  1. Many years ago I stayed at the old welcome Inn. No room safes so I kept my passport cash and ticket in the office safe like everybody else did. Night before leaving to catch the plane I made sure the manager that there would be someone around to open the safe and get my stuff out. Absolutely. 3 a.m. in the morning I'm showered and dressed head down to the reception and ask about getting my stuff. Blank stare. Taxis still an hour away take me to the airport. I thought I was where very well prepared. For the next 2 hours they chased the safe person all over Pattaya way can everybody up trying to track him down where he finally arrived at the office the taxi had been waiting for about 90 minutes and I just made it to the airport. Very very careful about safes after that!
  2. I had a benign prostate growth and had the TURP April 2017 (I'm 60 now). Unfortunately it was bundled up with a few other serious medical issues over a 4 month period which saw me in and out of hospital for a few major operations. The other issues were not related, they just all fed into each other to delay surgery on one thing while I was having surgery and recovery for another thing. By June 2017 I noticed my piss stream was (and is) better than it had been in years, but I also had an unrelated bladder issue as on of my other medical issues which got fixed separately. EDIT Also my ability to empty the bladder more completely was greatly improved. ED? That had been going downhill for years due to my diabetes and medications, but I think it did improve a bit. Unfortunately, more extreme medications have buggered that up. You seem to sort of imply if you can't have coital sex then you just can't have sex at all. You can orgasm without a hardon (oral sex...) I can't get travel insurance now so I won't be back to Pattaya, but if I were coming back I would suffer some thai maiden gently trying to coax some splooge out of my softie with her mouth!
  3. I would vote for advertisements. We are all use to ads on sites as a means to cover costs for sites we want to look at for free. Or a business(s) like Pattaya Beer Garden that wanted to support the forum financially for the business it would generate. I think there would be scope for interesting advertising possibilities... More youtube clips from PT supporting businesses that were clearly adverting and acknowledged as such. Merchandise/competitions/freebies from PT supporting businesses (run BY those businesses, not taking up the time of PT admin) Naming rights for one of the forums (hell, our sports stadiums make money out of it... 'The Pattaya Beer Garden member's bar' Hell, I would even suffer the occasional spam email from a PT supporting business (and before everyone jumps all over me, EVERY type of site I want to have a look at requires me to register my email and then get spam from that site...I would suffer spam from a site like PT that I actually like.) Subscription won't work. Their is so much information/porn/guides etc on the internet for free that I just wouldn't be bothered. Thanks for your efforts Frostfire and I would just like to say Vale MM.
  4. I have usually shied away from those restaurants in Pattaya offering the 'cook at the table' experience' as they seemed to mainly consist of boiling up chopped veggies. This looks lovely though and I love pork! I'm looking forward to EP's review of the dishes.
  5. AND SHIT HER OUT ON BOXING DAY...
  6. Try Dancewatchers: http://www.dancewatchers.com/ They have rentals at view Talay2. I booked a room for 8 nights at view Talay 6 through them... they were fine to deal with (I wanted to gauge a long term condo rental for the future as opposed to a hotel). Be warned though, long term rentals (?? 1 month, 3 months, 6 months ?? you don't specify) need to be booked well in ADVANCE as your time line will be eaten up with other shorter bookings, especially the good value 'specials' that may be advertised at good rates. Good luck!
  7. A man went into an urologist and told him he was having a problem, as he was unable to get his manhood erect. The doctor checked him out then told him that the muscles around the base of the organ were damaged from a previous viral infection and there was nothing he could actually do for him. However, he knew of an experimental treatment that might work, if he is willing to take the risk. The treatment consisted of planting muscle tissues from an elephant’s trunk into his 'old fella'. The man thought about it for a while. The thought of having to go through life without sex was too much for him to bear. So, with the assurance that there would be no cruelty to the elephant, the man decided to go for it. A few weeks after the operation, he was given the green light to go and try out his newly renovated equipment. As a result he planned a romantic evening with his girlfriend and took her to one of the nicest restaurants in town. In the middle of dinner he felt a strong stirring in his loins that continued to the point of being extremely painful..? To release the pressure he unzipped his fly and his knob sprang out, slid across the top of the table, grabbed a bread roll and returned to his trousers. His girlfriend was stunned at first, but then with a sly grin on her face said, “That was incredible, can you do that again?” With tears in his eyes he replied, “I think I can, but I am not sure if another bread roll will fit up my arse.”
