Stayed at the Flipper lodge my first few trips but they upped the prices. Stayed Eastiny on soi 8 as well. Past 2 visits I have stayed at Eastiny 7 and have booked to stay again in Nov. Superior rooms are 1280 bt including the breakfast you cant get out of. I didnt make it down once last trip. Never had a problem there. Would suggest getting a room on the north side if you dont like the noise from soi 7. Oh and a standard loom at the Eastiny plaza on soi 8 in nov seems to bee 1600 bt !! http://www.eastinypattaya.com/eastinyplaza/index.html

I stayed here for a week last year and for the price I was very satisfied. http://www.nap-inn.com/ I usually stay at the Nana Hotel when the budget allows. Its tacky but thats why I like it.

What is the hassle about 2am closing? If you know that, then get your shopping done before 2am! Head out earlier .. derrrr. It wasn't so long ago that London shut down at 11pm either.

As an Aussie who visited the PBG a few weeks after it opened, I can attest that the beers I had were plenty cold enough. Dont fret about that one whinging Aussie! The beer mats are a brilliant idea. I can think of venues all over the world where they would work a treat. Patant them quick! -
I managed to get $1250 inc taxes adelaide-bkk then phuket to adelaide via Singapore using Singair for November. I booked it about 10 weeks ago and am glad I did. I just missed the fuel fare hikes. Advice is to book fares as soon as you know your travel dates. I fear the days of waiting for cheaper fares close to your departure date are gone.

Excellent update thank you Ling Yai!

Go to Bangkok and decide for yourself if you like it or not! If you dont, there are about 200 flights a day that will take you away from there and about 20,000 taxis that will take you down to Pattaya. Personally I enjoy my time there. A joiners fee is what your hotel will charge you for bringing a 'guest' into your room. Prices can be as little as 100bt up to 1,500. Places that charge this are trying to discourage you from bring a girl back to your room ... but they will let you for a price! Hotels will tell you about joiners fees if you ask. Personally I avoid these places like

Being lazy and a traditionalist, I park myself at the Nana Hotel. Sleazy and convenient, I only have to wander downstairs at any time to select some company. If I meet a girl at the Biergarten, Gullivers or whatever and they ask where i'm staying, once I say the Nana they know exactly what I'm in BKK for and they know I'm not rich. Its almost worth staying there for the buffet breakfast just to watch guys bring down their new friends. There are nicer places but I dont feel the need to change. Up to you!

Stayed in the flipper lodge and the eastiny on soi 8 (older one) and the eastiny 7. All are fine!

The chinese new year this year was in Feb, the same week as valentines day. I know as i was in Phuket for both. Yep, waiting for cheaper airfares to come up closer to your travel dates is probably a thing of the past. I booked my november flight from Australia today. Book it and ye shall go!!

Too much time on your hands? But yes, useful info ... thanks!

There is nothing written in stone about what FF plans you can join. If they dont charge a fee, I join. Currently with both oneworld, star alliance, Malaysian and Bkk airways. Singapore must owe me an upgrade soon I think. I certainly have used them a lot in the past 3 years.

I use AIS 1 2 call. never had a problem and recharge cards available everywhere. (7/11's)

Off topic but Dr Mick ... I owe you big time, Thanks mate!

I use the Montri Hotel at Tapae Gate. 750bt with wifi in the rooms. Either there, travellers or raming lodge would be fine.

ozijeff replied to kutetee's topic in Meeting - Cost sharing
Yep, a taxi driver in Bkk told me this week that the fines were about to start. Does it also cover talking while on a motorcycle? -

Interesting info guys. Number 2 certainly looks nice in his uniform in his election poster. So now he is Mayor!~? Front the above article ... Mr. Ittipon intends to put his vision for a new improved Pattaya into practice by carrying out the following policies: · environmental improvement · the implementation of an effective water supply for the city and Kho Larn (Coral Island) · a 12-year free education system · low-cost housing for low income groups · a new, improved traffic system · a tramline transportation system · flood prevention · job opportunities to decrease

I also dropped in last night for a nice plate of fish and chips. First I thought there wasn many people there. i took a quick count... 96! Any bar would be rapt in those numbers. There was a good smattering of quality girls too. As the word gets around this place will be very popular.
