running like shit, it probably affects everything.

i have used 5 around the world fares in the past and if you have the time and do the planning, they are a sensational way to travel. i dont know if i'd bother to just do a point to point trip using one of these fares though.. but if you have the time, its a good way of seeing the planet. one killer these days are all the various taxes (airport improvement taxes etc) that get tacked on to the ticket prices. using either oneworld .. AA, British Qantas etc or star alliance .. United, Singapore, Lufthansa etc you should chock up plenty of flyer miles. i am a member of both. p

the newest hotel in the Eastiny group should be open now almost opposite the cherry bar on soi 8. google 'eastiny pattaya' and it should tell you more.

I have stayed at the Summer Breeze Hotel and the Orchid Residence on Soi San Sabai or the Lamai hotel on Rat U Thit Rd. i can happily recommend them all. the valhalla does look interesting though. if you get there and a place sucks ... move. ie dont pay for all your accommodation up front!
