  1. I came through last night around midnight and there was no lines atall, and the plane from Tokyo was only 30% full, over all i was out of the airport with bags collected in under 40 minutes
  2. Actually , he is not, he is without doubt the most popular and busiest there is in town because he is not upmarket. The office is run by Brits and they are all solid guys and very professioanl. I have bought from them because they are realistic about property and will tell you the truth if some one is asking too much etc. I have known Alan, Rob and Steve for a good few years and i trust them 100%
  3. For in and around Pattaya you cannot beat Alan Boltons, they are at the Avenue shopping centre on second rd, a simple google search will give you their website and yu can then search through their data base of properties, location etc and find what you are looking for. I have dealt with them for many years and they are by far - the best there is. Good luck
  4. Im flying Delta next week from Houston via Minneapolis and Narita to BKK, I too was bothered about the baggage allowance so i went up to the airport yesterday and asked them, they told me i can have two checked bags and up to 26kgs (not including carry on)I dont have any type of FFC. I will wait to see what the flight is like, if it was anything like the Delta flight coming over here via Shanghai, it wont be so good
  5. If this is the place that is upstairs above the tailor shop-it is very good. I love my Indian food and i think this place is the best Indian food i have eaten in Thailand for the 7 years i have been here. The owner is a really friendly man and will adjust your meal to suit your tastes. It is reasonable and i always like to eat Indian food in an Indian restaurant, so this is the place. I have had the curries from Neroys, but they are not as authentic as Laylas.
  6. I think the thread is just a personal opinon type thread, a good one, but one that has been raised a few times before. Some good points and some silly ones. But, my thoughts are that the thread should not be about the demise of Pattaya, but "the rise" of Pattaya, i would like to see more high end hotels and shopping centres. There will always be the cheap charlie beer bars, just fewer of them. The russians and Indians dont really spend that much while they are here. The one thing i have really noticed over the last two years - is the amount of Thais coming to live here from Bangkok. So far all
  7. I agree with the OP and i have also seen a much higher number of "unusual" tourists for a city like Pattaya. It is changing and changing for the better. I agree about the properties being built and sold, but only at the high end, there are still the View Talays all over that are not even half full. Alot of people were sold a pony on them and will never really benefit from them unless they personally live in them. I saw this start a few years ago when they first began to build the new shopping centres and high end hotels. The days of the cheap charlies are numbered, and soon i also think the b
  8. If the resturant is as good as this, you would think the manager would be more accomodating to his customers, did this not put you off from returning? im sure it would to some.
  9. I went in there with my wife last July and it was quite good, i am very glad that Mary has left, i always thought she was a crap singer and looked like a hooker from beech rd. They had another woman in there who sang a few songs and was just ok, they do need a good female singer, some one like the lady who sings at the Rolling Stone bar at soi 16
  10. WOW, Thanks for such a great recommendation, i shall send my better half to get me one and have it ready for when i get back next month. Thanks from Houston
  11. MM Thanks for that, do you know if the ones in Tuk com are the real deal or just copies? I need to have a phone like these that will provide data and voice that will work reliably all over Africa and the middle east and i dont like BB before anyone mentions them
  12. Im looking to buy an I Phone 4 and im currently in Houston, can anyone tell me if it is cheaper here to buy and if i buy it here, will it work in Thailand and Africa. I want to be able to change sim cards in the phone from time to time. I am curious to know if the quoted "20'000 baht" in Tukcom is for the real product or are they imported copies. Are the I Phones sold in the US only sold on a contract basis or can you have them on a pay as you go basis Thanks
  13. You could try the Honey Inn at the top of Walking St, it was refurbed about 3 years ago and it always has been 500 baht, it has AC and a pool, its an ok place for 500 baht
  14. Jacko/Joe I have found out its the monitor screen itself. I tried all that you two suggested but nothing worked. I took the laptop to a computer store here in Houston after i got out of the training center and they took a look at it for me, they told me the monitor is at fault and its expensive to replace it. So, i will carry on with it while it lasts and then just buy a new note book when i get back to Thailand. I got my new company laptop today so having a real expensive laptop is not so important anymore. Thanks for your support, Mike
  15. Its two years old and its a Sony VA 10, Its running Vista home premium, i have tried to click on the blink but nothing happens, i have scanned just last week. I can see the task bar and that is were the blinking happens, from the start button right across to the clock on the right
  16. It is all the way across the screen at the bottom, it is blinking all the time, even when programs are turned off and im just looking at the desk top. Its about 15mm high and all the way across the screen all the time Thanks, Mike
  17. Can any of you tekies out there tell me whats up with my laptop, while its on - the bottom of the screen - about half an inch up constantly blinks every 5 seconds or so?? I would appreciate any advice Mike
  18. Additionally, Ban Chang is on the Rayong bus route and you could catch the Rayong bus on Sukhomvit and get there for 50 baht, it might take an hour, but you would get there, and then get the bus back, the buses stop in the middle of the town and the bars are just a short walk
  19. FWIW i have a credit card from BKK Bank, if you have a Thai bank account you can get one if you are prepared to accept they want to keep a secure amount of money eqivilant to the limit you wish to have on the card. This sum is returnable when you no longer want the card. e.g Card limit 300'000 baht Secure deposit held by bank 300'000 baht (returnable when you return the card) This sum does not pay off your card each month, it is only a security bond
  20. If your house is on a development you will have management fees etc , so ask first what they are per month, then just budget the electric, water, internet etc
  21. Do you need a crane to lift you in and out of the bath
  22. And a continuous supply of bed sheets for when you piss the bed
  23. You can get a fairly decent set of copies from any of the many golf shops along the north of 3rd rd. I bought a very nice set of Craigtons for 14'000 baht and i am very happy with them
  24. I think most of the customers must be fickin zombies, it is total shite and thats being generous, why not go to the sea side, the breakfast there is better and about the same price. If anyone is that desperate to eat that shit , they deserve to be ill
