  1. I clarified this because some people might think that the shop next door might have been sold a few times which is far from the truth. The OP has, I believe, decided to go back home and is I believe, reluctantly, selling up. Thanks for helping.
  2. He OWNS the shop next door. That's for sale too. Would make a nice triple unit.
  3. I'll throw in a few comments here as the OP is a friend. The bar IS in Jomtien Beach Condo. Building S2. For the record, it's the only decent bar (as opposed to restaurant/cafe/bar) in the S1 and S2 blocks and gets busy most nights. I'm sure there is scope for a food service, and the back rooms could be rented out as they have been in the past. There are many expats and 3 to 6 month long holiday makers who own condos or rent regularly year on year and are regulars at the bar. The bar used to be in the Jomtien Expat pool league until last year and there was an excess of decent players who would
  4. Thanks, Joe. Could you ask her where she bought them. I don't mind a trip to Bangkok. Gives me something to do, and i enjoy the city.
  5. Since (and perhaps because of) the floods, I haven't been able to find Scotchbrite microfibre absorbent cloths in 7/11s, Family Marts, Tops, Big C, etc. You know, the cloths that are sold in packs of two, generally in orange, yellow or green colours, 30 x 32 cm. square. I find them very useful for kitchen and bathroom cleaning. My old ones are getting really worn and it's time to replace. I can't find them, or anything similar. Anybody got any ideas where I might find them. Are they out of production, permanently or temporarily? I see on a Google search that they are available on line but not
  6. Jacko, I agree with you on the seemingly ponderous admin at April, but I have been with them for a year now and Cyril, at Global Solidor, the broker, is very good. I have had one occasion to speak to them on the phone to France and the person on the other end spoke excellent English. I had a knee operation at Bumrungrad in June and April settled directly with the hospital. No excess and no hassle. I took along the claim forms but Bumrungrad's claims dept. didn't seem to require them. BTW the claim was handled on behalf of April by AXA!!! At the age of 64 I haven't found a health insurance bet
  7. The baht buses from outside the school (near the traffic lights) run all night and 10 baht is the normal fee to Jomtien. There is no shortage of girls who will go to Jomtien on a baht bus for short time.
  8. Quite a few still to be found on Walking Street. Mainly nocturnal nowadays.
  9. A very exciting rider, if a little rash, and came across well in interviews making him very likeable. RIP.
  10. Must be a while since you've been there Esco...Kiss Kool was good but not a gogo now. Edit...sorry, I misread your post. You did indeed say gogo LIKE bars.
  11. That doesn't make sense to me.....8,610 sq. ft. X 344 sq.sq.ft.?? Should it be 8,610 ft. X 344 ft...thus making... ummm...a lot of square feet? Can anybody enlighten?
  12. LA bicycle shop on Thepprasit Road on left hand side coming from Sukhumvit about half way down and opposite soi 10. Yellow fronted building. Tel 038 300606, mobile 081 9159909. Proprietor named Pratheep, speaks good English.
  13. Same same question. Baked beans on toast....yummy...but without butter...ugh! Anybody had it at this establishment? with or without butter?
  14. I agree but in this climate it's probably better to keep it in the fridge. Thais don't think ahead usually.
  15. Today I went into a well established (1997) and popular traditional type British pub on soi 13. Regulars will know it well. I would normally have had a set breakfast which would have included toast and some butter, but today I opted for egg on toast and a couple of rashers of bacon. The eggs sat on top of DRY toast. This happens often in Thai run places, but in a BRITISH pub I would have expected buttered toast. Surely since 1997 the same owners should know that falangs like buttered toast....or am I the only one? I know I could have asked for butter and removed the eggs, buttered up, then rep
  16. ▸ noun: a shocking surprise ("News of the attack came like a bombshell")
  17. I heard a rumour last night which I tend to believe comes from a good source that Truevisions has not renewed it's contract with ASN and as from November they will no longer air it.
  18. I heard that it had closed, but that was about three months ago.
  19. Thaiempire runs the Sports Bar in Jomtien Beach Condo, S2 block. His girlfriend will rent you a bike from there. Be advised though that the bar opens from 3pm.
  20. Let me explain to the people who don't understand....if you're starting at Dolphin roundabout " about half way down towards the beach on the left " doesn't get you to Fascino's. If you are giving directions state where you're starting from and which way you're facing. Makes it so much simpler. Make sense now???
  21. MM...There's certainly a Fascino on Pattaya Nua but from Biggles' directions you'll never find it. It always amazes me that when giving directions only the writer ever knows where he's coming from and which way he's facing before giving " left" or "right" or "straight on". Do they think we can read minds? Fascino on Pattaya Nua is on the right hand side coming from the Dolphin roundabout towards Sukhumvit. I'd guess at about 200 yards from the roundabout. There's also a Fascino branch on Pattaya Tai, coming from 2nd. Road traffic lights towards Sukhumvit about the third shop past the school on

  23. They're now announcing it on their website homepage effective 24th. October.
  24. I know there are a couple at least of 32 sq. m. condos which would probably be available in Jomtien Beach Condominium, in the S1 and S2 blocks which are close to the beach. The complex has swimming pool, fitness centre, many shops and laundries. I don't think you would do much better. You'll find it just after soi 10 travelling south down Jomtien beach road. Bahtbuses plentiful and only 10 baht into Pattaya.
  25. Sorry, Parry, That's a THREE horse race over 90 minutes and not the price to lift the cup. William hill's price to lift the cup is Barcelona 4/9....... Man U. 13/8.