  8. OP, I have never bought or owned property in Thailand, so take the following with a grain of salt: I am currently renting a condo for 2 weeks at View Talay 6, been here for 4 days now. (All my other trips I have simply used hotels.) The floor I'm on seems deserted (there would have to be 50 apartments on each floor, but I haven't counted). I have only seen 2 apartments in use (both dudes were leaving their doors open all the time to catch the breeze and save on AC I guess, both seem to have gone now). I don't hear farang voices and thai girls laughter in the corridor at all, at any time of the day or night like I do in most hotels (which is fine by me). In fact I don't hear anyone! There are 3 lifts, I never have to wait long for one! The majority of the time it is empty when I get in and travel down. The pool never has more than about 4 mongers in it, although often a family or two with a few kids (Thai family holidaying or a farang with his thai wife/child.) The ground floor has about a dozen businesses, including basic coffee shops, grocery stores, massage places. They look empty whenever I walk past. There would be about 5 or 6 separate condo renting/ selling businesses on the ground floor, they look very quiet inside! Now it is quite possible lots of these places are owned by people doing what you describe, living overseas and renting between their own visits and it is very much low season. But jeez, I think if I was interested in buying a place here I wouldn't have to line up in a queue and wait for a salesman to see me!

  9. Thanks Kev.
  10. Kev, have you travelled yet? If so, what was your experience with them? They get some very negative press: http://www.smh.com.au/business/consumer-affairs/budget-airfare-website-bestjet-accused-of-misleading-customers-20160622-gpp6n5.html http://www.productreview.com.au/p/bestjet-com.html
  11. Just booked and paid for a Thai airways return flight Mel BKK 22 April-9May at $745. They are adverting specials: http://www.thaiairways.com/en_AU/plan_my_trip/Special_fare/Offers_Booking/NYSaleTH.page? Very difficult (well, I couldn't find them!) to locate the day/flight times of the lowest mentioned fares (and I visited a travel agent who looked up various date/times and there is very limited seats reserved at the low prices (ie 1 - 3), but plenty of seats at the higher prices). Yay for me!
  12. Years ago I bought a pirate copy of Photoshop in Tukcom. I went back to the hotel room to load in on my laptop but the promised text file with the registration numbers was not on the CD. Back to the shop and after a short wait while he disappeared (downloading more crap I guess) and I get another disc. Back to the room and the registration numbers were there so I started to install the program, but the virus checker went mental with the range of viruses on the disc... Project abandoned.
  13. The best point and shoot is the one that slips easily into your pocket and is always with you. Don't get bogged down with the longest telephoto too much, your best pics will be you moving in closer to your subject. If you are basically shooting auto and have no interest in finding out a little about perspective, composition, lighting etc, then a $200 compact will take the same pic as a $1000 compact. Not trying to sound snooty about photography, but if you just take a snap of a scene, most cameras will have the same result, regardless of what features they have. It is the person taking the pic who can improve the appeal of the pic (and that can be learned... go to a photography workshop).
  14. aarrrr... I am in the open section. Thanks for the reminder! (You all missed out on a great pic of a granny smith up the wazooo...)
  15. It could be the above or The Glenlivet I'm drinking right now, because I see I have already fucked up the tag LOL.
  16. Hi MM, Please indulge me here... I seem to have problems putting up pics and videos and I don't think it is entirely my fault. The post options on my Pattaya Talk browser window always has the 'Enable HTML?' always turned off and even when I tick it to enable it I think it still does something weird with embedded code. So, I am putting some pics up here for practise. Maybe it could be the practise thread for people needing to do the same?
  17. Thanks Gary, lounge_lizard and Fatboy. Your help is most appreciated!
  18. Stop the presses!!! Spice, I think we are back in business. I have always preferred to deal direct with the hotel, I don't trust third parties, and so sort of ignored Gary's suggestion (Sorry Gary!) but I just emailed an address from their Facebook page: newhoneylodge@gmail.com (which is different from the version I had been using) and got this answer immediately: From: Angkhana honeylodge Sent: Tuesday, 15 March 2016 7:06 PM To: Subject: Re: Booking You can do with www.agoda.com Agoda.com: Smarter Hotel Booking www.agoda.com Only agoda members get Insider Deals! 19. I have just discovered their Facebook page. No updates for years, but a different number: +66 86 943 7487 I rang it and got an answer. The thai who answered the phone seemed to be speaking English, but her answers were unintelligible (I mentioned the website was down but could not understand her at all.) She may have been some thai mum cooking dinner and wondering who the fuck I was.
  20. Well Spice, I tracked down a number: +66 429133 (at http://www.pattayaone.com/honeylodge.html) and rang it a few times. It rings once and then goes to an engaged signal. I think we're fucked
  21. I broke a tooth the day before I was to fly from Melbourne to Pattaya. I got a quick check up by a dentist and he quoted $1800 for a crown and post. I asked him about getting work done in Thailand and his attitude was that he had seen good and bad work done in Asia, exactly as he had seen good and bad work done in Australia. The crown and post in Pattaya cost me less than $400. You should do some research on 'dental tourists', I didn't know it existed until I starting googling it.
  22. OK thanks Spice, if I find out anything I'll let you know.
  23. I have been trawling the hotel websites looking for a place for my next Pattaya trip and the Honey Lodge seemed to fit the bill. However, their website has been down for weeks (and just returns server gibberish) and they have not answered my emails. It is located just around the corner where the traffic turns at the Walking street sign, about halfway between the sign and the intersection: Has anyone wandered past there and seen any sign of a closure, renovation, development etc? Any comments most welcome.
