  1. If i was thinking about that kind of expense, i would probably consider a 600cc Honda or Kawasaki (and take the expense a bit higher) I am not keen on the Forzas.
  2. I bought the new one with the idle stop and the mag wheels etc, cost 54k, its quick enough, only done 1800 km and bored with it now. Im looking for a brand new 150 PCX and ill go get one from Bovin just outside of Pattaya as my friend bought one there 3 months ago 5k cheaper than any place in Pattaya
  3. They will grant you a 5 year license depending on what type of visa you have, If your visa is a double entry tourist visa, you should expect to get another 1 year. Expats can get a 5 year so long as they have a retirement/Non O Multi entry - 1 year. I recently lost my 5 year to a 1 year because my Non O had expired. Next July i can get a 5 year after i re new my Non O - Multi entry. The visa you have will get you a letter from immigration and that will dictate what length of time your license will last. You can get a 1 year license even with a 30 day stamp.
  4. Its happening with me also and im in Angola.
  5. When my friends wife in the UK passed away (she was Thai) he brought her boday back to Thailand and they came to the airport, picked up the coffin and drove it all the way up to Sak Gaeo. They said they did not want anything to do this - just make a donation. So he made a donation just like everyone else does and they were really good and two guys followed us to the airport and all the way up to the village. Cant say enough of good things about this place and the people who work there.
  6. Do try to keep up. He has been bullshitting on here for more than 10 years and you still dont get it There is more chance that the sky is pink than he ever tells the truth about anything.
  7. Not at all, i dont need to yank his chain. He does that himself and if you think he has ever ridden a motor bike in any where you need to get up a little earlier in the mornings.
  8. Why would you ask some one who has never ridden a motor bike on Thailand.
  9. I have eaten there a few times already and love it, good food, good service and good price.
  10. Yes you can, there are a few driving schools locally
  11. Never, some one has to pay for the car and the driver. If this lady can rent her own car, she will have the freedom to go out were and when she likes. Its no fun always having to wait for a driver who is either late because he is still pissed or he just went to sleep. Would you trust a Thai driver ??
  12. Do not do that and do not take any advice from the local village idiot who knows nothing about Pattaya.
  13. If the plane had exploded at 35k feet there would be lots of debris on the ocean and some would have been found by now.
  14. When you are ready to look for a house - contact Rob Denham on - 0840614322. He is a local real estate guy and I have worked with him for over 10 years. Give him your budget and he can send you some links with places to be considering. Pattaya is a big area and most of the expats stay over East Pattaya. It has everything you need - supermarkets/shops/markets/restaurants etc. You are quite safe here and should not have any problems, but be aware - just like in any country there are good and bad every were. Try to learn some of the language and you will get along just fine. Good luck, yo
  15. The lake is full right now
  16. I pay my internet 1 year in advance and don't worry about the bill - if and when it does come.
  17. I have never heard of this before also. I would recommend that you do go to the airport and ask to speak to some one "higher up" as this mistake was made at the airport when you first arrived. I would dress smartly and be very polite (which im sure you are) and first try to get the I.D side of things taken care of and rectified. If that goes well, ask them about the extension you have paid for but could not get due to the mistake. They may take care of that for you while you are there also. Please let us know how it goes and good luck.
  18. You will need at least 50% down payment to stand any chance of getting a mortgage in Thailand, the process usually takes around 3 - 4 weeks from application.
